      +Stephanie K. PetitPlat If it's possible, could you share your mold making medium? Btw, I LOVE how the gingerbread house came out along with everything else you do! 😊

      +Jenny Citino it's a two compounds silicone mould. The brand doesn't really matter and I don't remember it :D (I bought a big quantity and there's no branding on the plastic boxes)

      +Jenny Citino There's a store called Miniature Sweet on Etsy that sells this kind of blue silicone mold putty. That's where I get mine. Hope this helps.

      +Mons†erThemis I suppose, I must admit I have no ultimate plan for this channel :D mainly want to sculpt odd things and show them unfold.

    By the way, I've been wondering from long ago: what is the difference between polymer clay and normal clay?

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  9 лет назад +5

      +meganiumheart polymer clay is a clay that polymerize at low temperature. Basically in raw polymer clay you ahve many simple molecules, like O and when you bake it, they will bond together into a chain like this O-O-O-O-O thus changing the inner structure and making it very strong and resistant.
      Regular clay is usually some kind of natural fine rock or soil mixture with a lot of water content. When it dries it becomes hard. Firing at high temperature (700 to 1200°C) ensures a long lasting material through fusing different materials together when they melt, but also while changing inner material structures.
      Depending on the mixture and the firing temperature you will get stoneware or porcelain.

    What is that purple material that you are using to make your molds called?

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  9 лет назад

      +Paul Stoddard you mean the blue material :) it's a two compound silicone mold. In the US it's often purple, but here in Europe it's mostly blue.

    Did you use black paint for the windows? What kind? Great video. Thanks

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  8 лет назад +1

      no, I used a mix of liquid clay and dark brown 'regular' clay. Like the orange "icing" I did.

  • @kristenblack3930

    what mould maker did you use? the one I have seems to dry before it's completely mixed rendering it completely useless. any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  9 лет назад

      +Kristen Black It's a two compound silicone mould. Maybe yours is too old, hence why it's drying too fast? I never had that issue, so can't really help.

    what size round fondant cutter you suggest for making windows, is 20mm ok ?

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  8 лет назад

      no, that would be too big, I used one of 5 mm.
      Then of course, it all depends how big your house is.

      also that is indeed a good way to make your own cutters, I use that technique quite often.

      how long does it take you in real time to make a gingerbread house like this ? it looks like it must take a long time

    • @stephanie.kilgast

      merci :) et je parle français, donc aucun soucis (au passage, on dit "original" tout pareil en anglais - l'anglais provient à 70% du latin, donc il y a beaucoup de similitudes)
