- Talk EXCLUSIVE: Leeds resident Nicola Wilcox claims she was a victim of two-tier policing, after being arrested at a riot while handing out ice lollies to officers.
"The men started to pull their hoods up, the police told me to go home or they'd arrest me. I couldn't!"
Nicola goes on to tearfully recount her experience of being jailed:
"It was the most hideous, alien experience to me. I've never been in a police station, I didn't even know why I was there!"
Sir Keir Starmer has rejected claims of “two-tier policing” in Britain after Nigel Farage suggested riots over the last week have been dealt with more harshly than other recent unrest and protests.
The Prime Minister flatly denied Mr Farage’s claims as a “non-issue” and insisted policing was carried out “without fear or favour”.
Rioting has spread across English towns and cities over the last week, beginning in Southport after last Monday’s stabbing in the Merseyside town which led to the death of three young girls.

It's hard to say what happened here, but one copper tells another copper, keep an eye on that woman (possibly she was a nice woman and he's worried for her safety), and anther copper gets the wrong idea and thinks he means she is a threat. The problem with Police is that they take everything as a threat, whether its a question or a bit of helpful advice, and the public have no rights to question their authority.

I'm not British, but I am a woman who can relate to much of what she described. I was moved to tears when she started crying. My heart went out to this woman who just wanted to be kind and give a treat to policemen. She didn't realize that the world around her had already changed. Sad.
She is very articulate and relatable. I hope that a lawyer will decide to help her pro bono to appeal her sentence.
It seems that they charged her in order to avoid being sued for false imprisonment. A good lawyer could and should help her.

Nicola Wilcox should file a claim for wrongful (unlawful) arrest given that her human rights were violated when she was assaulted and kidnapped by rogue police officers.
I agree there was no need for an arrest . Just a simple explanation of the danger of the situation on the ground would have helped her to understand at the moment she approached. Then she would have moved away.
