This is such a beautiful movie that I feel is seriously overlooked. The first time I watched it I cried. Specifically because the storyline with Wendy and Horry hits so close to home for me. I married my highschool sweetheart as soon as we graduated at 18. When I was 21 I was in an accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down. It was a very small percentage that I’d ever be able to walk again. Although my wife wanted to stay by my side it meant giving up transferring to an out of state college, which she always wanted to do since she was a kid. I was in such a bad shape and even if she wanted to take care of me I couldn’t live with being the reason she gave up on her dreams. I couldn’t go with her because insurance and physical therapy and healthcare were so crucial, i needed to stay in my home state to cover everything. I filed for the divorce. She got to move on and live her life. I slowly (after almost 7 years) got to finally walk again. We slowly reconnected as well. She lives out of state still but she’s forgiven me and have come to something close to friends but part of me will always be in love with her and think about the what ifs. Watching this just broke my heart. Seeing another happy couple who clearly loved each deeply being robbed of a life together. It’ll never not fill me with so much sadness for them.
Jason Bateman is one of the most solid underrated actors working today. Since Arrested Development I’ve never seen him give a bad performance. Ozark being his best work yet.
This is also like The Family Stone (for anyone looking for a similar movie). I come from a family of 6 siblings so I feel a personal connection to these types of movies with large-sibling inter-conflict and chaos under one roof. Wouldn't trade those times for anything.
God, Cassie knows when to drop a reaction. I'm going to my cousin's funeral this Tuesday. He used to babysit me and helped raise me. It's hard grieving, but also seeing a part of my family that I'm kind of disconnected with. All of the emotions in this film are helping me right now, and to have Cassie drop this just made me feel a relief. Don't think your reactions don't connect to people. It helps brighten my day, but right now, it's helping me grieve. Thank you.
My older cousin was the first guy who babysat me. He taught me how to be fun and love life. In 2020 I lost him, my grandfather, and almost my mom in one week. I’m so sorry for your loss and the only thing I can say is those memories keep you filled with love for that person.
Such a lesser known, underrated movie. I love this film. All the performances (specifically Jane Fonda) are incredible. It's just a great family comedy-drama, and I'm super glad you're reacting to it! :)
Another excellent 'reunion' theme movie to see, is The Big Chill. Outstanding cast, and it won 3 Oscars - put it on your list, Cassie, it won't disappoint!
I remember in a interview that Jane Fonda did when promoting this movie she stated when the cast did the table read, the person who she was the most impress with was Adam Driver even compared him to a young Robert DeNiro
Haven't even started watching, but as soon as I saw she had watched this, instant click. This is such a Cassie movie, and an all-time, low-key favorite of mine. Have been so hoping that this would be reacted to.
Same! I’ve been watching 50+ movies a year since 2004 and yet I’ve somehow never heard of this before! And yet it’s obviously an awesome movie!! I need to watch this with my gf in a few years when I won’t remember everything from this video 😝
I love this movie so much. Everyone was fantastic in this. My mum and I had a girls’ night at the movies for this one and it holds a special place in my heart because of that.
Such a low key, good film. It's so underrated. Jason Bateman is one of my favorite actors, he only picks good films to star in. Bad Words, The Gift, Zootopia, Horrible Bosses, Disconnect, State of Play and Office Christmas Party are some of my other favorite movies of his.
This movie will forever hold a special place in my heart. The opening scene at the radio station (Bolt Satellite Radio) was shot at my job. The former studios of 95-5, WPLJ, New York City. They set up the sets a couple days before - decorating with art/posters/etc and then they shot the outdoor scene with Bateman walking in with the coffee, then down the hall, then the cake scene....all in one long day. Was an incredible experience. Sadly, WPLJ was shut down in 2019 and those studios don't exist anymore but they live forever in this movie, which is so amazing.
This and Dan in Real Life are two of my favorites in this genre. Paul Rudd has a couple like this called Our Idiot Brother and Wanderlust that are good. Paul and Steve Carell are great in Dinner for Schmucks. Jason Bateman is great in pretty much anything.
This is such a feel-good film. It has an amazing cast and perfect runtime for the story they were trying to tell. Two thumbs up for sure. It’s one of my comfort films.
I absolutely cannot believe one of my favorite movie reactors watched this movie! It’s such an unknown movie I never imagined anyone would react to it. This movie has so much heart and soul, and such a stellar cast. It’s one of my all-time favorites. Thank you for watching this!
This movie reminds me of that old TV show "Thirty Something." It has the same feel of "A Lot Like Love" but with older adults. It has that same awkward relationships and friendships going on that make you keep watching to see what happens.
Adam Driver IS hot, end of discussion 🔥👍 And that scene at the end when they got their heads together like their father did with them, such a sweet well played heartbreaking scene. Underated movie.
I remember watching this kind on a whim. Interested because it had Bateman and Fey. By the end of the film it makes you want to call your family. Call your friends. Not just a text but a phone call so you can hear their voices. Hear their laughs. One of my favorite films even though I never take the time to re-watch it.
Okay that is JANE FONDA! lol. I feel like you owe yourself BAREFOOT IN THE PARK with Robert Redford. Grab your sister and watch the best romcom of the 60’s! Hilarious!
Love that you did this movie! Another little known movie is The Majestic with Jim Carrey. Unlike most of his movies, he plays a very subdued character during post WWII, small town America. Great cast with heart warming, heart breaking out comes. Never knew he could play such a charming part. I really enjoy your reactions.
A great movie that not enough people paid attention to when it came out, and then was mostly forgotten. It deserves so much more attention. Glad you watched it!
A favourite of mine that this reminds me of, is 'Peter's Friends'. Pretty much a who's who of British Film making, it stars Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Kenneth Branagh, Tony Slattery, Emma Thompson, Richard Briers.
Holy crap, I found myself crying watching this more than when I first watched the movie years ago. My dad was still around when I first saw it and isn't now. That plus just getting older in general really screws with you.
The Family Stone is similar in feel to this movie. Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Dermot Mulroney, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, and Tyrone Giordano.
The chemistry between the actors and actress who played the siblings was so great that you believed they could be siblings. One weird bit of trivia I learned after watching this: The actor who plays Paul (the oldest sibling) is younger than Jason Bateman in real life.
To be honest I've never been a fan of these types of movies but between the writing, cast and their amazing execution, i think this is at the top of the list for the genre. From the personal experiences I've had such as a cheating wife, possible miscarriage, chaotic and immature brother, a father passing away, among others THIS WAS A ROLLER COASTER! Thank you so much Cassie.❤😢😂👍💯
What a great reaction to one of my favourite movies! I can watch this movie over and over and still find new things to love. The first reaction I saw was for the movie Airplane and what a growth you've made Cassie since then! I hope you can add the movie Phenomenon (1996) to your list. This movie has it all, comedy, romance, drama, Sci-fi and it has a great cast too with John Travolta, Forest Whitaker and Robert Duvall. There is no doubt in my mind that you won't love this movie.
Adam Driver is without a doubt attractive. He’s not “conventionally beautiful” but he’s obviously attractive which is different from beauty. Attractive people are way better than beautiful ones 😉
This movie came out of nowhere for me and was my introduction to Adam Driver. It's an amazing cast, story, and performances. So many emotions and so beautiful, so honest.
Cassie - Yes, Adam Driver is hot. In a weird, not-quite-sure-why, dangerous sort of way… but definitely hot! He just has “something”that’s very appealing and hard to describe, for me at least. I fell in love with him watching Girls and he was even weirder in that!
I really like this movie. I can relate to Jason Bateman’s character in most things but a lot in this. I an a middle aged man. I am one of 4 children. The second oldest boy with one sister. I’m divorced as well and have one child from that failed marriage. I too had been planning my life to go perfectly my entire youth and it went to crap anyway. But the part I relate to the most was when he told Rose Byrnes character that he had been working his whole life not to end up exactly where he currently is. That breaks my heart sometimes.
Cassie, as an old fart of a dude, I have to say that I truly can't watch movies any longer without thinking, " I wonder how Cassie would react ...." Besides a " HOLY CRAP", I just guess. You, (and Carly too), are just SOOO much fun to watch and listen to, it's like a "void" of sorts when I watch movies without your commentary and insights! You two are great fun to have around!!! Thank you, and take care, Barry
Ufff such a nice movie, thanks for the reaction!! 🤩 I remember coming across the trailer in YT and then founding a Blue-Ray on sale in a local store that I have to buy it. I'm only child so I didn't experience this type of family dynamics but I enjoy these movies hehe
Yes I have suggestions for you similar to this movie. First one is “Are you Here” and the second one is “Dan in real Life” I don’t wanna spoil it for you all you need to know is similar to this one!
My favorite slice-of-life recs: A League of Their Own (Gina Davis), Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (Sandra Bullock), Dan In Real Life (Steve Carell *perfect autumn film), Home for the Holidays (Holly Hunter *Thanksgiving film), The Family Stone (star studded cast *my favorite Christmas film), and Angels Sing (Harry Connick Jr. *Christmas film)!
I love this movie. First reaction I've seen to it. It's a nice change of pace. For similar themes and a similar feel if recommend "Wish I Was Here". Zach Braff, Kate Hudson, Josh Gad, Mandy Patinkin. Phenomenal cast, excellent film.
I always really enjoyed this movie. Another one that I have always thought of as similar is The Big Wedding. Both of them really slipped under the radar with a stacked cast and I enjoyed both.
'Dan In Real Life' (2007), star. Steve Carrell, Juliette Binoche,…and another impressively large, excellent supporting cast. Same genre, similar tone and accents… You should definitely check it out. …and certainly PiB-worthy.
I've never actually heard of this movie before. After seeing Cassie's reaction, I know my wife would love to watch this. Looks very similar to The Family Stone, a film I think Cassie would love if she watched.
Very nice reaction! If you haven't watched it, a wonderful must see is "A Walk in the Woods" with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. About two friends who haven't seen each other in years go for A Walk in the Woods together along the Appalachian Trail.
This is such a beautiful movie that I feel is seriously overlooked. The first time I watched it I cried. Specifically because the storyline with Wendy and Horry hits so close to home for me. This is one of those hidden gem movies. Knock out cast! Hilarious dialogue, funny and quirky family drama lol.
"The mother in that Jennifer Lopez movie..." Oh, my heart. Jane Fonda is a legend. Jennifer Lopez was basically a co-star.
I break up with the Tina fey and Adam driver scene about how he raised him and it's her voice he hears correcting him. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
NO MORE PIZZA!😂😂
Jason Bateman is one of the most solid underrated actors working today. Since Arrested Development I’ve never seen him give a bad performance. Ozark being his best work yet.
One of the best movies I've seen...adam doesn't leave anything undone... wonderful actors.
This and “The Family Stone” are 2 extremely underrated complicated family movies.
Family Stone is a good one.
Cassie said that's one of her top five Christmas movies.
@@ct6852it should be on everyone’s top Christmas movies. The fact that a lot of people haven’t even heard of these movies is insane to me.
This is also like The Family Stone (for anyone looking for a similar movie). I come from a family of 6 siblings so I feel a personal connection to these types of movies with large-sibling inter-conflict and chaos under one roof. Wouldn't trade those times for anything.
I love the movie Family Stone but it also makes me really annoyed. Lol
Gotta be in my top 5 movies!
I'm a big fan of The Family Stone and this movie as well. I love when a movie is well cast like these.
@@FilmWryter-321 LOVE The Family Stone!!

Huh, somehow I heard snacks as "sex" and did a double-take until I listened more attentively and heard "snacks."
I'm so very sorry about your cousin. May his memory be a blessing. ❤️
My older cousin was the first guy who babysat me. He taught me how to be fun and love life. In 2020 I lost him, my grandfather, and almost my mom in one week. I’m so sorry for your loss and the only thing I can say is those memories keep you filled with love for that person.
@alyzu4755 thank you
@danielgalway8395 thank you I will.
Dan in Real Life is a slice of life type movie. .. youd love it. Cheera!
I love that movie! 😍
This!
Such a lesser known, underrated movie. I love this film. All the performances (specifically Jane Fonda) are incredible. It's just a great family comedy-drama, and I'm super glad you're reacting to it! :)

Haven't even started watching, but as soon as I saw she had watched this, instant click. This is such a Cassie movie, and an all-time, low-key favorite of mine.
Have been so hoping that this would be reacted to.
This is the first film Cassie has done that I'd never heard of before. Lots of talented people in it, so I'm surprised it went under my radar.
There was a decent amount of solid moments left out. If you can, I recommend watching the full movie yourself sometime.
I also love Arrested Development dearly. If you want more comfort movies like this, Dan in Real Life and One Fine Day are right up your alley.
"I had a great job and a nice apartment and I was in love with my wife."

I second that. I just love the way Jason Bateman handles dialogue, whether it's comedy or drama.
Bad Words is my shyt.
Watch the change up as well.
@@MrBoyYankeeI have. While it’s not one of my favorite films by Jason Bateman, it’s still very good.
Teen Wolf Too was my jam as a kid
That Cassie didn't recognize Jane Fonda at first sight makes me feel old.
everything Jason is in is good because of him , not that the others werent BUT JASON ! 😊
Never pegged Cassie as an Arrested Development fan lol :)

Also, yes - Adam Driver is hot. My wife and I agree on this 😂
OMG I LOVE this Movie So Much ❤😍❤ So Happy you are reacting to this.
Adam Driver is a prime example of the female gaze-- so yes, he is very attractive.
He is IT.
I... don't know what that means.
@@jon8004 I don't think it means anything. People come up with all these terms for everything...just say he's attractive.
Wasn’t it just such a well made and well acted and funny and sad movie. I really love this one
Jane Fonda is SO MUCH MORE than "Monster-in-law"...even though it was nice to see her after a 15 year absence (She's a double Oscar Winner,Cassie)👍❤️🎩
Yeah, Klute, Barefoot in the Park with Robert Redford, Barbarella...
Such a shame there isn’t enough reactions to this. It’s a massively underrated film.
This is like the less unhinged movie version of Arrested Development lol
Underrated film, great acting, great book! They actually did the book justice! Perfectly cast
This movie reminds me of that old TV show "Thirty Something." It has the same feel of "A Lot Like Love" but with older adults. It has that same awkward relationships and friendships going on that make you keep watching to see what happens.
Thank you so much for this!! This is one my fav movies of all time and not that many reactions on RUclips. I loved watching you enjoy this film!!
Youve gotta watch adam driver on Saturday night live. O my goodness gracious alive yall...it is tremendous it was shared all over ...adeles too.
This one is a hidden gem. If you haven’t already, check out “Sleeping with Other People”, “While We’re Young”, and “This is 40”. You’ll love those.

Bateman doesn’t do bad!! This cast is easily one of the best casts EVER. The book was one of my favorites of the year and the film DID NOT disappoint.
I loved that Cassie was moved. That made the reaction.
Should totally still do Mystery, Alaska. Its about hockey ya but more of like this movie small town life and relationships then sports.
Okay that is JANE FONDA! lol. I feel like you owe yourself BAREFOOT IN THE PARK with Robert Redford. Grab your sister and watch the best romcom of the 60’s! Hilarious!

The " woman " in the movie that is the mother is the ICON Jane Fonda. ❤ check her out. Love this movie. Thank you for this. I know you'll love it. 🎉
Adam Driver is without a doubt attractive. He’s not “conventionally beautiful” but he’s obviously attractive which is different from beauty. Attractive people are way better than beautiful ones 😉
He's only attractive to you because he's rich and famous. If he was a garbage man you wouldn't look twice. 😂

Horry's (Timothy Olyphant) story is the saddest one, IMHO.
In case you need help making up your mind about Adam Driver being hot, he was a US Marine. Which adds a whole other element to his personality.

fantastic movie!... so based in the real world. my favorite line in the whole movie " look at me, I'm way to old to have this much nothing!"
Very underrated mid-2010's dramedy. It kinda got lost in the shuffle when it came out.
