Thanks for this info. Tried it out today and found it did make the riding position a bit more aggressive, but the corners felt a bit easier. I’m 6 foot. Decided to switch it back though, as I prefer upright comfy positioning with my old bad back!
It moves the handlebar position forward. Depending on your preference you may want the position closer or further away. If I was 6’ tall I would most likely want them moved forward to no have as much of a bend at the elbow.
I'm 6.1 and turned the stems around it's night and day difference for me .before I felt like I was going to go of the back of the bike .my arms are more extended now wish I seen this before I ordered new bars
@@grimreaper8038 This bike has the ability to put clip ons and has a 3 position rear set for that exact purpose!! This is the main platform for the R9 coming out in a year or so. I am buying this and when the R9 comes out, I will put its fairings on it and lower the bars or add clip ons.
How on earth did you guys get the bolts for the stem (the two bolts underneath) loose? They are just completey stuck! And it's not the easiest bolts to access either. I tried with a relatively big torque wrench, set to 40 Nm / 30 lb-ft) and that is EASY. I must have tried to loosen these bolts with at least twice - if not more - force... But they won't budge. Did you guys remove the air intakes for more wiggle-room (the service manual says to do so)?
So what does it change, does it move the bars forward, back, down? I just bought the same bike and gotta say it's power is mental.. lol and even though l appreciate the high bars for commuting l feel I'm too upright when l open it up. Dunno l came from a bike with raised clip ons. Guess l want both worlds in one bike.
I don't know if you went any further with this, but I just want to lower the bars 1 inch - 1.2. Do you have any idea how I can do that? I cannot seem to find anything by now. Thanks
@@robertsimion7808 I have seen any after market kits that have lower risers. Due to the supply chain problem around the world, I’m finding it difficult to just get a windscreen or tidy tail.
I believe headlight and dash are on same cluster so your dash would most likely drop behind the handle bar risers and probably make things even more windy and will block some airflow to the radiator
I’m 5’9 and left it standard. Moving it moves it forward by a could of inches which benefit someone taller. I haven’t seen anything yet to lower the headlight.
Hi, those 6mm hex screws on the handlebar, are they reverse threaded? I'm trying to break those free and they won't budge. Is there some secret to those? I'm trying to avoid stripping the head at all costs!
@@wreckdiver thanks! Was it high effort for you as well, or did they come out reasonably easy? tried all 4 of those nuts, They aren’t budging with any reasonable forced
Hi Djamila. I doubt it. Yamaha changed 90% of the bike. This includes the brackets where the headlight assembly would bolt on to. But more importantly they changes the couplers to connect the wiring.
Turning the lower clamps through 180 degrees from stock will move the handlebar 9mm forward and 4mm higher
Lower and not higher as you mentioned
@@rspraveenkg No they are higher when you rotate the lower clamps

What difference does swapping the stems around make to the bar positions? Thanks

I just put a deep socket on the bolt and tapped my wrench with a rubber mallet until I broke the tension
Good video, what is the height of the Stem?? from bottom to center of handlebar???
Thank you very much, it helped me a lot .
So, which position you prefer and why?
I’m 5’9” and I like the original position.
Alright, now that we've made acquaintance with Lucinda Bolts....
There needs to be a video of someone actually doin it

Thanks for the vid. Do you know the difference between hands position, how much lean forward does this swap gives you? 🤔
Depends on your height.

Thanks from France, can you show the result of lower positioned handlebar pls ? And also the new position on the bike
Is this if you need to install risers or something? Move the bars up? Forward?
It moves the handlebars forward. Rider preference
@@wreckdiver nice thank you. Think there's enough slack in the cables and lines to throw some risers on?

Hi, do you think it's possible to lower the headlight a little (10cm or so ?) or would it require a lot of an hackjob ?

No issues. I actually replaced one of the bolt so that I could mount a ram mount ball
So i saw someone replacing the 2014 mt09 headlight with the 2019 version ... wonder if is it possible with this 21 vers!!?

Can you make a vid reviewing the bike?
Where di you get the torque values from?
The service manual for the 2021 MT09 SP.
@@wreckdiverDo you have a pdf or paper?
Paper. Even if it were PDF I’d be reluctant to share do to copyright infringements.

What was the point of this video ?
Moving the handle bars forward provides taller people to be comfortable on the bike. Being 5”9 it felt better in the original position
If you turn 180 degrees the rizers the punch holes should be in the opposite position right? then towards the saddle
I would think the same, did you ever confirm this?
I just checked the service manual and it says "The upper handlebar holders should be installed with the punch marks “b” facing forward.
"
