Love your reaction Jade, this movie had my jaw on the floor pretty much the entire time the first time i saw it. Such audacity 😝
P.S. @21:44 The "little guns" are actually quite deceptive. They are Smith & Wesson .38 snub nosed special's. They were favoured by th FBI and other law enforcement agencies because they were powerful, easily concealable, accurate and extremely reliable.

My favorite story from the book is when he was in Boston, and he bought a security guard uniform, a briefcase, and an "Out of Order" sign. He then went to a mall on a Friday afternoon, and put the "Out of Order" sign over the slot businesses used to drop off their weekly cash deposits. He stood next to the sign, and people just dropped businesses' weekly earnings into his briefcase. Then he just walked out of the mall.

Jade, another great reaction! I especially enjoyed the guest starring Amy Adams as the sweet, but secretly wild and hyper passionate hospital candy striper. Amy really nailed that small role and made it memorable.
Spielberg and composer John Williams expertly recreated the whole period vibe, almost as if it was actually an older movie filmed in the day.

I am way too honest to ever do anything like this. I remember being a teenager and accidentally stealing a chocolate bar from a store in a shopping mall. I reached in my pocket and just found it in there, I panicked the entire time walking back to the store to put it back. That was like 20 years ago.

Another great reaction Jade like always, this movie its so good its one of my favourites and what a deluxe cast, Some fun facts about this movie it took 22 years for the book to be turned into a movie. and frank abagnale admits that the story was exaggerated. Carl Hanratty is based on several FBI agents who pursued Frank Abagnale, mostly one named Joseph Shea. Keep up the amazing work.

This story was based around Frank Abagnale, who has a history of being a criminal con man. And he conned a movie studio, and Steven Spielberg, into believing this story was true and real. He did in real life fake as a airline pilot for a few weeks, and basically stalked a woman at the airline. He also wasn't chased by authorities and FBI during that timeline, because he was already in jail at that time. Even an article about this in Esquire magazine.

His biggest con was convincing everyone that all this was a true story, which it was not. He faked a few cheques and flew a few flights as a dead head pretending to be a pan am pilot, but that was it. Everything else was BS.

Jade your reactions are the absolutely best ever. Divorce/Separation is usually not easy, my Grandpa Webb's parents divorced when he was only 5 or 6 years of age at the time and he only saw his father once or twice after that, he never really had a father figure in his life until he married my Grandma and has said my Great grandfather was more a father figure to him than his father (my great Grandpa Webb) ever was plus my grandfather in Maine is currently in his second marriage, his first marriage ending in divorce since my biological grandmother in Maine cheated on him twice in the first case he let it slide and the second time was the straw that broke the camel's back and they divorced shortly after that and October of 1994 he married my maternal grandmother in Maine. Your background is absolutely awesome, just like you are actually at the movies. You look absolutely gorgeous and beautiful as always

  • @willmartin7293

Frank's book is even better than the movie, Jade. You wondered if he ever actually tried to fly an airliner when he was impersonating a pilot. He wrote that sometimes when he was "deadheading," the plane's captain would invite him to take over as pilot. So, the first thing he would do after sitting down in the pilot's seat would be to turn on the "autopilot." When the FBI interviewed the aircrew of airlines that Frank scammed for free trips, some pilots said that Frank was an actual pilot because he had flown their plane with no problem.

Several years after this film came out, the work of several independent researchers proved that most of Frank's autobiography (on which this film is based) is lies -- and much of the rest severely stretches the truth. It turns out that Frank's most successful con was his autobiography! And yet, he's told his story so much (for a speaking fee, of course) that many believe he has even convinced _himself_ that it's all true.

It’s a shame that most of the things depicted in this movie have proved to be false. Abagnale made most of it up, so he could feel big and important, instead of the petty small timer that he was. Prison records show that he was incarcerated from the ages of 17-20.

He was a fantastic liar. Unfortunately for the enjoyment of the movie, he did none of those things in real life. He was a small-time con artist who told this very tall tale and went so far to write a book about it. He was so good at "the con" that when he was approached about the making of a movie, he successfully lied and said the book was all true ...but it wasn't. It wasn't till after the movie was made and people looked into his story deeper that it was found out its basically completely fiction! No one ever thought to verify the story! When curious internet savvy people started checking up on it all the truth came out. It is true that he is doing well financially now [since the book and the movie and all] and it is true he was even on that game show [to tell the truth] [where he continued the ruse] but they keep records of things like bar exams, doctors, lawyers and such and now the truth of the lie can be found on the internet. Needless to say, he never passed the bar he was never a lawyer or a doctor and on and on. Sad because it does make the movie a little less enjoyable knowing that it isn't a true story and so, simply a work of fiction. I forget all the details of what the truth is but with an easy search on the internet the truth of his life is out there. Great reaction though and it IS a fun movie, and it is best seen believing it was a true story. I only found out after seeing some other reactors do it and reading comments [as I believed it to be true too. Remarkable and fantastic but true but it's not ...sad face here]. Still a fun movie, great acting, good story and enjoyable when one thinks it's all true. Enjoyed the reaction. Sorry to feel compelled to let you in on the truth. [The great imposter a 60s movie, I believe, with tony Curtis is more accurately based on true events if you'd like to see another like this] Still great reaction and I look forward to the next.
