The island nation has a human population of 30 million and is the 4th largest island on the planet after Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo. So how did Madagascar become Madagascar.. How did it get its name?

On the southern island of Sulawesi, Indonesia, there is a city called Makasar. The ancient name of Makasar is Mangkassara. The native tribes of Sulawesi Island are sailors, or live at sea, like the Bajau and Bugis tribes. This is just a hypothesis, there are similarities in sound between Mangkassara and Madagaskara.

You have it all wrong my friend. Most of what you say is twisted in order to comfort your biased theory that suggest that the naming came from a mistake with Somalia (Mogadishu).
Madagascar was indeed a naming that appeared in Maps of Arab speaking navigators, but before that this island had many names, among which was a native naming (the Europeans also had a proper naming for the island before).
It is not accurate that you claim that the name of the country is what it is, because it derived from a mistake made by Marco polo.
For your information Madagascar means "The island of the Malays" (do you see any people of Malay or Austronesian ethnicity in Somalia?).
And also there are indeed scientific articles that explain all the different meaning of the Different naming of the island of Madagascar. You should make more research about it (its is mostly in French language).

1:10 you got the islands wrong. The new guinea is actually borneo island and the island is bigger, you only show the Indonesian part of the island. Borneo is actually New Guinea.
Correction: Madagascar movie was made by DreamWorks actually, you also got New Guinea and Borneo mixed up with the pictures

Madagascar is so different From other African country. Mostly cuz of their language who does not have any similarities with any African languages. Malagasy languages takes is origine from Austronesian.

it's not Somalia who give Madagascar name but the Indonesian settlers who came first to the island. Madagascar has a meaning words in Indonesian language it means the flower garden.
Somali kingdom rulled East Africa and parts of Asia Like Maldives. Do more researces Indonesia come but not name.

Somali sultans have always been in that region hence why Somalis are there along with others but it was mainly Muslim Africans who have built connections with even Asians.
Another explanation most have never heard of ,long long ago when its African population settled there , im talking thousands of years ago. The ancestors of that land called it Matagadzikwa( Karanga,Shona word meaning where we have been placed. This implies they moved from the Mesopotamia area and was ordained by the Creator to live in a new area since their previous home was rundown by european invaders.
