    This is the best TKD vid I"ve seen so far. It doesn't have too many spinny moves or killing apples or very thin boards.

    You're deaf and blind if you can't see the control & precision this guy has. It takes some real dedication and years of training to get to his level. Sure he's doing one steps and you may argue that one steps are not realistic but that does not take away from the fact that this guy is very, very, very good.

    I really liked the variations of the techniques in this demostration. Our techniques were basic just block and punch and some kicking until you got to rec. red/black belt then all kicking. I taught for 13yrs olympic style TKD then had the Gracies and MMA guys show up and started to implement the basics of BJJ for the Black Belts, Then worked out for 3hrs afterwards with the BJJ and MMA guys for two years a lot of fun it went by so fast. Ah miss those days I still watch different styles of Martial arts and still learn different things its a hobby. :) I really wish I scene this demo when I was teaching so much techniques are lost in the modern world I would've taught these techniques so everyone can have a little variety in their techniques for class and self defense when it came time for testing. We had 1-20 techniques but nothing like these. Really cool video, Nice foot work too, those high hook kicks to the head were the way to win tournaments. Its really funny when you make the opponents head gear spin around and their wobbling around like what the hell happened. LOL Its GOLDEN! LOL

    The single Attacks are attacks where the attacker attacks with a single technique, like a one kick or one puch . In multi attacks he attacks you with a combi off techniques like a punch and kick in a single attack

    I agree, I used to practice TKD when I was younger, and used to win most of my matches b/c I was lefty. I used to hit them on the back as well; oh well.

    Great Basic Moves of TKD used in Self-Defense

  • @jtlbb2
    @jtlbb2 11 лет назад +2

    It's not meant to be. It's meant to be a demonstration and to give the practitioner an idea of how the techniques can be used. It's not meant to be against a competitive opponent. What you're saying is a lot like saying a boxer punching a bag isn't realistic because no one would just stand there and take punch after punch.

    The main purpose of Hanbon kyorugi is to develop judgment of distance, to learn control, and to learn how to use your opponents power by attacking his weak points. There two versions of attacks single and multi attacks This not a self-defense exercise

    This One step self defense is used by Black Belt world. Not trying to criticize but this video is so old he is Grand Master Lee. He is the founder or president of Black Belt world which is part of WTF and I learned this and still am. I just tested for my First Dan 1 week ago.

  • @Mcfa

    it´s always the same.. whenever somebody show a video about martial arts.. someone has to critism it.
    All what I read here is which technique is the best and the fastest.. but you forget about the true meaning of a martial art.
    you all forget about the philosophy, discipline and fairness.
    Everbody can throw aggessive punches.. but power without mind is just violence.

    Wats ur opinion?

  • @fartdoken
    @fartdoken 15 лет назад

    He's performing them slowly, focusing on technique more than speed and power so you can actually see what he's doing. I'm only a 1st Dan and even I can see that. Trust me. You don't want to be on the receiving end of a full speed one step.

    You've obviously never taken TKD. It's not all kicks. They're just our long range weapons. Most people don't ever make it close enough for us to use anything else. Mid range is fists and knee strikes, and close range is elbows, hooks, and throws. And though a kick may be easy to read, those of us who have trained have learned to move our legs faster than boxers can move their arms. So by the time you realize what's going on, you're already ko'ed.

    Yep, so do we, but we don't need gear, because if you have good control, you should be able to hit this hard without fear of hurting your partner.
    Like I said, it looks good, but he has no control of his body.

  • @Havik_AoE

    @Mcfa Brute violence is a form of self defence (i dont say it is always the best option)

  • @RDraGon2179
    @RDraGon2179 15 лет назад

    Tru no art is perfect but muay thai is more of a offensive art and better at all three ranges: kicks, punches, and clinches. Taekwondo is more of a defensive art and have great kicks and fairly good punches. That is why it is good for basic self-defense in the streets. But in the ring vs Muay thai, it really don't have any chance because muay thai is so diverse.

    It°s WTF or ITF?

  • @ivoryshark
    @ivoryshark 15 лет назад

    That isn't true. I have seen BB in Judo who don't know how to punch or kick and I have seen BB in TKD who can't grapple. Some people are not shown different fighting ways in their own school.

  • @CapitalCTU
    @CapitalCTU 15 лет назад

    Looks good, but if he has control, why are his partners wearing gear? A good black belt should have enough control to his as hard as this guy without any fear of injuring the partner.

  • @ivoryshark
    @ivoryshark 15 лет назад

    Wouldn't the best self-defense be the mosy simple, just a knee to the balls or a punch to the throat? So, why do you need to practice BJJ with elaborate holds and moves. And the street you don't have matts to wrestle on or a gi to do a gi choke. And BJJ and Judo don't do punches. You didn't even mention Jeet Kune Do or Krav Maga.

    • @MrMattias87

      That's because TKD is derived from Shotokan Karate

    • @covelus

      When I see Shotokan Karate, it reminds me Taekwondo (what I did): so, should I deduce that Shotokan Karate comes from Taekwondo?
      I don't think so, nor the opposite.
      Japan and Korea had contact since thousands of years ago (many times, fighting), I guess they have influences of each other. In my opinion, thinking that there is an original and a copy is having a reduced reasoning capability.

    • @karatekai01
      @karatekai01 9 лет назад

      X. Breogán Costa L reduced reasoning capability no, is the reality, all the masters of the KTA (included Choi Hong Hi) were Black belt 1° Dan in karate, nobody practiced Taekyon. Is necessary to leave the pride, to see the reality, and be humility.

    • @covelus
      @covelus 9 лет назад

      karatekai01 I also practice Kenjutsu, what's the problem with practising other martial arts?
      Anyway, Choi Hong Hi was, actually, 2nd Dan in Karate, yes, but that doesn't mean that he never practised Taekkyeon, in fact, Taekkyeon is where all the kicks come from.
      Modern Taekwondo also has influences from other martial arts.

  • @fartdoken
    @fartdoken 15 лет назад

    If you were in my face, you'd catch an elbow, not a foot. Are you sure you've actually trained in a martial art? You close distance with a TKD fighter and you get elbow smashed or taken down. Things get broken.

  • @PsyPhic
