Poland has made a bold stand against allowing in economic migrants as well.
We do allow economic migrants. Depending on who is counting, we already have one million of Ukrainians (who also happen to be war refugees to some degree). We just don't want Muslims. Ukrainians are much closer to us both culturally, and mentally than Middle Easterners, and unlike them, Ukrainians assimilate easily. They work hard, don't want benefits, and most of them want to eventually go back. Not to mention none of them will even think of blowing themselves up, despite some great historical animosities between our countries.
Win-win for both us and them.
@Carl the poor yes:) but safe and happy racist:) people are equal of course but cultures are NOT equal, some cultures are much better and effective then others, if you call this racism Ok it's your sick interpretation.. we don't judge people because of skin or race but we judge them because of cultural habbits.

Largest Castle in the World guys
Yes, it is the largest castle in the world indeed, but not built by Polish. It was built by Teutonic Knights from Germany. But we Polish beat them and conquered this part of Pomerania :) Greatest battle was in July 1410 when Polish-Lithuanian joint army defeat less countered but much stronger Teutonic army killing their Great Master. Every Polish is proud of that day.
Fun fact: Teutonic Order and Livonian Order were created by christian Germans and Poles, but those first ones hadn't understood the rules on which it was supposed to work, so they switched from saviors of christianity into villains really fast.
This is Marienburg which was built by the German Teutonic Knights in 1274. The Germans that lived here Eastern Germany were ethnically cleansed by the Polish.
@Mateusz Kurczoba it wasnt even "polish land" to begin with. heathen prussians owned it and by right of conquest the teutonic order took it, with the blessings of the papacy. and yeah there whas some shady dealings back and forth. thats how realpolitik in those days worked, but it always depended on the greater scheme of things. at many times the TO and polish kingdom still helped each other out, traded etc. what many slavs dont seem to understand is that the hre whas one of the few great powers. with that come satelite-state constructs in neigbouring nations. and while england for instance spread famine in ireland and kicked scots from the highlands, the hre and prussia built prague, danzig, breslau etc etc. and then well, czech landed nobility got jealous of city wealth and poland sided with napoleon instead of its neighbour...which resulted of course in prussia, russia and austria disolving poland. but even then, prussia wasnt a bad overlord in the sense others where. its an unfortunate co-existence, but context is relevant to not hate each other.
@@danielprasal4147 poland-lithuania outnumbered the TO almost 2 to 1 and there where only 270 actual teutonic knights present. that the grandmaster died whas because he fought heroicly trying to turn the tide, but the whole war with poland whas his doing so there whas no turning back, after his famed older brother who conquered big parts east and gotland and previous grandmaster told him and everyone else not to go to war with poland. but he did and he died at least like a man...a stupid man.

Your videos are amazing, i just started watching them today. I was born in Krakow, Poland in 1977 but moved to London, Ont,Canada with my parents in 1987 and i never been back to Poland. I am amazed at how everything looks now, even tho i don't remember much from Poland because i was 10 years old when i left, but i do remember people were not happy back then, boy how the times have changed. Thank you so much for these video's.

Built entirely by the German Teutonic Knights. Actually its called Marienburg castle, at least thats what the Germans who built Marienburg castle in West Prussia called it before they were ethnically cleansed.

actually the train toilet thing is a bad idea especially on newly upgraded tracks between Warsaw and Gdansk but it happens only on old types of trains and is gradually replaced with containers on new trains...

It's worlds biggest middle age castle. In this castle is the first world flushing toilet. There is one more interesting thing in Poland you must visit. Zamość is the biggest architekture treasure of Poland, the town was planned by best italian architekts. Enjoy Poland ,greetnigs from Warsaw

Don't waste chance to visit Zamość, you've said that you are going to Ukraine next, its located on the way to Lwów. You can feel like you are in north Italy and every detail of old town was renovated. Zamość was the most powerfull polish fortress, It was never taken in fight. It's a mix of many cultures and religions that vere living in first republic of Poland Most of town you have already seen had postgerman achitekture, this town is something totally different. It's 16th century town that survived both world wars without damage with original polish style. Try to see it its worth of visiting.
@@browarman That is B.S. Lviv was built in a trend of Central European baroque ( mostly) design . The city itself is , with it's architecture , compared to Vienna and Cracow . It is said that these three cities are build in triplet likenesses . No surprise here , since two centuries ago , " triplet " of the cities lied in borders of Austro-Hungarian Empire .
The castle is very beautiful! Tbh, trains in Poland can suck quite a bit. I missed my train to Malbork by just a minute and the next train from Warsaw to Malbork wasnt for another two hours. I ended up getting to the castle at 5pm and left when it closed at 7pm. Although I rushed a bit, I still got see all of it. On the way back, when I returned to the teeny tiny train station, there was no train back to Warsaw until 12:30am!!!!!!! I had to wait in the tiny station all by myself. Everything in the tiny town closed down. When the train finally arrived, it was a dark, rusty, incredibly smelly old train and turned out that if you didnt book a seat in advance you had to ride standing. I rode for 3hours and 39 minutes standing in the smelly train. Just an FYI to plan carefully if you go.
So sorry to hear about your experience with the train!! Hope you had a good evening visit to the castle and thanks for sharing your advice with other travellers 👍
I have no idea where you're from . I live in North America , and the transit system here is quite embarrassing . Poland is a haven for practicing good transit system .

You couldn't be king or queen on that castle? Not exactly. King Casimir IV Jagiellon bought the castle from Teutonic Order for 660 kg of gold. So it was Polish kings' residence in the years 1457-1772.
Not exactly . It was bought from Czech or Bohemian , if you will , warrior mercenaries . The Teutonic Order could not pay that much , so the latter .
Seems like , by the way you say it , Malbork became Royal Castle . But it was , of course , Wawel and then Warsaw King Castle .

common movie/fairytale mistake - queen didn't rule anything, she was just king's wife and her main duty was to make children. The queen that rules is called queen regent or a king (depends on country in Poland we had few female kings; if you got confused about it look at it as today's president - it's generally a male possition and his wife doesn't fill any particular role, but it can also be women who gets elected - and as for that most of the polish kings were elected). Back to rulling thing - the castle would be run by some designed knight/nobleman.
As for Malbork - during the main summer seasons there's knight tournaments and medival fairs organised there

Poland had only one female king. Also, it depends on the kingdoms succession law. The were kingdoms with such succession law allowing females to inherit and rule.

Actually it's Marienburg castle in West Prussia. Marienburg castle was built by the German Teutonic Knights in 1274. This entire region known as "Prussia" was historically part of eastern Germany before it was ethnically cleansed and the original German inhabitants were replaced by Polish.
Actually, the original Prussians had absolutely nothing to do with Germans. Some of them still live to this day. There was not a single German there until XIII. century.

It was built as a capital of Teutonic Order, the most powerful and vicious state in Europe backed by the medieval caesar of the Roman Empire along with whole Western Europe, but eventually crushed by Poland and turned Poland fief in 1466.

Feather and the Wind These comas are not accents, they are separate letters - ą sounds like sound on. Accent in polish is always on 2-nd syllable from the end. Except some words that come maily from latin.

wow, you really have growing viewers base over 46000! I saw your video last year and I went to see the castle last month. I am from Poland however that was my first time there. I spent full day there. I was in Canada in 1999 for summer. I would like to visit again when I have a chance.

Hi, you also should visit Szczecin, it's not far from Gdańsk, we also have castle but smaller :) and the most beautiful building in Europe in 2015 (prize Miesa von Rohe) and interesting facts about Szczecin before second war it was German city and called Stettin, and also in Szczecin born two Russian Queens ( i don't know how is in English "Caryce") Catherine II and Maria Fiodorowa . If you decided visit I'll take day off, and I show you everything what i know. And BTW I love your videos :)
Honestly, I wouldn't say Szczecin is the best option for them.
I mean - they spend like one, maybe two days in each city. After one day you can surely say that Wrocław has beautiful architecture and Kraków is magical, but you can't say anything similar about Szczecin cause it's not a city to love on a first sight. There's no real old town or old town square to spend a whole day on. There's more in the background, then in the foreground. You need to spend some time here and then you're gonna love it or hate it.
Szczecin is just like the Philharmony you've mentioned. You can love or hate it's exterior but you'll surely love the music inside.

yes, you're right we don't have typical old town, or square like in Kraków or Wrocław but who sit all day in one place, Szczecin has a lot interesting places to see

Zamosc has an incredible system of city walls and fortification , making the whole old city a fortress . Of course it has a train station and a market , which mentioning of , is quite pathetic .

Also, if you visit a museum in Poland on Monday, most of the exhibitions are closed. The same goes with Malbork castle - most of the exhibitions are unavailable on Mondays.

well... it was at first the Monastick Order Castle (of Teuton Knights) and it was build to be capital of Teutonick Order (wich was enemy of Poland and Lithuania) and was inconquerable at its time, so i can say Germans did realy good job building this castle...

I was informed when in Malbork that this castle discount is actually because of smaller amount of time, and of course less number of places visited there. ;)
BTW the music is too loud!
The castle is brick because there are no quarries in that area but plenty of clay. I did ask the guide how they fired the brick. There is no coal there either so they deforested the area to fire all those bricks.

Malbork Castle was almoast entirely destroyed during WW2, so those are "new" bricks :] When i was in Malbork ~10 years ago, Castle wasnt fully reconstructed yet :[

The Polish contribution was to rename Marienburg castle after the Polish ethnically cleansed the Germans who built Marienburg.
After Thirteen years war [ca 1458] the castle was in Polish hands to 1772. You can see in castle`s church where all altars were founded bu Polish noble families who then governed it for the King of Poland

The castle was built by Germans not Polish - it was the biggest castle of Teutonic Order (German Knights that were invited by Polish Prince to convert old-Prussians into Christianity - The Old-Prussian tribes were pagans before that).
It was build by the Teutonic Order - not Germans. There were Germans among Teutonic knights too, but not entirely. The knights were from all over Europe. The Polish and Nazi-German propaganda later made people believe the Teutonic Knights are solely Germans.
