I'm planning to head up to Castlepoint and Riversdale from Lower Hutt over the holidays! Really nice video! I like how you add in some drone footage to an adventure motorcycling video; nice job! :)
Great video. I really like seeing the speedo by the way, as without it, it always seems much faster on the gravel roads than it actually is, and I don't feel so bad about keeping my own gravel speeds low (30-40k) in the right places too. I wouldn't put the camera up higher either, as I wouldn't feel like I'm riding the bike myself when watching. I see some vids overseas where they blur the speedo as maybe they get prosecuted, but you are rarely and barely over a sensible 100k so maybe no issue.
I'm definitely not one of the motocross riders who can rip around a corner at high speed. I wouldn't mind learning how to corner better, but my main priority is to stay safe and enjoy the scenery.
I haven't done much with the suspension yet. I don't put much demand on the suspension - other than asking it carry my immense weight. I still spend 90% of the time on sealed roads and I don't do any really gnarly roads.
I have a Shinko E705 on the front and a Pirrelli Scorpion Rally STR on the rear. There's no real thought behind that tyre choice. It's mainly what was available and within my budget when I needed a change.
I would have thought twice about going through there ff the gate was closed. There was the sign on the gate saying "Rahui Coastal Loop" which seems to indicate it's accepted as public access.
No. It joins on to Pakowai Tinui Road. You can travel through there without any problems. It's part of the "Rahui Coastal Loop" which is all open to the public.
Thank you for the videos. I enjoy the ride. My health doesn't allow me to travel these days, this is the only way I can see NZ. Might pay to lift your camera a wee bit. You incriminate yourself with your speed.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've set the camera angle as high as it would possibly go. I've even filed the mount down to try to get a little more angle. If I file it any more it'll probably break. I will have to be more attentive when editing the video to ensure there are no incriminating clips.
That was awesome bro....thank u. Use to ride those roads on my dirt bike years ago n castlepoint. Ride a harley now so I felt that ride🫶🙏💪❤️
I'm sure you could manage those roads on the Harley. Some bits would be ... interesting.
Gorgeous day for a ride, and it’s one place I have been climbed Castlepoint, drove via Masterton back to Wellington 😊
Castlepoint is a good day out. Nice beach. Iconic lighthouse. But I still haven't found a castle. ;)

Thanks. I think the drone footage helps to break it up. It gets a bit boring when the whole video is taken from the same perspective.
This is a beautiful drive, have done this many times. would explore the gravel roads. Lovely video
Thank you
Another inspirational video... you're my go to channel for riding New Zealand back roads... many thanks for your excellent content.
Thanks for that. It's been tough trying to find a new ride every weekend. I hope I win Lotto soon so I can afford to keep doing these rides.
Excellent discovery. You keep getting better. Well done BV.
I had assumed that it was a dead end road along the coast there. It was nice to see there was a nice little loop there.
Great video! Loved the soundtrack.
Thanks very much
Great ride!
It was a good afternoon.
Another very good video, the camera is fine where it is.
Yep. But it's nice to know that someone is keeping me honest with my speeds.

Mate have u tried playing round with the suspension set ups on gravel. I'll have to give mine a crack

Awesome...good weather, what tyres do you use.

@@theNZbv Thanks
EXLNT Mr BV looks Like to got Cracka Weather for that Road Trip Well Done
It was stinking hot. Not ideal weather for heavy motorbike gear.
I think the top bit of packspur is actually a paper road
I would have thought twice about going through there ff the gate was closed. There was the sign on the gate saying "Rahui Coastal Loop" which seems to indicate it's accepted as public access.
@theNZbv many people go through there
@@theNZbv i wasnt critizing i was just saying
No probs. I didn't take it as a criticism at all.
