Im from the UK, my mum is black from Barbados and my dad is white English. They have been married for 46 years, I'm 43 and my brother is 42 at the end of this year. They both met in barbados as my dad was an electrician on boats that sailed all over the world and happened to meet our mum and brought her back to the UK. My parents faced racismn from his family so they weren't in our lives. We grew up with our mothers side of the family and dad. They go back to where they met years ago every few years. Dad's 70 soon and mum is already 65. I’m a 57 yr old black woman and I never thought I would see such hate, disdain, and disrespect from black men towards black women like we are witnessing in this day and time. How foolish it is to believe that black women would not start dating/marrying out. In fact, ALL three of my daughters are married to white men (my youngest just got married 6 months ago). My husband and I both encouraged them to seek men based on their “heart/character” and NOT bc they share the same complexion. That alone removed a large portion of black men from even being an option for them. That doesn’t mean that all black men are colorist (self haters), disrespectful, arrogant, etc., but a vast majority of this younger generation are, and no one has the time to seek out the very few who would be a viable candidate. I am a white (Italian) American and have been happily married to a mixed-race Puerto Rican woman who is part black for 47 years. We are both sick and tired of all the interracial couples in TV commercials today. They are usually black men with white women (the most common examples) or white men with East Asian women. Hispanics are almost completely left out. There was intermarriage between whites and blacks and Native Americans in Latin America long before it began in North America or Europe. The class groups that marry can span classes but mostly lower class women that are low value in her community. The second set tend to be middle and upper class relationships that have gotten together for compatibility reasons and are the same class. Also, there is more traditional values in the man of the second set that causes him to gain more respect and submission from a woman. The first mentioned often despises the responsibility of manhood and compares himself to women rather than men and more often embraces a female sole provider which causes women to contempt and disrespect them.

Im from the UK, my mum is black from Barbados and my dad is white English. They have been married for 46 years, I'm 43 and my brother is 42 at the end of this year.
They both met in barbados as my dad was an electrician on boats that sailed all over the world and happened to meet our mum and brought her back to the UK. My parents faced racismn from his family so they weren't in our lives. We grew up with our mothers side of the family and dad. They go back to where they met years ago every few years. Dad's 70 soon and mum is already 65. I love my parents very much and now we have kids of our own, I have a son and daughter with my hubby(who happens to be white-French) and my brother has a daughter with his wife who happens to be white- italian.
My aunt also married a white englishman they've been together for 60 years! London is a melting pot so we never felt left out, and having mixed cousins also helped.

I’m a 57 yr old black woman and I never thought I would see such hate, disdain, and disrespect from black men towards black women like we are witnessing in this day and time.
How foolish it is to believe that black women would not start dating/marrying out. In fact, ALL three of my daughters are married to white men (my youngest just got married 6 months ago). My husband and I both encouraged them to seek men based on their “heart/character” and NOT bc they share the same complexion. That alone removed a large portion of black men from even being an option for them. That doesn’t mean that all black men are colorist (self haters), disrespectful, arrogant, etc., but a vast majority of this younger generation are, and no one has the time to seek out the very few who would be a viable candidate.
My message to young black women is to never settle for a man bc he shares your same skin complexion. Respectful, honorable, God fearing, family oriented men come in a variety of complexions.
If you’re placing black men as a priority you are already at a disadvantage bc only 6% of men in America are black and you have to also take into consideration how many of those are homosexuals/bisexual, in prison, who want to be with non-black women AND those who are not even interested in marriage.
In this day and age, it is unwise/foolish for black women to limit their options to black men when there are literally millions more of non black men to choose from.
I have not seen one black man in my master degree only african men. I am a black woman with 4 college degrees and never been with a black man with a degree.

As a Software Engineering Manager working for the richest company in the world (Apple), I rarely see Black Engineers. I’m surrounded by White and majority Asian men, who constantly try to talk to men casually. They couldn’t be happier and theyre some of the happiest couples I’ve ever seen. Aw, this warms my heart. I'm going on 19 years with my Italian husband (yeah, true paesano, from the old country). I have 2 other bw friends married to American white men, and I'm not saying that we're all perfect, but we're some of the chillest, coziest, healthiest, drama free couples I know. We are both sick and tired of all the interracial couples in TV commercials today. They are usually black men with white women (the most common examples) or white men with East Asian women. Hispanics are almost completely left out. There was intermarriage between whites and blacks and Native Americans in Latin America long before it began in North America or Europe. At least Spanish men married the women instead of making them mistresses like the British, French, and North Americans did.

I admit that I’ve gotten more disapproving looks from BM and WW when with my husband who also happens to be white. I used to be bothered by it 9 years ago but I couldn’t care less now.
