@@AR-ql4tj damn, you're right. she also went through hell because she associated with kiritsugu
Kiritsugu arc was definetely the highlight of this anime for me, by far. Really well told and touching story.
Really? Because I thought he was given way too much screen time as compared to the other masters. It was entertaining, but then the same should have been done for the others
Incog Nito
I disagree, Kiritsugu is the protagonist, so it's only natural for him to get the most screen time. All of the other Masters and Servants were developed sufficiently well (except perhaps Assassin), with the majority of their backstories being explained.
Unlike FSN UBW (2014), which failed to bring the backstories and Servants and Masters to the forefront until their time of death, I felt Fate/Zero did a really great job. (I still love UBW though tbh.)
That moment when he shot down the plane and this song starts playing...for me it was saving grace for this anime.
Jason Parker That is because ufo really only following the VN, in UBW route the most highlighted masters are only Kuzuki, and Medea too since she's the master of false assasin (+ Shirou and Rin).
Salsabila Ramadhani Is that so? Even then, I thought that Caster's actual mythical backstory wasn't explained well enough to highlight the true tragedy behind what happened to her.
I still feel that they should've expanded on the other Servants backstories earlier than their time of death however.
"A battlefield is Hell itself. There's no hope to be had on one. There is nothing but unspeakable despair. Just a souless crime we call victory, paid for by the pain of the defeated. But humanity has never recognized this truth. And the reason is that, in every era, a dazzling hero has blinded the people with their legends, and kept them from seeing the evil of bloodshed they bring. True human nature has not advanced a step beyond the Stone Age."
- Kiritsugu Emiya
"Don't you understand Kiritsugu? Evil will always give birth to new conflict, even if it is undertaken out of hatred for a greater evil. I don't know what suffering in your past has lead you down this path Emiya Kiritsugu, but your rage and sorrow are found only in those who believed in true justice. Once, you yourself must have sought to to become a hero. You believed in that more than anything. Am I wrong?"
- Saber
The timing that Ufotable used with this song was always perfect.
@K.O.G.Fanstarks1610 yeah this is regrettable. They should also use this song after fuyuki burned

Fate Zero touches the subject of the human soul so deeply in many possible ways from its extreme vulnerability to its strength and I love it when animes touch on those transcendent themes of our human mortality as well as our soul's immortality.

Honestly, it is amazing how they made such a song that captured futility and somehow captures hope at the same time.
The kiritsugu arc for me was the most interesting part of ''Fate zero'' It had a different vibe than the rest of the anime, and had a fascinating story compared to the rest of the anime.

He basically had the grail and instead stopping the bloodshed forever or producing an infinite amount of resourses, desided to us it to kill 50% of everyone for aalmost no reason
Kiritsugu wants a world where everyone can smile and happy not wiping 50% of population.
Everyone seem's to get Kiritsugu and his final action completly wrong, he noticed the grail wont give anything good cause it was already tainted so heavily and only thing he could do at the last moment was to stop it and it was an Kirei's wish the whole disaster at the end. Kiritsugu strongly believes those who harms others are villains
but he was wrong, his wrongful thoughts has lead to a greater lost of family and loved one
Please respect Kiritsugu, he lacks love and care
I feel bad for him and all his beloved one
No, what Kiritsugu was wrong in was believing that there was any reality or wish-granting machine that could actually create an outcome that would save everyone. And with his own means, he decided that killing a few to save more was the right thing to do.
What he glossed over was that, at its core, humanity thrives and seeks out conflict so that as as long as the thing known as "humanity" exists, there will always be conflict. So his ideology of killing the few to save the many- in the end- will naturally produce a higher body count than those he had saved as the logical extreme and end of his methods.
That's the point of Fate/Zero-- killing people to save the world is a garbage thing to do and he is punished for trying to be a shounen hero.

Kiritsugu was an asshole with saber for no motivation.
And he is wrong in his philosphy.
@Shimohira Reika Both are one of the most well written character i seen for a while. Both are fantastic character and have a huge significance. And for this people should know about what is humanity and how it works. They should understand the shared nature between humans. Their love, Their tendency to care each other, compassion, emotions, their tendency to create mutual bonds, learn from their mistakes, accept their sins and use these all these things collectively for the benefits of others. Shirou love human. This is his ‘true self’ i.e he understands in the end of ubw and throw his ‘fake self’ which only try to save for his own pleasure. He already gained the answer that he can't save everyone. But now he know that it is never possible. But humans can change it. He want to create this world by influencing through his action. He influence others to become like him who thinks about other's benefit more than his own. And lead people to a ordered world which is filled with swords like him and that can possibly lead a utopia. He act as a pinnacle of the human beings selflessness to influence other to become like him and they can collectively influence world and their people to have mire faith in selfless act and other well being. They think about themselves as well as others benefits without prejudice and create a order which try to satisfy everyone but also teach society the fear of what is right and wrong in different situations. (Well this ordered world theory is given by archer but Shirou combine this dream with his own to create a better ideal. He learn from Archer). He will take every type of suffering and throw evrything for it to inspire other about this suffering. so people would also understand the suffering of others and started to create 'Heroes'. The thing is he considered living like this is beautiful. He considered enduring the suffering of others is very beautiful. In short he want to turn himself into a person who take every pain and suffering from others onto him and not giving those pain to others, to inspire others to be like him and lead a better world. he loves human so much that he loves taking pain, suffering and consequences of every hypocisies of every selfish human dreams from others to make them happy and to show human a better path for living as a 'real' human and also show that what human can do. He also accept hatred and sins of humanity and show the beauty of these ugliness and show how to use it improve humans as whole and use it to spread love and compassion towards each other even more. Shirou is a void who has not any values and sense of justice. He interpreted his existence is possible because of humans and for humans. That's why he take the decision to hold his own sense of selflessness and dream to guide others human's and their individuals ideals to interpret other's ideals as well to understand humanity as whole better. He have not any ideals but he want to guide every human's ideals in right path by understanding every ideals and even the hate and love both towards his own ideals to convert his ideal into more better one.
On the other hand, Kiritsugu's ideal is not bad but it is definitely flawed. He wants to destroy others to save many. But it only leads destruction. It creates prejudice and despair between people and lead even a bigger problem which cannot be solved by some individual. He loves human but not for their selflessness. He loved humans as they go over their limits without end. That is why he turned himself into the definite evil. But his efforts only lead destruction. Because his method only teach humans to hate opposite to what Shirou think what human truly are? In the end, it destroy everything just by creating another Angra Mainyu. This hypocrisy and Shirou's resolution is shown in the Zero's ending and ubw ending. Well there is also heaven's feel Shirou which is the destruction of whole superheroes concept. @@rajg.p7584 that's what I said🙄
I actually thought Kiritsugu changed his world view in the end. I think it was clear that he realized that the utilitaristic world view was flawed because it doesn’t bother to help/save more people than the majority, and is indifferent to the minority of people. This is made clear the way he for the first time saves only one (Shirou), instead of being obsessed of saving as many as possible, and is happy about this one individual life he could save. Was I the only one to see the ending this way?

@@s-094cam5 almost kiritsugu 2.0 but not entirely. Kiritsugu will always fight for the greater good, for the will of the majority. But Shirou (Archer Emiya) fights for the unadulterated justice. In ubw/ hgw5 his objectives were to change young/ present Shirou's course of life and save Rin at all cost. If Emiya assassin was there he would have tried to let that grail- Shinji berserker complex fight Gilgamesh and kill the winner of the remaining one. This series was true despair, brought by the Urobutcher...
And I wouldn't have had it any other way.
there's really a whole new context of tragedy when you see him doing his actions when you realize, deep down, he's really a good guy forcing himself to do evil for the greater good. When he rejected the grail, at least he could prevent it or anyone else from doing harm by winning and killing it, but when it didn't work, he needed to save at least 1 person or the evil he had done will really have been for nothing. After all that tragedy, he found peace knowing Shirou took up his mantle and believing he could do better.... and sure enough, Shirou defeated his future self that betrayed Kiritsgu's ideals, truly carrying on his will
Those who see Heaven's feel as the true sequel to FZ, for this reason, I disagree, though HF's tone certainly fits, UBW truly inherits it's will, spirit and themes
