    Yes, the late Scott King is one of the best bassists you've never heard of. Bassists recognize how special he is immediately, other musicians not far behind, and most everyone else after a mere song or two.

    They are by far the best cover band out there. I have followed them for years. Every song they do is awesome. Now listen to them doing "Don't worry baby" by the Beach Boys.

    Jeff, you've only barely scratched the surface of this group. There is a lot of great listening ahead. My four-year-old granddaughter loves the group. She knows all their names and can sing a lot of the lyrics. And lately she's able to navigate to their RUclips channel all by herself.😃

    This is the first studio recorded video they posted, 2 years after the last time they had played live.(the girls were all gone to Nashville and thought the F&F fun was over) but here they were Labor Day weekend 2019, the best was yet to come. First song with all 3 ladies and both Darwin and Toby on guitar. Maggie hadn't sung with them in 5 years, stepped right back in singing beautiful as ever. 4 years (2major/2minor) in commercial voice at Belmont University didn't hurt either...

    Note that this cover and the last one reviewed are 13 years apart. They are all talented and when Maggie, Sammie, and Chase get together it is magic. To see how good the young ladies can harmonize look at "Mr. Sandman" (along with Sammie's sister).

      2010 and 2019. This was the first one posted after they reunited in late 2019. It got about 100,000 views in 3 days. Vocals for Sandman were also recorded Labor Day weekend '19.

    When you listen to Mr. Young's version, you'll notice the harmonica play in the song. This version is so good that it isn't needed and actually sounds better to this F & F fan.

    So glad to see a knowledgeable and experienced musician reviewing Foxes and Fossils and recognizing how good they are and appreciating the increasingly-rare gem that they are. Like many, I discovered them during the COVID shutdowns and have been obsessed with them since. I don't have formal music training beyond a lifetime of church music, but I have heard/seen every stitch of recordings from these guys, and the quality of their instrument playing, recording, mixing, video work seems almost flawless throughout, and is the real deal, not over-produced, artificial, etc. You mentioned the great "backing" vocals, and that is another of the features that is consistently stand-out goodness in almost all of their recordings. Good info on their story on their website, and in case you or viewers aren't aware, there is a last-chance weekend pay-per-view of their 2022 concert in about a week which I've watched several times and is fantastic. They have some desire, but might never get together for another live performance again. I highly recommend that, all of their RUclips vids, and all of their self-published recordings for purchase (I notice better quality sound vs RUclips).

    Jeff to see all 3 Foxes sharing lead and harmony together, check out “Telling Me Lies” (from the Trio), and “Hazy Shade of Winter” (from Simon and Garfunkel). The girls do an amazing job on both. There are just so many great covers by this group.

    Jeff, Suite Judy Blue Eyes was the beginning of the live shows when the girls were in high school. This song marks the start of their recordings in the studio. Basically, Maggie noticed that RUclips views were starting to take off and people were asking when new stuff was going to be posted. I guess she persuaded everyone else to record even though they were all living in several US States. If you look at the studio recordings you will notice that rarely are they all in Tim's basement. As this was the first new song in several years it generated quite a few views rather quickly.
    While I enjoy this song it probably doesn't make my top 10 list of theirs. I am sure you will be getting several more requests for this group that you will like much better. Even so, I prefer this version over Neil Young's.

    That's the key to how wonderful these artists are - no egos. They support each other, trade off vocals and harmonies, and instrumentation Let's face it. Although they're often separated, the years together have made them one, terrific musical family. I've loved this group ever since I stumbled upon their version of Todd Rundgren's "We Gotta Get You A Woman", during their early Twisted Taco days. They've long outlasted that taco joint.

    So glad you're doing the reactions to these cover bands like Foxes and Fossils, Leonid and Friends and Lexington Lab Band. I've seen Leonid and Friends already and I'm schedules to see them again in April. I've seen Foxes and Fossils at the two shows they did back in December of 2022 which was the first time they had performed live in almost five years...the fans are hoping we don't have to wait another five years, because they are nothing short of amazing in concert. Folks came from all over the USA and from other countries for those two shows. I was supposed to see Lexington Lab Band this past September but got sick a couple of days before the concert so I'm hoping to get to see them this coming September. They only do one concert a year around the first week in September. None of these three bands are your average bar band. I've seen and heard hundreds of bar bands over my 70 years and these three groups far exceed that. I love their videos and have their music on CD's...Yes, I'm old school but I love driving my old truck and popping a CD into the player as I travel down the backwoods of Southern Georgia. Great reaction my friend and a new subscriber!!!

    I thought it was another great performance by FnF. I did not enjoy the keyboard so much. I thought it was rather harsh and lacked sustain.

    • @lynwessel2471
      @lynwessel2471 6 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on play back device. Plenty of sustain heard here. Even moreso on the download of the same recording.
