I think the biggest strength of unsolved supernatural was specifically how little evidence you guys found. Its what made the show so damn trustworthy, we knew you weren't faking anything.
yes! it was so fun to come along and hear the story, but also know we weren’t being BS’d with fake evidence.
Kind of makes it fun too cuz then you could look up the whole story and knno more info
It helped that even Ryan always opened the episodes by saying "ongoing investigation into ARE GHOSTS REAL."
It was clear that the point of the series was to investigate _whether or not_ ghosts even exist. Despite Ryan's extremely low threshold for what constitutes "convincing evidence" (can you tell I'm a Shaniac lol), it still set the show apart from pretty much every other paranormal series, which almost always take the existence of paranormal phenomena as granted from the start.
@@AstroPsych_ You said it all, and it just made me like Ryan even more, because even though he clealry believes in ghosts, he's never trying to push down our throats that ghosts are there. With him, it's a matter of "I believe, but I know this ain't enough proof to convince everyone" and not "everything is ghosts, ghosts, ghosts!"

Exactly! The show succeeded so much because of how awesome their personalities are! As soon as I heard of Watcher and that Steven Lim would be a part of it, I knew it was going to be an amazing trio! We’re all here for them, not just because of unsolved. ❤️ They have such great ideas for videos too! Too Many Spirits is one of my favorite series, I’ve rewatched all of them by now lol
The success of Unsolved was pretty simple. It was a show that attracted both believers and skeptics. And unlike other ghost hunting shows, skeptics like myself were enjoying it instead of just hate-watching. I'm a Shaniac for sure, but I also love Ryan's naive innocence and passion. If there's a more cohesive combination of personalities in any media, I haven't seen it.
I think the part of it is you can tell they're actually friends off screen. They know their opposite stances but are still able to navigate each of their beliefs without the other downright being disrespectful.

Yeah! At least they don't have Unsolved to worry about now. I commented this before but the way Ryan describes how he was working isn't healthy, and I'm sure he knows that. I wonder if he's ever considered seeing a therapist to learn how to manage the stress, because the time for that would be now *before* he starts the burnout cycle again. I'm just a random person on the internet lol but I hope this comes across as genuinely caring rather than condescending!

I honestly don't think he knows what a vacation is! My mother is like this and she's almost 82 years old! There are just some driven, relentless humans out there who actually find their joy (and stress) through exhausting themselves.

Shaniac gear suggestion: infrasound detector, one potential explanation for some ghost sightings are the effects of infrasound. Even if the ususal angle is trying to collect evidence FOR ghosts, I think it'd be interesting to have counter evidence that isn't just forcing Shane to come up with a reason. And either way the affects of infrasound are super interesting!
Myth busters did something with infrasound and found that it's a myth and not something that makes people think something is haunted

Without Buzzfeed limitations I'm exited for Ghostfiles but the thing that really got me hooked with Unsolved supernatural was that you guys were honest and not faking evidence for the views.
When Ryan started talking about how he felt overwhelmed with work and how he felt he just needed to power through his day-to-day and hope that one day things will get better/easier .. that's like me rn and I feel such relieve hearing it from him cause gave me the motivation and hope to see my work through till the end.
Listening to Ryan talk about his ideas for Ghost files....buzzfeed was holding you back man. This is going to be amazing.

to Ryan and everyone else thinking about branching out: the responsibility of providing financial security to employees who are also your friends is stressful. but getting paid and having creative freedom *for now* is huge even with the uncertainty that you won’t be able to do this for the rest of your life. what is the worst that can happen? the watcher goes bankrupt and every single person in the team has an amazing portfolio to get a job in big entertainment companies again?

I like these guys cause they seem to be the most honest. A lot of the "ghost hunters" in the business will fake a lot of stuff just to draw viewers. Also I love how they have Shane's sceptic view alongside Ryan's believer view.

Sometimes it's hard to follow some jokes because my first language is obviously Spanish but i deeply LOVE your content and I can tell how much effort you're putting into this new project.

I really hope that they're starting to do ghost hunting again because they want to and not because they feel pressured to. I genuinely enjoy these two because of the dynamic they have and I don't want them to be pushed to do something they don't want to. Ghosts is where it may have kicked off, but we're ride or die baby
I think they wanted to do ghost hunting again, but that they wanted to get out from under Buzzfeed's oppressive thumb.
I always appreciate when people talk about their own burn out. Especially Ryan speaking to the notion of just pushing through it (like all those people who talk about "the grind"), but then realizing he just couldn't do that every time anymore. That's a really powerful thing to admit.
Ryan, you're an amazing content creator. You care about the things you make and you care about the people who make them with you. Sometimes creating a good product involves making more time to rest so you don't wear yourself down. You've got brilliant ideas in that head of yours, a team that'll help you make those ideas reality, and an audience who doesn't mind being patient so that you can stay healthy.

Don’t burn out Ryan!! We love the content, but we love you more. The only way to prevent burn out is to rest, so take a vacation! Watch some Netflix! Go to a spa! Idk what ever you need to do to unwind. Remember that reaching long term goals is like running a marathon not a sprint.
Ghost Files is like X-Files but with more ghosts
ryan is incredibly strong and passionate and this is just more evidence of that. i hope during those really tough times where he was pulled in a bunch of directions, he had someone to treat him gently and softly and help him even if he thinks he doesn't need it. i know people who go hard like he does, and i know the kind of care people like that need to be able to do the amazing things they do.
I for one would love to wait longer for content if it meant that these lovely people enjoy working on it and don’t burn themselves out. Love you all for everything you’ve brightened up our lives with!

Ryan is a perfectionist and doesn’t give himself enough credit! It’s what makes an amazing show, but it may burn him out. Balance is so hard especially for those of us who seek perfection. Having said that- I would love to see (and am excited to see) better gear!! Would love to see EVP sessions and cameras that could detect heat/light unseen to the naked eye. Better technology all around would definitely help ghost hunting. Love the Ghoul Boys and looking forward to the new show!! 💚

I will never forget the day that my friend introduced me to Unsolved. I actually met her that same day, but she became one of my best friends in the world. Because of Ryan and Shane, and their shenanigans. I was heartbroken when Unsolved came to a close, but as long as I got to see you and your team continuing to create brilliant content, I would be happy. I almost cried when I saw the trailer for Ghost Files though. I am so excited. You guys are my favorite content creators online.
All this said... take a damn vacation. You need it, for real.

I am a fan of the paranormal and the shows via tv or RUclips. Out of all of these shows I have to say I really admire the dynamic relationship between these guys. What also helps with my fondness for what they do in the paranormal realm is the sarcasm. Almost anyone can try to be funny during investigations be it that the investgator could just be trying to not show the level of fear they are at. But when you add in the the spitfire wit and sarcasm of Ryan and Shane it's sooo necessary to NOT pass on their experience because whether or not you do believe in ghosts you still can't help but appreciate the comedic side to it
I loved all the paranormal shows in the past but looking back they're so cheesy and obviously packed with bs. These guys reignited my interest in it because they have the personalities to do it justice without it being corny or fake. It's more about their humor and friendship, the paranormal stuff is more like the extra part of it that I can enjoy. I feel the same way about the Achievement Hunter guys and their paranormal show. They did it in a similar way where it was more about their characters and their humor than convincing people of click bait bs. I'm really looking forward to what they do with this format, as long as their personalities are still the driving force behind it I have no doubt it's going to be a success.

Just wanted to thank everyone there at Watcher for the work you do to make the world a little kinder and more fun. And can we take a minute to appreciate Ryan? It broke my heart to listen to someone with anxiety like mine push through more work than I could ever handle and give so much of himself in the process. Ryan, we appreciate you so much and I hope you know that your work truly makes a difference in our lives. Unsolved, both Supernatural and True Crime, made me smile when I felt like I was stuck in my own pit. It made me laugh so hard at 3 a.m. that I had to stifle the sound so as not to wake my neighbors, while still giving me goosebumps as I flinched under my blankets at unexpexted jumpscares.
When I found out about Watcher, I was intrigued but initially had no idea it was created by Shane, Ryan, and Steven leaving Buzzfeed(which I had only watched for Unsolved and occasionally the odd interview).
Now, I get all those same feelings of absolute joy and fascination from almost all of Watcher's content, never being disappointed or leaving without a grin.
Thank you, to the entire Watcher crew, for your hardwork and for creating such wondrous content for us viewers to enjoy. You're all incredible and I hope you have a very Happy New Year.😄🎆🎇

I didn’t realize how burnout I was until Ryan’s pit analogy strongly resonated with me. At the beginning of the pandemic my coworker said these years during the pandemic are probably the hardest we’ll ever work and it’s hitting me hard now. Thank you Watcher for continuing to preserve during these trying times. I hope you all give yourselves breaks because we would all love for you to continue to make amazing content. This is probably my 5th time watching this video and it’s giving me the strength to keep going while also trying to create good balance.
So proud of all the Watcher team has accomplished. Don’t know why I’m feeling so emotional watching this! Y’all have come so far and keep giving us amazing content no matter what. Can’t wait to see what’s coming in the new year!
This a question specifically for shane: given that you didn’t want to become one of the best ghost hunters in the game, would you say that waking up and realizing your a ghost hunter would be the same as a comic waking up and realizing they’re a prop-comic?
All the Watcher production stuff has been such a bright spot in the pandemic for me, all the different shows have just been lovely little nuggets of delightful entertainment to look forward to during the week. Tbf i think this is the first making watcher i've watched, and dang Ryan really shows his brilliance as a creator- being able to look at a successful product and seeing a clear compelling path for a 'sequel' is- I mean, that's what it's all about. That level of creativity *and* being a fun dude to watch? No wonder he's been so successful.
Ya got da spark man. You can definitely afford to go easy on yourself about the nitty gritty of production and logistics bc the ideas and motivation behind it all seem like an extremely solid foundation, it shines through the products you put out. As a consumer I literally can't go anywhere else for what the crew at Watcher's been serving up. I (and I'm sure everyone else) will wait 4 u(r content whenever it comes out), so if you hit burn out, let that engine cool down man!! (excitebike metaphor)

Hi, I caught The supernatural buzzfeed by accident & watched Ryan & Shane.. Their chemistry was what hooked me i would watch anything they were in. I'm so happy they have their own channel. Watcher is Awesome. Puppet History is so enjoyable everything they do makes me happy & I need that. Can't wait for Ghost Files, but seriously, it's the chemistry guys. (& Obviously all the hard work from everyone) you all deserve to make a good living you bring some joy into the world.✌️
