I love how Luka was not ever hyped like this even though he won MVP and championships in the greatest league outside the NBA. Meanwhile Wemby plays on a lower level league and dominates individually only but they act like he played for Barcelona or Real Madrid. He turned down Barcelona because he wouldn’t look as good heading into the draft. I still like him and think he can be the goat. But the media narrative is always about the sexy not the great.

The point he made was that Andrew Wiggins would have gone number 1 in 2013 along with how Wiggins draft eligibility in 2014 overshadowed the entire 2013 draft. Basically, teams were like “who cares” about the 2013 class and were looking forward to the 2014 class
i would have put luka before lonzo but then again, lavar worked his magic, steph curry with a 40 inch vertical on youtube anyone? while there were concerns if luka's game would translate from euroleague to the nba considering what happened to rubio, so yeah, there was so much hype with lonzo all thanks to lavar

Mate, you are easily just wrong for some of these. The top most hyped and greatest prospects since LeBron are without doubt Zion, Davis, oden, Simmons and KD.
Anyone who doesn't go one and be the solo first pick consideration isn't valid.
Luka is amazing and deserved one but he isn't hyped. Ben was vastly more hyped.
Moving from hype to predicted skill and potential as the other way you could justify, Luka beats out heaps for sure, but also because of his limits as a prospect he will reach higher in those limits than someone with more wasted potential like Simmons or someone who was injured like Oden. It's purely looking at potential in that lense of justification and regardless of whom ends up better, potential wise Simmons might be number one, and your hate for him has just clouded how good he was. He didn't reach near the potential he could have and that is what pisses people off, but also is exactly why he is the biggest prospect he just didn't fill in by going down a storyline that developed it. Honestly I kinda blew the 76ers as they seem to ruin pretty much everyone from fultz to Simmons and that other big pick them also Embiid even in playoffs who should be better but they obviously haven't equipped him to do better in them etc
