I saw the last Oilers vs Steelers game that would be played in the Astrodome that season. It’s probably because of my fan bias, but I think with a better Offensive scheme, or at least had they opened up the offense when the opponent stacked the box, this team could’ve had a better season. Ol coach Fisher was stubborn in his approach to clock control and found his team all too many times losing one score games.

Jeff was a buddy ryan and Mike ditka disciple. That means running game, defense and special teams. The passing game only had to be semi component and efficient. It's a shame. Steve mcnair and Eddie George could have been hall of famers

Can i say how underrated Chris Chandler and Ronnie Harmon were in their careers? They both were good players

Surprisingly no mention of the move. I don’t understand.

@@phillyfan-182 I figured it out since I posted this. When this was developed (Most likely February of 1997) the Houston Oilers were planning on playing one more season in Houston. However, after the immense drop off of fan support midway through the year- the NFL owners allowed them to leave to Nashville a year early. However, they ran into similar issues as Tennessee was not ready for an NFL frnachise in 1997 (preparing for 1998) and the Oilers struggled to garner fan support in 1997 as well.

@@jre-xf6uzYes. If you look at 1997 NFL trading cards, a number of them still have them as the Houston Oilers as the move had not been made at the time they were printed. The Raiders were in a similar situation 2 years earlier in 1995 as a number of trading cards still listed them as the LA Raiders and the move to Oakland had not been made yet.

The very last season before going to Peyton Manning's alma mater state, Tennessee.
