It depends on what the fears are. Some things are dangerous and crazy and should be avoided.

Yes - I believe facing your fears whatever they are is the only way you will conquer those fears . I had a neat drowing experience as a child - I refused to swim in lakes afterwards I was so terrified - I was in a powerboat and my sister was waterskiing when she fell and got tangled up in the skies and the rope - I didn’t think twice jumped off the boat and swam to her and helped get her untangled - we swam back to the boat and my fear of lakes was gone . If I had let my fear keep me on the boat my sister might not have survived .

How long was it between ur near drowning & ur sister's accident? I'm curious how many times you've not gone with friends or what not. After getting over your fear in your head you say, "that was easy, easier than I thought".

    • @elnabjelland-hughes8172
      @elnabjelland-hughes8172 5 лет назад +1

      Michael Mace
I was eight years old when I had the near drowning incident and I was sixteen years old when I went into the water to help my sister . Prior to today I had no desire to swim in a lake because I could not see the bottom and my near drowning happened because I had gone into deeper water without my knowledge . It was after I conquered my fear that I got into white water rafting and kayaking something I love to do - it’s something I would have never experienced if I hadn’t conquered my fear .

@@elnabjelland-hughes8172 Hi Elna!! This mom found her child under a very heavy pole & without thinking some how pick it up, moved it and saved her child.
If I could cross that very scary bridge I'd think of my sons needing me (they're grown now) and it would make it alot easyer to cross it.
Sending you lots of light & luv.😙

Brought back fond (and scary) memories of when my friend and I walked over that bridge in 1993. It was in a lot better shape back then, but I think you did a great job in your video explaining some of the same fears we experienced! If anyone is interested, that bridge is on the old Jessup Branch of the Erie Railroad and is referred to locally as the "Jessup Bridge" or Rock Junction Bridge". The junction you came across on the other end was called Rock Junction and it is where the Jessup Branch joined the Erie's Wyoming Division, which ran from Hawley to around Pittston, PA.

JP YOU DID IT!!! YOU ARE AMAZING! It was sooo odd, I came home earlier from bowling probably while you were editing & uploading this video... I went to bed, fell asleep with my headphones on, RUclips playing, only to wake up hearing you, panicky, breathing hard, beyond fearful, flat out scared. I could feel what you were going through, though I had no idea what was happening. I was trying to wake up enough to turn & actually watch you crossing that train trestle. Your anxiety was off the charts! Your fear was real! That takes an enormous amount of guts to put yourself out there like that. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU!! You really do make a difference. You don't even know that you... YOU helped me overcome some of my own fears. I truly mean that!

Hey! I know the Wandering Woodsman Cliff. I sub to his channel. I really enjoy these adventure videos. I'm actually glad that both of you have a healthy level of fear and aren't going about your adventures carelessly. With some videos I have to remind myself that if I'm watching the video it means the adventurer made it out safely. I had to do that more than a few times with Cliff's adventures!
Now, I noticed that quite a few of those ties were just hanging there with the support nails and braces gone and the side rails that were supposed to be keeping the structure from swaying were rotted out completely in spots. You two must be crazy to have chosen that bridge to test your fear of heights on. What you need is a good dose of FEAR OF FALLING to keep you off rotten bridges in the future! LOL!
Still, I thank you for filming. While you were looking down watching your footsteps, we got to look at a beautiful scene of treetops in the fall. The region is really amazing for its woodlands and topography. I think it's called drumlins... undulating hills and valleys and all the abandoned infrastructure. Cliff once found the foundations of an abandoned health resort village in the woods on one excursion. And to think, there's nothing left to suggest there was ever a sufficiently dense population to warrant a health spa village in the middle of nowhere. I think inflation has made us too afraid of taking financial risks that might not pan out with profits, so we'd never dare try. I guess settlers have a kind of courage that we can't fathom. Think about it, men had to build that bridge you two crossed!

My fear is heights is just one of my fears. . I do not like to go across a bridge in a car much less than walking over one, I would be crying before I even started and then stopped doing it and go to ground . So I am proud of you for trying this and I know you can do it, not much further now you can do it, Yes you should thank God for this But you did it, I am proud of you for doing it, Cliff is coming so wait for him. those tunnels or whatever could be a bears den since there are bears around as you saw when you first started this video SNAKES is what I am afraid of. It is a wonder you did not come across one out there. Beautiful scenery. thank you for taking us along, lean on God

I was a Drill Sargeant for seven years and I've worked as a life guard. I could teach you how to swim in no time. Starting with playing with a weighted rubber brick. You go in the shallow end where you can stand up, then go under the water to get the brick.
Then holding unto the side of the pool, just kick your legs, after getting used to that, then put your face in the water and blow out some bubbles then turn your face to one side, take in some air, put the face in the water, blow out some air and so forth.
You'd be swimming in no time. But first learn drown proofing. (With someone with you!) Where you jump into the water, you kick your legs, move your arms back and forth, then just take a deep breath and just relax, and just jeep doing that, kick the legs, move the arms, take a deep breath, just relax, slowly letting the air out and repeat. You'd be a pro in no time.
Go up and down lighthouses to help get over the frear of heights. It can really help.

I would be looking where I was going because as you were showing how far the walk on the trestle was, I kept having a small panic attack! You both did very well. Good job! And I can’t wait to see another addition to the video to see the other side and everything you found there! Great video, thanks!👏

I'm still playing catch up on your past videos, glad I finally got to this one. I am so proud of both of you! More importantly, you should be proud of yourselves! I was encouraging you all the way. Yes, keep facing your fears, you will succeed and conquer them. Please don't apologize for anything, I'm glad you concentrated on making it across instead of trying to interact with us. Great job, guys! Stay safe always, much love and God Bless.

I'm claustrophobic but have no problem with heights...going underground tho....i would be a mess. Definitely facing your fears is liberating tho.
