    Wow the human factor makes all the difference. I didnt expect the Galor to be such a pushover in round 1. Great show! LLAP

      Yes the AI doesn't do well with ships that need tactical approach and maneuvreing. It does ok with big, clunky ships with a lot of all-around firepower.

    Great battle! And using those new Cardassian torpedoes! I really like the "silencer" sound effect for those. 👍

      It was a powerhouse in the 23rd century, a solid light cruiser during the border wars and was not the cannon fodder during the dominion war that most believe it to be. One of the most successful Starfleet designs of all time, beaten only by the
      Excelsior 👍

      @@jonharper4478 In the 2340s-2350s it isn't the distinction you think it is. Starfleet was 95% legacy ships. Starfleet is huge, and the Federation vast. The entire run of the Ambassador Class was like 40. Wars are fought and won based on the ability mass forces. Starfleet is not going to overwhelm an enemy on its own doorstep when by necessity the vast majority of the fleet is no better than their enemies. Russia has technological superiority over Ukraine in 2022. How much use is the T-14 Armata in that invasion? It wasn't, what was more important was that 90% of its tank fleet was T-72s which were no better than the Ukrainian T-72s and T-64s.

    This is really a great battle. No fancy ships with super weapons. Just two older ships testing strengths: Miranda has more firepower, the Galor (Type 1 to be clear) more survivable. This battle would definitely hinge on the quality of the captains.

  • @necroticavalon5176
    @necroticavalon5176 Месяц назад +2

    Very evenly matched. Nice. Of course, AI does a crap job with both (especially the Miranda and it's quick-reload torpedoes). AI vs. AI would've been a very even match I think.
    But yes, these two are basically polar-opposites. Miranda is agile, quick, and has a lot more firepower, but the hull is paper-thin and the subsystems are vulnerable. Basically once the shields weaken, she's dead. Galor is a tank, but has much less firepower.
    Also love the 2x2 torpedo layout on the Miranda, coupled with quick-reload launchers. Definitely fits the ship better now. That quad-spread was just too much.

      @@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 DS9 was notorious for treating "NPC" ships like tissue paper. Basically if a ship isn't one a major character is aboard, it dies in 1-2 hits from anything. Also only the Defiant had actual shields, in that show XD . Oh and the Lakota (and that's because they wanted to show-off the fight).
      CGI cost a lot of money back then, and the episodes had a budget. Special effects were an afterthought, most of the time.

    • @crownprincesebastianjohano7069
      @crownprincesebastianjohano7069 Месяц назад +3

      @@necroticavalon5176 This is mostly true. However, with regard to the Galors, they were intentionally shown one-shotting ships in featured shots. Repeatedly. So it isn't a matter of the CGI team deciding to spice things up. In fact, DS9 while treating ships like exploding pinatas were also conservative in how they depicted certain weapon-systems. One-shot kills were reserved only for a handful of weapons: Quantum torpedoes, DS9's heavy Type XI Phasers, Galor Type III heavy SWD cannons.

    When playing the Cardi, you shoulda targeted the torpedoes on the Miranda, due to the fast reload time.

      What's the point? Miranda's warp core is exposed and weak, and it can be hit from almost any angle, my tactic would be to not even bother with the shield generator, just go straight for the core. And a damage to warp core also lowers the recharge rate of all weapons, so you get the same effect.
