Perhaps it was cleared from a deceased estate? or perhaps the engine is toast? Because the shell and interior is so clean, it would still be worth investing in as mechanicals you can always fix up. The CLK really is in great shape for the age! BTW it's a C208 Chassis which is based on the C Class of the time (W202), the successor C209 was also based on the C Class (W203).
Had a 69 Cougar in high school with 351. Vacuum operated headlights were finicky. It was a good reliable car. Sold it in Wisconsin in 1980, they couldn't believe it had original exhaust and no rust. It was a Colorado car. First person to look bought it.

I drove a 67 Cougar in 87 wasn't in the best of shape but was pretty fast really would love to get one again in decent shape the 289 engine is pretty solid couldn't tell if that was a 289 or 351

Hello Mike aka Monkey Wrench Mike. The 2018 Mercedes E400 is a good looking car even though it's got front end damage on the passenger side. The 1999 Mercedes CLK 320 is a good looking car.
Everything on the CLK320 is perfect except the wheels don't look quite right. Maybe it's the polished chrome? I don't remember this design on them unless this was a base model. 5 spoke look a lot better than these sink drain design. It's still a good buy if you can score it of the right money.

l bought a 69 Cougar when I came back from Vietnam in 1970. It was white with a black vinyl roof. It was a great except for the door windows. The tabs that bolted to the regulators where glued on and the glue would fail. I forget how many windows I went through on that car. I live in Georgia and was stationed in Charleston SC and I made many late night high speed trips home in mine. The chassis and drive train where the same as the 69 Mustang so that made it really easy to find parts. I have wished many times I still had that car because you don't see many of them around.
There is nothing on the road like a 69 Cougar, I had one back in 1980 and in 1981 I traded it in for a 66 Fairlane 500 xl and now I wish I had both of them but I do have a 65 Mustang Coupe that I will keep until I die!!!!
CLK320 looks like a doctor trade-in. that one could be your best bet.
