Not worth debating, but I'm sticking with him meaning last one in the row. I've probably watched 100 of these paintings and never once seen him leave a huge hole in the painting like it would have been if he had actually stopped.
He had to paint every painting in the show at least twice for different camera angles because of the technological restraints of the time. Although he is seemingly just coming up with what to paint as he goes, he has a clear plan that he must follow. He is very talented in making it look very impromptu.

Those little things are what made Ross and Mr Rogers such an influence in life... They both will be sorely missed... R.I.P. to the both of them...

I’ve never watched Bob Ross. I had no idea that humans could be so.. nice. It may sound dumb or corny but he makes me feel like he’s known me and actually cares about me and if there’s one type of person that makes me want to do better it’s the person who makes me feel like a friend. I never thought Bob Ross would be my role model at 24 years old.

And literally, Bob Ross kept painting and kept doing his show until he got so sick that he couldn't do it anymore. He didn't give a shit that he had cancer, he kept going and doing what he loved because he didn't care. I admire him so much and I'm still watching him to this day. 2018. He's such an inspiration to me. RIP Bob Ross.

My late father and I would watch these shows together in our family room, and would laugh everytime he'd whisper, "Lets put a happy little tree right here". Bob would also so confidently put a smear of Van Dyke Arugala or something on the canvas, and we would both say, "He DEFINATELY f'ed the painting up!" And then he would blend everything together and the painting would be perfect.... Bob Ross was the man. You can have Pablo Picasso, Ill take Bob Ross everyday and twice on Sundays. 2023 and I’m binge watching! Lost my stepfather a year ago suddenly and tragically, and Bob Ross is helping me see beauty in life once again. Which is amazing

When Bob was talking about the trees at the very beginning, about what kind of a life they must have to affect their insides, I can't help but wonder if maybe Bob was talking about himself. The purest kindness is often forged from the deepest pain.
SilverAshes109 Story goes that the reason Bob Ross had such a soft voice and calming presence is because after 20 years as a USAF drill instructor, when he retired he swore he would never yell at anyone again. (And yes, he really was a drill instructor for years. Who'd have thought it?)
There was an episode where he said something like he was “waiting for the good times to return.” I want to say this was around the time his wife passed away and when he was diagnosed with cancer. Even though his life was going through a really rough patch, he used painting and the show to help others. He was really an amazing guy, and I imagine he had a lot of love for his fellow man. I wish I could write him a letter to say thanks.

I don't even paint. I absolutely love watching his videos. When I can't sleep at night I'll sit and watch. Next thing I know I'm happy, calm and relaxed. It's amazing how fast his canvas comes to life. I'm glad they put his videos up. I've missed him.

I like happy accidents, mostly in the form of sentences that have completely different contexts without certain punctuation. It can add more depth to a story, even by accident. For example: 'John had no clue where he was. His eyes strained as a light of some kind shone down on him from every part of the sky. He started seeing things, things that made him truly question everything. A man eating chicken. Hands reaching from the ground. Expressionless faces in the distance that were oddly clear enough to see the pores on their skin.' I meant to say 'man-eating chicken', but a simple grammar mistake gives us a slight look into his mind. If this place was his mind, and these were thoughts that he found disturbing, it shows that he has irrational fears.

This is what I watched as a kid on week days because in my days we didn't have good cartoons except for Saturday's 😆 so PBS was my only option. I always began watching unimpressed, it was all that was on, but by the end of the show I always found myself intrigued and inspired.

yeah, those colors with metals in the names are actually metallic oxides in the mixtures. Some of them are heavy metals or toxic, usually if you wash your hands and don't touch the paints directly, they won't get in your bloodstream. But everytime he fingerpainted that sun... T~T
The one and only!! I have yet to find another instructor like Bob Ross! His pleasantness, his calm and encouraging demeanor is what any student needs! His ability to be so flexible and his explanations allowed for individual creativity. It's never been ~ his way or the highway, it this that encourages the student to come into their own!! Now that's a hell of an instructor!! No thanks could possibly be enough for all the people he's helped and encouraged. Bob Ross will NEVER be forgotten. God bless.

When Bob was talking about the trees at the very beginning, about what kind of a life they must have to affect their insides, I can't help but wonder if maybe Bob was talking about himself. The purest kindness is often forged from the deepest pain.
SilverAshes109 Story goes that the reason Bob Ross had such a soft voice and calming presence is because after 20 years as a USAF drill instructor, when he retired he swore he would never yell at anyone again. (And yes, he really was a drill instructor for years. Who'd have thought it?)
There was an episode where he said something like he was “waiting for the good times to return.” I want to say this was around the time his wife passed away and when he was diagnosed with cancer. Even though his life was going through a really rough patch, he used painting and the show to help others. He was really an amazing guy, and I imagine he had a lot of love for his fellow man. I wish I could write him a letter to say thanks.

I don't even paint. I absolutely love watching his videos. When I can't sleep at night I'll sit and watch. Next thing I know I'm happy, calm and relaxed. It's amazing how fast his canvas comes to life. I'm glad they put his videos up. I've missed him.

Whenever I cant sleep, I come to Bob. His voice soothes me right to sleep and the brush strokes adds to it. He helps me more than I'd ever imagine

Jesse The Writer Guy Exactly. I write as a hobby, and I don't stop working on something until every little nitpick is sorted out. I don't like mistakes. I like happy accidents, mostly in the form of sentences that have completely different contexts without certain punctuation. It can add more depth to a story, even by accident. For example:
'John had no clue where he was. His eyes strained as a light of some kind shone down on him from every part of the sky. He started seeing things, things that made him truly question everything. A man eating chicken. Hands reaching from the ground. Expressionless faces in the distance that were oddly clear enough to see the pores on their skin.'
I meant to say 'man-eating chicken', but a simple grammar mistake gives us a slight look into his mind. If this place was his mind, and these were thoughts that he found disturbing, it shows that he has irrational fears.

yeah, those colors with metals in the names are actually metallic oxides in the mixtures. Some of them are heavy metals or toxic, usually if you wash your hands and don't touch the paints directly, they won't get in your bloodstream.

The one and only!! I have yet to find another instructor like Bob Ross! His pleasantness, his calm and encouraging demeanor is what any student needs! His ability to be so flexible and his explanations allowed for individual creativity. It's never been ~ his way or the highway, it this that encourages the student to come into their own!!
Now that's a hell of an instructor!! No thanks could possibly be enough for all the people he's helped and encouraged. Bob Ross will NEVER be forgotten. God bless.
