I am 73 and I was & still the fixer in our house. My husband does nothing he was never interested in handy work . Three weeks ago our gas grill stopped working he looked for Bbq service with no success summertime they are all busy, so he decided to throw the Bbq out & buy new one I told him before we do that I’ll try to fix it so I went on line & googled what could be the problem I then shopped around for the parts got the best price & ordered them and yes I fixed the gas grill .
Good job! I wouldn't even know where to start, let alone fix it 😄
My best friend's husband/soulmate of 30 years died suddenly right after they retired in Mexico. She was left all alone (they had no kids) in a country where she didn't speak the language. She needed a HERO so she became one as she says. She had no choice but to handle everything by herself after his passing. She loves her life now in Mexico and although lonely is happy. You never know what you can do until life gives you no choice sometimes. Women are amazing creatures.

"NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A WOMAN" I saw this written in a Ladies Home Journal magazine and it could of been written in neon lights for the impact it had on me. It's so true. I've been surprised when I've heard the amazement in friends and family's voices over situations I've dealt with because it was something that I just did. You do what needs to be done. Period. So I guess I'm a doer as well, Sandra! It's just how I am! 🧡🍑🥰

I'm not alone but I do what needs to be done if I want whatever to look pretty and my spouse doesn't want to do it. Why sit around in stress wishing it would be done. This summer I have pressure washed our house , painted the shutters and painted the foundation. It made me feel good about myself.😊
Awesome! When I was younger, I did the same thing and it made me feel that I had accomplished something. It is a great feeling.
I took care of my kids in the past although I had mental illness and they are in their thirties I give God the credit they turned out good

Susan, you're so right,I'm also 85, I was brought up by my grandmother, she had 8 children, I said I was the 9th. My husband passed 4 yrs ago, his fear was outliving his money...now I have, due to inflation I'm now looking for another part-time job.My YT takes time to grow, and time...my time is slowing not growing.. onward anyway...🙏☀️😊 PS. What a beautiful part of the country!
Weirdly, I’ve been doing double-duty most of my life. My older sister pretended to be near-sighted, so I took over mowing our 1 acre suburban lawn, and at our lake place as well. I fixed and replaced parts on a Swedish Biolet we had on our family island, while my sisters wondered what to do if it broke down for them. Resilience and determination are absolute gifts to our spirits and add to our joy of living!!. We do what we have to do!!! I’m sure women all over the world say and do these things while you and I have lived privileged lives with male backup along the way . However, wherever I can read a manual, swing a hammer, paint a ledge…. It gives me joy! Accomplishment!, and satisfaction that RUclips is always there for me to learn and press on. I’m nearing 70years and I just love being resourceful, independent when it is appropriate, and glad my father instilled in me , in spite of my gentile mother, that women can figure things out!
Absolutely agree. You are amazing!! My father was so handy at everything, so my mother was very lucky…and he taught me to be resourceful just by watching him. As it would be, Arthur couldn’t screw in a light bulb, in spite of all of his other wonderful vertues, so my ‘can do’ skills have really come in handy when a handyman wasn’t available!😍
@@lifewithsandrahart Arthur needed you more than you realize. He was so fun and fascinating and if I had been walking my dogs down Miami streets I would have made friends with him in conversation. But a woman of depth, that you are, can see the vulnerability of even stoic bachelors. I’m sure he transformed because of your influence. It was a rich relationship, and they provide the best memories and laughter.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. We are strong and forever mothers to our children. I'm 72, and my one and only boy is 44, but he's still my baby even though I've been blessed with two granddaughters and one great granddaughter. He's still my boy. Thank you, Sandra, for all you do and also your advice.

Many decades ago I attended a Rosh Hashanah service where the rabbi said “the mother is the glue of the family.” Those words have guided me throughout my life and continue to be my covenant with my family. At times this takes its toll on me. I agree completely with you Sandra, it’s in the DNA.❤

Hello Sandra! I went to see the play,"Girl from the north country." Set in a 1934 boarding house. 6:56 an emotional reminder of how tough life was during the depression Era. My grand parents and of course great grand parents lived through those challenges and did not waver. A lot of stories have bubbled up over the years through my cousins, and aunts. I understand my parents ways better now, as children then they did not know better Mental health, addiction, and as you said, fathers are involved more with helping and loving their families. We all think our lives are so tough, looking back we are spoiled!××
Holly, it really is true, isn’t it? We are honestly spoiled when you think about days in the past and what everyone had to endure. Even childbirth was done at home. Everything they had in their lives they had to work for
Totally agree, as women we get it done! Even though I have a husband my entire married life I have been the one to get it done. He was away a lot of the time related to his job. I married at 18 and just took on the responsibilities of running our home, finances, his 3 children, my one child, just the jumble of life. Now my husband's health is slowing him down and I have even more responsibilities around the home/farm. I approach every problem with an "I can do it" attitude and most of the time I can.. RUclips videos help. As I"m aging, there are some things I have problems with and I need to move slower and be more careful but I still manage.

So true! I am 71 and my 3 sons all came back to live with my husband and I and even though much more to do I know I am up for the challenge! I had them in my late 30s and early 40s so they still not married! I will enjoy this next year and they have always kept me feeling young! Thank you Sandra… you looking beautiful as always❤️🙏🏻💯

Carrying the bed down the road made me laugh 😂. I lived 10 houses down from my mom at one time. I had a Queen size bed frame she was using but she didn’t want it anymore. My husband wasn’t home so I carried a 4 poster bed frame down the street all by myself. I know I gave some people a laugh. I’m not patient and I wanted it done then. 😂

What a beautiful inspirational woman you are. I think I’m strong. I’ve battled Polymyalgia for 4 yrs now and have rheumatoid arthritis, 2 new hips and osteoarthritis. I’m in so much pain every day, but…. I have 4 beautiful grandchildren that I keep going for and really try to see everything in a positive light even though this pain exhausts me. It's funny to me that I worked shopped had one child then, cleaned the house top to bottom. Washed the windows now One Son is living away from home with his partner. The younger child is here. My husband is my carer I can't do all the things I used to. He complains about the jobs he should do. And often does not do them. He does say ( how you did all that is beyond me. Hats off) our youngest shares the cooking with him. He knows but puts these jobs to one side. He is always a brilliant Dad, no question. I digress lol your right women multi task. My mom was born in 1912 and all the things your grandmother did, she did. Such a strong woman. My dad did dad things farming, etc. She cooked for the threshing men who came to our farm. My parents raised 7 children. Later they sold the farm and moved to only 4 acres. When I went to first grade she got a job as a cook for Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. Love my dad also but happen to be talking about women.

I 100% agree women are strong, and we need to acknowledge more. We handle it all from pregnancy to birth to raising our children. That's why we carry, and God chooses women to get the job done. Can you imagine a man getting pregnant?????? 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
