- Ship launching on slipway of the LHD "Trieste", the new unit of the Italian Navy.
Built in the Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy. This shipyard is the oldest in the mediterranean area that is still operating.
The world-famous Amerigo Vespucci, described as "the world's most beautiful ship", was also built here.

Last year on a school trip to Italy during March Break, we passed through Naples on our way to Sorrento and drove on the road that passed directly over the shipyard! Absolutely stunning to have seen such a ship in person even if it was from afar, god was I nerding out!

Sono nato è risiedo a Castellammare di Stabia, quando riguardo questi video mi rendono orgoglioso della mia città, non capisco perché altri italiani, invece di essere orgogliosi, scrivono commenti d'odio è addirittura un commento dove augurava l'esplosione della nave, causando quantità di morti enormi.😔
Sono una minoranza e guai se non ci fossero sennò saremmo tutti uguali. Per quanto mi riguarda sono pieno d'orgoglio anch'io come te. Siamo in tanti credimi.

Sono di Casola di napoli, vicino Castellammare, e vado a scuola a Piano di Sorrento (frequento il nautico) e ricordo che quel giorno la maggior parte dei professori e degli alunni (me compreso) non andarono a scuola per vedere il varo di questa nave.
Fu un emozione unica
E' stato un evento storico, avete fatto bene a vederlo dal vivo!
Quel giorno io e mio marito eravamo sul treno che porta a Sorrento. Abbiamo visto a Vico equense la gente che guardaba emozionata verso il mare . Complimenti italiani e saluti dalla Argentina

Veramente la nave è stata varata a Castellammare di Stabia. Da Vico Equense è impossibile vedere il porto di Castellammare di Stabia.
@@ventolbero99 Vero, non avranno visto il varo. Probabilmente il mare che hanno visto con emozione sarà stato dal ponte di Seiano, non da meno per la nostra terra.

Per vedere gente che guardava verso il mare con l'emozione di assistere al varo, doveva per forza essere da Castellammare, non certo da Vico Equense o anche da Seiano.
@@ventolbero99 Noi eravamo seduti al lato sinistro della circunvesuviana, di modo che non si vedeva il mare ma i palazzi di fronte alla marina , forse a Vico o pure a Seiano. La gente affaciata sui balconi guardava verso il mare del tutto emozionata. Ecco il fato che abbiamo visto mio marito ed io. Dopo ci siamo resi conti che c'era un perche' . Saluti dall ' Argentina ;)
Excellent launch.Holidayed at Castellamaria di Stabia and sailed round the Amalfi Coast from there.A very underrated town I would recommend it to anyone.Best Wishes to Italy from the UK.

@@anderstopansson Se vedi verso 0:23 si nota che hanno aggiunto dei cassoni di galleggiamento, per evitare che la prua potesse eventualmente strisciare sul fondo dello scalo durante il varo.
Ecco perchè è più alta a prua che a poppa.

Guarda che la costruzione di una nave del genere è esattamente un investimento per la creazione di industrie e lavoro e non solo per la costruzione, ma anche per la manutenzione e l'aggiornamento di un'unità del genere. Senza contare l'enorme indotto che genera un cantiere navale.
Tu dirai "Eh ma sono soldi che paga lo stato", certo ma la costruzione di una nave del genere è anche una grossa pubblicità per la Fincantieri che riceve commesse da altre nazioni e enti privati proprio perchè dimostrano di saper costruire navi del genere:
Ed ancora, navi di questo genere non sono usate solo come navi da guerra, ma vengono usate anche per trasportare aiuti umanitari in aree colpite da disastri ambientali e questa nave è anche attrezzata per poter essere usata come un ospedale mobile.

Im guessing similar to the QE class they've 2 engines & 2 seperate exhausts. The twin upper towers help shroud the exhausts & enhance survivability.

@@gregs7562 If i remember correctly (it's been a couple of years now ;D ) it has a CODLOG propulsion system (Combined Diesel eLectric Or Gas) wich means it has 4 engines (2 MAN diesel, 2 Rolls Royce gas turbines) and 2 electric motors that are all interconnected.

I think it will carry 5/6 F35B when Cavour will not be available (carrying from 8 to 20+ F35B). In case of war the Cavour will carry his maximum of aircraft and Trieste the air force F35B, so 30 aircraft in total.

It is a multi-purpose ship mainly aimed at defence and humanitarian missions. It has a flight deck and an amphibian launch deck. It will also have a fully equipped hospital for treating up to 28+ patients.
She will probably, in due time, replace the carrier Garibaldi.

Multirole aircraft carrier, will host 24 x F-35B plus 4 Seaking helis, it also has a floodable bay to launch VTLC-130 landing vessels and other classified submersibles (from Comsubin the Italian highly secretive Tier 1 naval Special Forces). It also hosts a full hospital that can treat up to 20 patients in bad conditions. It is engineered for today’s small scaled conflicts in which special operations and CAS airforce missions are key.

3 multi-purpose cannons Otobreda 76/62 (two stern, one aft) type Super Rapido MF Davide, with guided ammunition and ready for the new ammo type Vulcano;
3 remote controlled machine guns type OTO Melara 25/80 equipped with a cannon type Oerlikon KBA 25 mm (25x137mm);
2 rocket launchers OTO Melara ODLS-20 for aerial and underwater decoys.

In the US this size ship is classified as an Assault Carrier and not an Aircraft Carrier. Even though it is far smaller than a Aircraft Carrier it is nice to know that US Allies are actually strengthening their military instead of expecting the US to protect them forever. After all the NATO Treaty demands equal ability and defense spending among Allies for mutual protection. That is something US Allies have failed at since NATO was formed. The US Military has acted as the entire functional NATO military force since NATO's creation!
