Context Is important with this type of humour, it's as much about the build up as the punch line. Theirs plenty of sarcasm in the show, which is fairly common over this direction. Decent show, a full show may be better. Moone boy and young offenders are two other irish comedy shows you might like to check out at some point👍

It is a hilarious show. We just got finished watching it and now I am started rewatching because to be honest their accents are kind of thick and some of the slang is hard to pick up the first time, since I am in the U.S. and not Northern Ireland. Of course, I went to a Catholic school from grades one through eight so I can relate to it from that standpoint as well.
