I do the same thing with my little wooden boxes, but my wife had bought a big roll of black felt that has adhesive on the back of it. I basically got a bunch (around 20) of cigar boxes from a local cigar store, and I line them with felt, and keep a different brand in each one. Love your info on these old scout style knives. That clip blade on that 44 is really nice, what a great find that is. Another great one Tobias

The SAK soldiers knife was one of those rare occasions where I preferred the Wenger version over the Victorinox. I liked the bail on it and the reamer was sharper and better made. I ended up giving my Victorinox to a young scout who was financially strapped.

Getting to see that 1944 model really made my day👍And I'm a big fan of the 111mm soldier patterns, I've got the U.S. and the Swiss, plus the civilian Trekker models. But I still need the German army model to complete my collection. Cheers, buddy!

The "shield" on the Soldier is the coat of arms of Switzerland. They use it on the scales since 1977.

I own two authentic Swiss blades. Red handles. One is over an inch thick. Love it. Like your silver metal look

Yeah, thanks Tobias for my continuing education! I just recently picked up a British army (navy?) knife and a Belgian army knife together at a thrift store. Would like to share photos of them with you.

thanks for your video, lots of good things you covered. what's a good place to buy a 79 silver Army Solider you showed with the seal. That's a cool knife.

Hard to say where to buy one. Your best bet is to look for reputable dealers on Ebay and Etsy. We're talking about a knife from 45 years ago.

I still call her pioneer a soldier knife . Because I remember when the pioneer had red alox handles and he soldier was always silver.

The first Alox Soldiers were red, and I believe the first Pioneers were silver, red or yellow :)

the silver swiss soldier knife seems to have wider tools than the pioneer. Could be? Thank you for share!

I don't think they used any stainless steel on the Soldier before the model 1951.

I struggle with what to do with certain knives in the collection, too special for it's usual place but not special enough for it's very own place.
