When deleting the bones, you should also make sure to view hidden bones (gray circle on the bottom of PMX Editor, the fourth option) because bones that end in a point actually have another bone there without a tail.
That is the first tutorial, that I've encountered, that explains the PMX Tailor. You can't imagine, how often I've struggled with fixing one of my models weird physics, when using the Unity MMD Exporter, and the Vroid2PMX converter left the physics static, unless I use PMX Tailor. It can help to import either the VRM into Blender first. or the pmx with physics instead, to get rid of the Zero Weight bones there. ( Using CATS or Uunya MMD Tools. both provide a neat feature for that; blender 2.7x+ and blender 3.0+ only, blender 4.x is not yet properly supported by either tool) Additionally if you make obscured Parts transparent in Vroid already( in case of asymetry just disable the mirror mode), as well as use the Skin Mask feature( everything you paint in as black will be deleted), VRoid Studio will get rid of the transparent faces by itself using the Delete Transparent meshes option.( if only there was a feature, to ignore the face mesh though)
this is one of the best directions on 'how to' out there. Some issues to be careful of that I ran across was when I copied or moved the PMX Editor and Tailor to other drives, they became corrupted. It might be better to download separately for each drive. When I attempted the Japanese to English it also became corrupted and I was missing some bones and only had the basic skeletal structure of the model, so I guess I will be learning Japanese now. And the tutorial is right. Be very careful when you edit the bones. Ohayou and have a Miku day.
Thanks, my biggest issue was the hair when it came to VRoid conversions. Now my models have bouncy hair like the did in DanSingSing when they were VRM files.
Great tutorial! But when i was following along, i noticed that when i came to the hierarchy part, there was still clipping/transparency. I went to see some other tutorials and apparently, it's sometimes suggested to move what is at the forefront of the model, to move it all the way at the bottom. So for anyone still struggling with clipping, try moving your stuff at the bottom
pmx editor im getting an errors when load up my model CSScript .Dll failed to load I've followed through video till this had happen there a way to fix the issue?
2:37 at this step when i click the button nothing appears in the box where there is supposed to be physics. this is my first time using vroid so idk what i did wrong
If you've made a custom hair style in vroid itself instead of using the premade ones, you will need to add the physics in VRoid itself first. It's pretty simple, just go to where you went to make the hairstyle and click "edit bounce" instead of editing the hair
The application isn't working at all for me, I load the VRM and then try to run it and almost instantly there's an error and no PMX model is outputted. Help?
Hi, I am having an issue with pmx editor, when I try to open my pmx file of my vrm charater, there's a japanese pop up and it doesn't import anything of the model in the program, what should I do?
Small question, maybe you can help me, I have a problem with the program. I have no pmx file after converting. I have a folder yes, but there is no pmx file included only a text file. I have absolutely no idea what this is due to.
It might've encountered an error and stopped the export, not sure why tbh but, I will say I had errors when I tried to use the translation links that came with the file (i.e. to use the converter in english) that's why I showed the original japanese version of the program. It's also worth noting that it only works on models straight out of VRoid, if you've edited it in Unity then you'll have to go back and re-export the original model
I had to re-convert the VRM to get it to work, all the PMX files that were converted from VRM files were from January. I had to do it with 2 of my models and it worked. Of course I had to do it with both VRoid2PMX and PMX Tailor in the default language.
If anyone has any idea... this software only converts vroid models so if you have attached accessories in unity and save it as vrm, it won't be added to the converter. Is there a way to get the .vrm exported from unity with items or hair accessories to be baked into pmx? I did this multiple times and yes the accessories are missing. Another way is to downgrade unity and use pmx exporter but it's so tedious.
VRoid has updated recently to export to VRM1.0 Vroid2Pmx won't work for VRM1.0 models, just to aware everyone. The model has to be VRM0.0 for this program to work, at least for now. Fortunatelly the option to export as VRM0.0 is still available but IDK for how long.
Curious Question: What do you do with the rest of the PMX Conversion files once you are done editing the Main PMX File in question? Do you just remove them out or keep them incase something messes up? Because, I'm currently making an MMD Pack based off my Indie-Cartoon "Hayla Studios: Boot-Up" and wanted to make sure nothing goes wrong.
I always keep hem - at least until I'm 100% satisfied with the finished product (having tested it and everything). You always wanna save a copy, instead of saving over your work, because it has happened to me SO many times where I realized several edits later that something had gone wrong with a previous step. So yeah definitely recommend hanging onto those until you're certain that you're finished
my model doesn't have skin anymore... what did i do wrong? :/ EDIT: i see i have problems with the texture... i looked into tex folder and i see just the color blue and the jeans texture... whi is happening this? :(
Thank you for the tutorial! I have a quick question regarding how to fix clipping if you've added a tail to your model! I created the tail just with the hair tool in vroid and then in unity connected the tail to the hip, only issue is when I've then gone through with the vrm2pmx conversion, the tail and skirt kinda of clip into one another, I'm assuming this has to do with the weight physics but not entirely sure since I don't regularly use mmd. I tried looking up other tutorials but haven't found anything regarding vroid tails and fixing them
I imagine it has something to do with what groups the skirt+tail physics are in, this tutorial explains it a little better than I could pmxeditortutorials.tumblr.com/post/172655831495/physics-in-mmd
Thank You For The Tutorial But There Is A Problem With Expression And The Mouth On My Model Is Getting Weird After Converted VRM To PMX, How Do I Fix It?
I'm not good with expression tbh, all I can say is check in VRoid studio itself with the expression editor to make sure they aren't.... weird looking XD sometimes VRoid's expressions look strange, so you need to edit them in VRoid's expression editor. That's all I know
My vroid model has a tail that i created a using hair, after converting and playing in mmd the tail is clipping and going all over , how to fix this ? XD
You need to go into pmxeditor and re-parent the tail physics to the lowerbody bone instead of the head (since it's made from hair, vroid parents the tail to the model's head)
when you launch pmxeditor 2 tabs open, (pmxeditor and pmxview) in the pmxeditor tab click on ''file (F)'' and then click on ''open' (O)', and select the model of pmxtailor you made, the one with the lot of numbers, and after that your model will appear, i dont know if this works for everyone but this worked for me :)

Having some trouble with hair accessories made from hair textures. in pme the transparency around the texture is black and i cant seem to resolve that? anyone have an idea on how to fix?
Check and make sure the transparency in the texture image file itself is correct, there could also be drawing issues if the materials aren't in the right order. Or, it could be an issue with the edgline, since VRoid2Pmx makes an additional material for the edgelines of materials with transparency, so that could be the source of the issue as well
There is no application in the vroid2pmx file, there are shortcuts, but no application. When I attempt to open any shortcuts it fails. The readme file is just a bunch of letters and stuff I do not understand

Yeah, the converter only works on VRM models straight out of VRoid, if you've made a tail or something else out of hair you'll have to fix the physics in PmxEditor (i.e. re-parent the bones, make sure it's rigged correctly, etc.) There's a great tutorial on how physics work in MMD and PMX editor here ruclips.net/video/AKElR-wtRnw/видео.html (it is a bit old I'll admit, but it goes over everything very well and they've made other mmd physics tutorials as well)
