  • Hull-House is widely considered one of the most haunted places in Chicago. There are many accounts of paranormal activity occurring within its walls and Jane Addams Hull-House Museum is an avidly-pursued location for ghost hunters and paranormal investigators. For the first-time Hull-House invited ghost hunters to spend an evening looking for The Devil Baby, The White Lady and other spirits that have haunted Hull-House for over one hundred years. Before they entered the museum, Hull-House Education Coordinator Nadia Maragha interviewed Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej of Ghost Files.

    About Jane Addams Hull-House Museum:
Jane Addams Hull-House Museum serves as a dynamic memorial to social reformer Jane Addams, the first American woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and her colleagues whose work changed the lives of their immigrant neighbors as well as national and international public policy. The Museum preserves and develops the original Hull-House site for the interpretation and continuation of the historic settlement house vision, linking research, education, and social engagement
The Museum is located in two of the original settlement house buildings- the Hull Home, a National Historic Landmark, and the Residents' Dining Hall, a beautiful Arts and Crafts building that has welcomed some of the world's most important thinkers, artists and activists.
The Museum and its many vibrant programs make connections between the work of Hull-House residents and important contemporary social issues.
Founded in 1889 as a social settlement, Hull-House played a vital role in redefining American democracy in the modern age. Addams and the residents of Hull-House helped pass critical legislation and influenced public policy on public health and education, free speech, fair labor practices, immigrants’ rights, recreation and public space, arts, and philanthropy. Hull-House has long been a center of Chicago’s political and cultural life, establishing Chicago’s first public playground and public art gallery, helping to desegregate the Chicago Public Schools, and influencing philanthropy and culture.

As someone who has been a fan for a long time, I’ve always gone into episodes with an admiration for their personalities, their humor, and a general appreciation of the content. But I never thought about it too hard why it’s so great. Their point that they would go to some locations and not find much, it’s true, that is endearing. But the respect they have for the history and the education all while making it entertaining. It’s really fulfilling and amazing.

I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate the interviewer not rushing them through their answers and really letting them just talk about their experiences and ideas.

I used to work at a hotel in San Francisco called Hotel Majestic. When I worked there I was warned during the interview that strange things might happen during my night shift. I think it was the most haunted hotel I have ever worked at or been in. While I was working there in the kitchen and as front desk stuff I found out that the manager previous had killed himself because the ghosts had gotten into his head he jumped from the apartment located behind the kitchen. The Portrait directly across from the workers station in the lobby is Martha she was the daughter of the manufacturer who built the building. she refused to leave after her father died and the building was sold to become a hotel.
She ended up dying in room 409. This room was out of order the entire year that I worked there due to strange things happening such as Sink fixtures flying out of the wall, beds and furniture being completely flipped over; windows broken, and people in the next-door rooms experiencing things such as their phones suddenly floating up and recording them or showers overflowing to the point of flooding their entire room. this was chaos for me as an attendant of the front desk because almost every night I would get a call letting me know that something weird was happening in the rooms. After a little over a year of working there I had to quit because I thought I was losing my mind. I went to a partial hospitalization program because I thought I was crazy but within two days of leaving the hotel I was perfectly fine and I didn’t have these terrible feelings anymore. I have never been back since. Google says that the hotel next door the queen ann is even more haunted I don’t even want to find out there’s so many parrots and so many weird things happening at this hotel don’t even want to find out what’s happening if you guys could find out for me that would be greatly appreciated thank you a concern fan

Awesome interview! So cool to hear about their mindset when making their episodes and the reasons why their style is so effective. It’s a great honest method of ghost hunting, just have a good time, if stuff happens it happens, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. Either way their humor and personalities make every episode memorable.

These are the only guys that dont use fake "evidence" in order to make their show better. Every other ghost show seemed like the producers planted some evidence to make things exciting

Shane!! You big flirt! I felt for Ryan as you kept yourself from the usual outlandish, often grotesquely wonderful, outbursts, BUT, you also curbed Ryan to try and impress the clever pretty academic lady. Well done Ryan, you stuck to your guns and I applaud it.
