- This song might be my favorite on the entire album. The flute, drums, and vocals all meld perfectly. "In the Spirit of Crazy Horse, Songs for Leonard Peltier", is a compilation album by Native American artists to benefit Leonard Peltier. Album Cover artwork is by Mr. Peltier. You can still find this album in small shops and specialty stores even though many of the large internet stores say it is unavailable.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE ROBERT REDFORD'S DOCUMENTARY, "Incident at Oglala" you may see it in it's 90 minute entirety at the link I have placed below. This site is the official site of Mr. Peltier's attorneys, There are other sites of interest also.
Beautiful voice beautiful woman rest in peace
dear barbara,
your comment makes me smile. It was the only song on the album that I played a "musical" part in. Joanne sent me a demo and asked for suggestions. I asked for heartbeat drumming and spaced-out guitar and was amazed that she took my suggestions to heart. Strong song.

Beautiful story/voice 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kia kaha, Leonard. Calls for your freedom are being echoed around the world. You are a spiritual leader of your people and the Nelson Mandela of North American First Nations. Peace and love, brother.
Spirit flies free....
Lilililili!!! Lilili! Lilili!!!!
@stefanwhite100 I am honored to have you visit and comment. I am trying to raise awareness for Mr. Peltier. I LOVE this song. You did well with your input to Ms. Shenandoah. It is an incredible song with beauty and power....and strength. Thank you for visiting and commenting. (I love your story!) My best, Barbara
I must be getting old. Repeating myself 4 years later... oh, well...
+Stefan White I'm smiling to much right now. I can repeat myself from last week! It is good to see you again. I'm in a Community that supports Leonard Peltier and calls, writes, tweets, and emails for his release. I went back to your comment to see you wanted a heartbeat type drum & "spaced out' guitar. You both worked well together! Good to see you again, Barbara

Barbara, you bring a smile to my face. When Joanne was in the process of donating this song to the compilation she sent me an early cut and asked if I had any suggestions for "improving" it. I suggested the "spaced-out electric guitar" and wailing harmonica while simultaneously emphasising the drum beat. It was already a great song before I put my two bits in and I feel very honored that Joanne took my suggestions seriously and implemented them. It is certainly a highlight of the album and a confirmation that Leonard was simply defending his people from the white aggressors such as the two agents sacrificed by the FBI on the day an eighth of the Pine Ridge Reservation was expropriated from its native inhabitants. For a balanced account of the situation at the time and today I recommend this link: www.theendofbeing.com/2015/06/26blood-in-the-hills-leonard-peltier-and-the-pine-ridge-reservation-shootout-40-years-later/
+Stefan White thank you for this link. I will go there in a short time. I just had to find Incident at Oglala to post in a Community I am in. The old link is "dead" & I feel that needs to be available for all to see. Many are much younger than me & it happened after they were born. Thanks for your link. Wela'lin, Dove Woman p.s.
