  • Lómagnúpur is one of the most impressive rock faces along the south coast of Iceland. Seemingly impossible to hike, there actually are a few trails. None of them easy and some require climbing.
This is a full-day hiking adventure, which invoices route finding in places. While the hike it's long and rather strenuous, it is a very beautiful one. Silence, rough and pristine landscapes, and you're likely to meet no one on the trail.
The summit is not actually the top of the roick face, but it's about 3km behind it. Unfortunately, i did not get to see much of the panorama from either the summit and or top of the cliffs on the side of the rRing Road. I'll take it as the perfect excuse to do it again the next time I'm in Iceland.
Here's how to get there, the full hike report and several photos from this hike:

I just read your email about the Troll Rock Formation, excellent photography as always.

Thanks so much Jim! I don't actually have one from this particular location but I have seen a few on RUclips, so if you search for Hvítserkur, you should be able to find them
