We had a massive Pakistani community that came over from Pakistan 70 years ago to work in the mills (Mill and Mosque Towns) and those communities just grew and grew, not simply from breeding but from the fact that Abdul would be marrying his cousin Aisha from Pakistan, so her and her family would move here. Of course the majority would not speak English because they came from the hills and were not progressive. There has never been integration between the two cultures but the invited culture became the most aggressive, forcibly taking control of many businesses, many town areas and indeed many towns. I moved because it wasn't safe and now look where we are countrywide now.

I think what a lot of us are not realising, is that the kind of highly skilled open-minded migrants we want are also the people who have choices. There is a demand for such people not just in the UK but also in other, sometimes better paid with better climate places, such as in Australia or the US. I now live in my birth country after 50 happy years in UK. I left in 2011 and return often in my wealthy SW London Borough, and can tell you that the changes there are incredible. Not many white British around anymore, the place is full of beggars, doorway sleepers, closed shops. All the surrounding Boroughs are the same. Dirty, badly behaved people. Burkas, hoodies, face coverings everywhere. It Breaks my heart.

I think what a lot of us are not realising, is that the kind of highly skilled open-minded migrants we want are also the people who have choices. There is a demand for such people not just in the UK but also in other, sometimes better paid with better climate places, such as in Australia or the US. It's only the riff-raff I am afraid, who would want to come here simply because it's the only English-speaking country that's nearer to troubled areas of the world. The only way to attract the best and the brightest and stop the riff-raff is to improve our economic model. Which requires investment and talent, so again it is a catch-22.

I think you're making two significant mistakes here-no degree in the world can replace values. I know young Western female doctors who work with surgeons from abroad. The problem may also apply in the UK that too many immigrants have been placed in certain geographic locations or perhaps even a certain immigrant group in a certain geographic location so that they become a concentrated group in a geographic location? . then perhaps the British system is perhaps not as good at giving immigrants jobs or opportunities for immigrants to start companies and businesses as the American system, i.e. less regulation, less requirements for permits
