Just confirms that dogs are far better than people for company.
Tell me about it.
Yep they do that .
I've never been a people person, I much prefer the company of dogs. Dogs, I can understand. We can sit together beside the fire in perfect peace. I've learned a lot from dogs.
@@zxyatiywariii8 I've had a different experience with dogs. Not an entirely positive one. Dogs are like people in a sense; they are often inconsiderate. Dog lovers just like that they look cute and can't talk back. I like being able to spend time away from people and their pets.

When dealing with people, set your expectations low.
You will be less disappointed
Better yet, have no expectations at all.
But they will call you “snobby” ? Sometimes... or a lot of the time
lol
Agreed. I noticed we tend to let ourselves down alot because we set a high expectation of others before we come across them. When they are not of the image we made them out to be prior to meeting them, we have ourselves to blame.
Much like how I lowball my paychecks, I lowball my potential experience with people. It usually works when I do meet someone pleasant or worth being around.
I humbly disagree. In my opinion (and in my experience) it is best to have no expectations at all, not only when dealing with people, but when dealing with anything at all.
Allow yourself to be empty in any new experience, so you can be filled by whatever you encounter without prior judgement.
Why have any expectations?
I highly recommend periods of alone time! It strengthens self-reflection and builds character. The majority of my time I'm alone - with the exception of my husband and daughter. Most people here in Germany just don't share my mentality, so I'd rather spend my time alone than in company that irritates me. Never felt lonely. Books will teach you more than fools.

True. You should not waste your time with toxic people. But always try to be kind. Talking little and only saying what is important or necessary to say is the key.

The good science has done in our modern age is on par with a physician setting a broken leg and giving us an infection that will end up killing us. It's said that man only has up to 50 years before they've all but killed themselves off. Then you have the gall to call everyone else ignorant?! Get f**ked you arrogantly sanctimonious bastard.
I have always preferred my own company.
I've said it once before, but will again:
I really wish I had had a dad like you, Bjorn. Down to earth, smart, good advice, teaching life skills that matter, and most importantly, a desire to teach... all the things needed to make a successful adult from a child.
I had a step-dad for 12 of my first 13 years, but he paid only minimal attention to me, and for very short periods of time when he did. Toss the football with me? Sure, for about 5-10 minutes, max, never more than once in a summer.
I also have 2 older brothers, but they are 9 and 10 years older, so they were never around from the age of 15 on. They were with their friends. So, for all intents and purposes, I grew up an only child from the age of 5, spending innumerable hours alone with only my imagination, and no male influence. My oldest brother tried to play the dad's role, but only when he thought it was time to discipline me. The middle brother barely ever even noticed me.
Having to figure life out by yourself as you go along was a shitty way for a young man to grow into the world. I failed at nearly everything I did. I felt defeated easily after failing, since I was never taught HOW to be a man, HOW to react as a man should, or how to tame the horse of life to my whims -- as much as that is possible, anyway. I'm lucky I didn't end up in prison or a grave. Most males in a similar position have a tendency toward those two places.
Just wanted to say that I'm envious of your kid(s). They are lucky to have a father such as you. And clearly yours had a good head on his shoulders as well when teaching you as a young one. We're not all so lucky out here, so cherish that. And be sure to pass it on so that future generations will be as strong and confident as they can be.
I wish you well on your journey here and onwards. Dont run away from your path of solitude. Namaste

@Ellie Green -- becoming a parent is no longer feasible as next summer will be my 50th. I used to want to be a father very much. Since I knew what NOT to do, I felt as though I might be a good one.
As far as finding a woman to share my final years with, that, too, is about as likely as the sun rising in the north. I spent many years trying to find her after losing "the one that got away," with all attempts being unsuccessful. Then came health issues that created mental issues, both of which making me feel I'd be more of a burden than a partner. I won't inflict myself on any of the few women willing to deal with such a relationship.
Nowadays I've become so afraid of loss that I'd rather just isolate myself and avoid the feeling of losing someone very important to me again. I won't even get another dog solely because of how badly it hurt to lose my little fat buddy 6½ years ago -- just 5 months after losing my mother.
You are right when you say life is hard for everyone. It's easier for some than for others, but most of us are in the same boat. And I also realize there are plenty that have it worse than I do, which makes me feel like I shouldn't complain; but at the same time, I also sometimes feel that if I don't vent some of the pressure, my head may pop like a balloon.
I prefer to be alone. I have always felt the most clear headed and centered when alone.

I cherish my time alone. I am my best self in solitude. This is a tremendous advantage, because you no longer NEED human interaction - it allows you to pick and choose the good people, the diamonds in the rough. Love your videos sir, we are very much alike 💪❤
Agree 100%. Although I'm not "young" - love being alone and never feel lonely.
Bjorn, you are a lovely man, and I say that as a women who wishes for her son to be a decent msn too. I tell him that in life you have different categories of friends. There are friends who you can socialise with, laugh, drink, be a bit crazy, then the real 2 or 3 friends are those you may not see for months at a time, or even a few years, but when you meet again the months or years evaporate and you pick up where you left off. Thankfully he has 2 such friends. I listen to your perpectives which both confirm the values that my late father lived by and you have insights, wisdom and observationd that are relevant 21st century. Thank you. All good wishes to you and yours.
Just curious, but if you don't see them in months, years, doesn't i mean you don't really care about each other?
Like if you enjoy a friends company and time, support and feedback, you would miss them and seek out experiences together right?
I think alot of people just want to be oportunistic and selective because they have narcisitic tendicies due to self deluded ideas about them beeing so great.
I have experienced people like that trying to get back to me, but I always look at the story, and if it says this person cut me off or just never had time and something like that, never compromised much, then I owe nothing and reject the person.
Unless there is a spirit of genuine respect and interest in the wel beeing of each other, it's not worth much
Common sense is not so common anymore these days.
-Voltaire
Common sense is the least common of all the senses.
I don't mind being alone, I just don't what to be lonely.
@Dianne Higo same here, there is a lot of strength to gain from this
Then don't. Learn to enjoy being by yourself. Build confidence through hobbies, work and improving qualities you don't like about yourself(not what other people don't like). It sounds like I'm insane, and maybe I am, but I literally joke with myself about things going on in my life. Make fun of yourself, make yourself smile.
@Dianne Higo Jesus is a character from some fake desert religion... search your ancestors religion and heritage to get in touch with yourself ..

this is a video about why being introverted has its benefits.
I'm not really into commenting, but this really touched me to some extent. Just wanna let you know, that I, myself, was completely introverted. However, being alone, I grew such confidence, such freedom that after many years now I feel like I'm just having fun in life. Going around, doing chores, working, whatever it is, always taking it light. Most times people are thinking I'm somewhat of born extrovert. But here's the catch, at least in my own experience. There's no such thing as being introverted or extroverted by definition. It's about your perspective and attitude. I mean you can always say, well people suck, I don't want to be around them. Or you can do the other thing, take it as a game, imagine them being NPC or whatever makes you feel comfy; but my point is - you decide what you wanna be.
chbts what does NPC mean
@@jozzz222 lol, non playable/player characters,
@@jozzz222 Just like the guy said, I took this quite literally from the game, cause I see it this way. I mean, imagine yourself being the main character of the game (even though it sounds selfish). Non-playable character means you have no control over that human being, allowing yourself to actually mind nothing else but your own business. Somewhat realizing this concept made me so much more confident taking decisions and actions. Sometimes I'm even shocked how much it comes with that attitude. You simply have fun and just enjoy living, simple as it is! I hope yall having a wonderful time, and happy holidays guys!
Also sorry for not responding earlier, didn't really see the message. That's what happens I guess when you involve yourself "too much" with being right here and right, just having fun.
"In solitude & silence I find my true self." D. Chopra. A little mantra which is close to my heart. 🌺🙏
As an artist, I need that solitude. My inner voice is very shy, so without the silence, it doesn’t speak to me.
The ending to this video was just the best. “Some people” sums it up.
Hell is other People But YOU'RE the other People
I saw it quite the opposite way. Liked the video, but thought that comment was rather judgemental, defeatist, maybe even hypocritical. He tells about something that does not happen every day, gets a normal amount of doubt in return (maybe not even doubt, more like a "holy crap, that really happened?") and hits the guy with an answer, showing a lack of social competence AND a lack of patience. To top it all off, a pessimistic, box-like-thinking "Some people" to end the video.
Sorry brother, the message of the video was great, but - in my opinion - a poor way to end it.
Agree totally. There is no need to get involved when in most cases those people will utterly disappoint you anyway.
Yes, I find myself doing less and less "disappointment" as I get older, and wiser.
Married with family that I adore but my rare times alone are like gold to me.
Bjorn, we have never met. but I consider you a good friend. Like minded my brother.
you have become a father figure to many; that is a great accomplishment.
I just don’t enjoy the company of most people.. I prefer solitude as much as possible. I feel alive and free when I’m alone and can do whatever I want with that time
This is very true, the OLDER i get the more Selective i GET with what Friends i choose.
I believe this... I am 42 years old and spent most of it alone. And it has made me stronger...
Love being alone because I get more creative making things from scratch , like arts and crafts and just working on several projects. Though ,I, like people and children, I.CHERISH MY SOLITUDE and sometimes people get in my way and distrack me. People for me are when I really want to be with them and concentrate on the company. I have lots of people who want to visit all the time and I like them ,but in short segments. Yes. You said exactly what I makes me happy, solitude. Listen to music, write or just meditate! Thank you Bjorn.
I have chosen to be alone for the past 20 years and, I am extremely happy being alone. My family doesn’t understand this.
I would rather be alone and happy than be around people and be miserable.
I agree. People have a habit of disappointing you.
Lucky.
Alone is when you build your own skill set up to be independent and self-reliant, while it’s OK to have a support circle you should never be dependent on other people for your own survival
You will never be 100% self sufficient just more self sufficient than others
Brett Pulley This is a good point you have here. I used to have that problem myself. I tried to be there more for others so intensely that I eventually realized I was neglecting my own wants and peace. While you are right, I find many people to have the opposite problem. They spend so much time around others, they can't even interpret what thoughts originated from their own consciousness vs thoughts from those around them. The more alone time you spend, the better you can understand yourself and thus be better for those around you. It's all balance (which is much harder to keep than say of course)
Actually leveraging other people is how humanity made it this far lol. Society is interdependent. The reason we don’t like being alone in the first place is a survival mechanism. The negative feelings of it, drives us to reach out to others to ensure our survival 😂.but it’s still wise to strive for self reliance.
Hi Bjorn, I haven't commented in a while. I must have solitude. My 2 dogs and 1 cat are the best friendships there is.. I can trust them, and I enjoy their loving, honest nature. Very nice video today, thank you. 🦉
I'd like a dog but I don't think I could devote the time to one.
I envy you. Most apartments in LA dont allow pets (even if it's a big place), and cat company is the only one I want now, being the one animal I'm most familiar owning.
Just this fact alone reminds me that living in a city is nothing short of depressing and lonely. Can't wait until I move out in a few years. No more cities. Ever.
so what you're saying is that home alone was a good movie
ahahahha nice
I literally just finished the Home Alone films from Disney+ and now I'm here cus it's my first day alone in a while...I'm 23 lol
SET I just watched the first one today! 😂🤘🏽
LMFAO🤣😂
well in the end Kevin had company, the wet guys, you know...so he wasn't truly alone
"you're trying to straighten out a wiggly world, and no wonder you're in trouble" - Alan Watts
I'm a introvert and I feel most alive when I am by myself .
Having a dog along can be a very nice asset when alone.
Thats because dogs dont talk
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.”

Timeless wisdom.
I used to tell people that if you're afraid of spending time alone, you aren't a fan of yourself. And ultimately, you are the only person who you have to deal with at the end of the day, so it would make sense to start.
Also, being alone is indeed a strength. It gives you time to work on yourself, and having too many friends robs you of that.
21 and I have very few friends, but it's all about quality, not quantity. Thanks for posting this! I recently found you and I'm enjoying your videos!
I’m 19 and this video really helped. I left my group of friends behind over a year ago as we were all spiralling into violence and drugs. I’ve self improved hitting the gym and have more self confidence now then ever before feeling grounded.
If there’s any younger guys reading my comment in the same situation with bad friends, don’t be anchored down and spend some time to self improve you’ll find new better people on they way.
Bjorn, while growing up and camping outdoors in the Arizona mountains, we expressed a saying about the campfire: "Smoke follows beauty!"
That's what the adults used to tell me when their cigarette smoke followed me around the kitchen table! Lol! But Bjorn is better looking than I am !
It always amazes me how wise Bjorn is.
I lived a life of a hermit until me Da's passing. After he passed away I had return and live in city, there were no orchards and woods where I'd go at four in the morn and see mules and lie down in the meads without having to worry about anything, I loved being alone, reading and writing was pure decadence. Now that I live in city I see people with no integrity, everything about it seems so made-up, whether they are people of my age or men who run after money incessantly. Here surroundings which they consider leafy are so withered to my eyes because I've been in the buffer zones. After trying friendship for some time I've realised people lack manners and only care to use ye and argue with their vague erudition, I fell into a bad company without realising until I had an argument where to a guy I said bodybuilding is all about asthetics and physically it doesn't prove anything, a bear would rend ye no matter how much ye build muscles, he then said all is about will power and I agreed to that but still inserting a universal fact where I am merely trying to tell bodybuilding is only for asthetics was hard for him to accept, he then admonished me to get a haircut and I said I didn't tell anyone to not go to gym, that's there choice and similarly I keep me hair long for my choice. He then said that I don't wish to talk whilst he seemed downright peeved, he said nobody encounters nature and I said maybe those don't get out of their comfort zones don't because I've spent all me life in forests. I don't understand these people, I miss those days I'll soon be gone to whence I came. I can't tolerate the city life and its lies. Also he said if ye had a degree from a college ye would talk some sense, I chose not to join any university, which made me laugh inside.
You're not alone, you have the whole Nature with you.
"And there is no one to TRUST"!!
I agree totally. I am much more comfortable on my own than in the presence of lots of people. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
So true, esspecially the point about being "immune" against toxic people if you can face being alone and enjoying your own company!
