Zen Core between them are mostly likely to be the same. The differences are the flagship has V Piano, N-Zyme, EX version available or EX upgrade with ACB-(Jupiter 6, SH101, JD800, JX3P, etc) XLR outputs, extra sub outs, XLR combo inputs, and a way stronger build quality.

The difference in the sound is purely a slight EQ adjustment. If you’re using the 06 for the sounds alone and don’t need the V-Piano function in the 6, and if you using a DAW to track like Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton ect. the 06 would work just fine in my opinion.

I've seen side-by-sides of original fantom vs. 0x fantoms and others it sounds like the originals are significantly better-sounding. However, I've noticed that a) comparisons tend to have the lighter-version on top (more awkward play posture) and b) the lighter version is going to have worse key-feel that may affect expressiveness, especially for a concert pianist type player. Based on this vid, I would guess that if you patched the original fantom vs. the lighter 0x version as the playback sound module, and used any high-quality keybed for performance (controller), then the sounds will be identical (they're literally the same sound engine doing the same thing -- maybe the original Fantom might have a better digital-analog converter and instrument line-level sound output stage...).
How are the key actions between the two? I played a Fantom 6 current model in the store and it felt like pure class and luxury with both the keybed and switches/buttons
Yeah, we know you can play. The sounds pretty much close to both versions. I was hoping there will be a comparison of the futures and options, not the sound.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but the sounds are going to be the same, no? Maybe there are some DA converter differences, but comparing a Fantom with a Fantom-0 is like comparing the Fantom to Roland's Zenology Cloud Suite 🤷♂. Love your channel though!

Hi, since the 06 was only 250mb for expansions, could I use a pendrive with more capacity and place the expansions there to be loaded on the Fantom 06 from the USB port ?
They are basically the same instrument, Fantom 0 lineup only have some limitations (less memory, less expansions, cheaper construction, and 8 parts with seamless sound switching) but the main instrument is exactly the same 😉
Lol. You're talking b.s. All the sounds demonstrated here are done with the exact same sound engine. You WANT the ''big Fantom" to sound better. But it doesn't.
@@Frontdesk99 the engine might be the same but the key beds are different and it’s enough to make the sound slightly different as well. It’s not obvious but it’s there.
@@Frontdesk99 yea it can. Every detail counts. I’ve owned hundreds of keyboards and synths. The keys make a difference the same way weighted keys on an electric piano does.

I still consider in this travel package a robust memory to handle as an identification number, more buttons on the panel, better keys and with aftertouch, bigger, the V-piano engine... I see that it makes up for the difference, yes.
The Fantom does sound better using different sound engines+ it's built more solidly. Right, I'd buy the Fantom 07 and buy the Galaxias software. Loads of sound engines ect
I only listened, didn't look at the video, and the only 2 sounds I could definitely tell when you switched between keyboards was the piano and the e-piano. Everything else I was unable to tell the difference. And this is not the first time I've seen this kind of a comparison. It seems like for very little you pay a very premium price. I mean, I realise the build quality is different on the Fantom 6, as well as the action on the keys, but the 06 is sold for around £1000 and the 6 is sold for somewhere between £2600-£3000. Not sure why you would pay so much more for so little difference. And the differences are even smaller if you go for the 08 which costs around £1500. You get very similar build quality and weighted keys. So... 🤷♂
The only thing I can say is the only tone that I could tell the difference was in the SN acoustic Piano!!! The high in the 06 was brighter the the flagship and the low in I the flagship was fuller mid range was thicker then the 06 other then that all the other comparisons were the same to me!!!
Congratulations on the video. Have you tested the jupiter 8 and Juno 106 expansion for the Fantom 0? Did you manage to analyze if the output sounds the same as physical keyboards?
Made up for the Juno DS with the fantom 0. The Juno DS was a bit disappointed. This 0 series sounds just like the flagship so unless you're sound editing, either one is fine unless one is "picky" far as build quality and key beds. Definitely won't have that issue with me. I just recently bought an x50 over a triton le. A picky keyboardist would never. 😂😂😂😂
Most of the sounds here sound identical to each other. I think there might be specialty sounds that the fantom might have that might sound better but the sample playback seems identical.
thank you for video ,there is very noticeable difference in sound dynamic ,and who saying its not, go get better headphones or speakers and better DA converters
Ok, so on the engines that they share, they both sound basically identical. But if you want the N/Zyme engine or the V-Piano engine, than you need the bigger one. And even on the shared plugins, the limited memory of the 06 means that you can't load all of them at once. This is an interesting comparison, but the fact that they sound identical doesn't mean that they really are identical in every respect.
You can load all the 4 EXM on the Fantom-0, you have less space for EXZ.. the cons it’s that you have to pay extra money for the jp8, juno106, sh101 and jx8p models on the F-0. And yes no v piano and no N/Zyme
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB Well, yeah. If you spend an extra $600, than you can buy the synth model expansions and load them all. But there are more than a dozen EXZ expansions (the old EX sound cards from the XV series) and you won't be able to load any of these unless you unload a model expansion first. And that assumes that you don't use any memory for user samples, as this is also shared with the expansions. And, as I mentioned, a couple of engines are not available at all. Basically, if you plan to make extensive use of expansions or samples, than you should budget for the bigger Fantom. Also, the pianos on the Fantom-0 don't support damper or string resonance (only the V-Pianos), so if realistic pianos are a key point for you, than, again, the big Fantom would be much better.
Because Fantom-0 is way cheaper than Fantom and for less money you can have basically the same instrument. With this video you can hear that they sound 99% the same
06 is one of the best 'budget' workstations next to Korg Nautilus. Roland has a much nice user interface and a lot more controllers. The 6 has the ability to handle the latest updates though and far more storage for additional sound sets. Still wishing Roland took the Jupiter X and added the full Fantom system into it, along with a giant touch screen! Jupiter 80 was the same issue. Amazing sound engines, but no workstation and not nearly enough controllers. Roland has the making of a next gen workstation. Instead, four years later, we still have the same core Fantom software with a couple nice upgrades. :( Montage starts looking better and better. M6 is killer and only $500 more than the Fantom 6. Loyal to Roland, but maybe not this round!
@Simbor Nabor The other sounds of the real Fantom also sound richer than those on the Fantom 0. It's the difference between cutting throug a mix or not.
Seems what they all have the same engine and must sound identical (in case of identical DAC). SN pianos both the same and very limited - 1/3 expansions (no string resonance, and weak damper res or no at all, no SN piano tweakings)- it even was more complex in Integra/FA series devices. But F6 has an advantage - complex V-Piano engine - just like inside Roland RD2000 keyb(and it could be interesting to hear it against simplier SN pianos). F06 seems to have very cheap keys (like basic Casio keyboards with a lack of detailness). So it almost imposible to play piano tones properly. Of course F0 will sound at a completly different angle if you will connect to it something like an 88 hammer keyboard with aftertouch...
The real improvements are: better keys and construction, more ports on the back, more models inside (v piano, n/zyme..) and more memory inside and double the BMC power (4 bmc’s on fantom and 2 on fantom-0). But yes they sound really close
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB The Fantom has a bigger touchscreen I think? I even heard that four models of the Roland Cloud synths are included for free when you buy the big one .. for the O6,O7 and O8 you have to buy these seperately. Is this truth? And also missing the analog section in the small ones ... But love the sounds of both of them... still struggling which one to buy ..
Id hazard a guess that even if they use the same sounds the DAC’s will be different, so thats where the difference is IMO. Both stand up in the own right and will get the job done.
There are differences, but subtle nuances, of course also in options.
The biggest difference: the price 😄

why should they sound different? It’s Zencore inside 🤷🏼♂️
Less memory, different DA Converter… ;)
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB I doubt that makes a significant difference 🤷🏼♂️
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB lol on voit ca ici
Couple of questions sir. Both of them have piano roll editor? You can use the pads to greater drum loops?
They are basically the same instrument, Fantom 0 lineup only have some limitations (less memory, less expansions, cheaper construction, and 8 parts with seamless sound switching) but the main instrument is exactly the same 😉
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB thank you sir
Why do they have to give them all such similar names now? Fantom6, FA06, Fantom06, Fantom G6.
Much better when they had individual names
The FANTOM x sounds better to me than the 0. It has a warmth and depth to it that I can’t describe.
@@9bridges Ok that's the first time I heard that a KEYBED can alter the SOUND of a synthesizer HAHAHAHA
@@Frontdesk99 yea it can. Every detail counts. I’ve owned hundreds of keyboards and synths. The keys make a difference the same way weighted keys on an electric piano does.
I've got a DKS library... but I don't believe it has the Tonewheel Organ.
Is that available for purchase?
the tonewheel is available only on part 2 :) I don't have created any patch with the tonewheel of Fantom ;)
output hardware's diferences
What is the difference???

I think that 30% more quality not justify 300% more price.
Lovely machine.. This is giving much inspiration I see from magical powers to invite pleasure to ear..
Hi, yes I have all the 4 models into the fantom-0 but i don’t have a jp8 or juno 106 to make a comparison. But they are really good ;)
It's like the Fantam 6's internal master EQ is flat and the Fantom 06's has a midrange cutoff, it takes away power and presence from the 06's sound.
The 6 is a bit warmer feeling than the 06 and funkier. Unless I'm bananas.
Thanks.
The real question is how does the Fantom compare to Roland Cloud… ZENOLOGY in particular
Are these the Factory sounds or DKS Sounds?
Thx
ElectricEdddie
All the sounds named with DKS are mine and you can buy at my website, there you can find a redirect on synthonia.com ;)
Also, the pianos on the Fantom-0 don't support damper or string resonance (only the V-Pianos), so if realistic pianos are a key point for you, than, again, the big Fantom would be much better.
same sound ! so why two different models ?
Because Fantom-0 is way cheaper than Fantom and for less money you can have basically the same instrument.
With this video you can hear that they sound 99% the same
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB true, it's almost the same, except for pianos ! thank you
Hardly any difference between the two really
Are you part of the Schiller Band?
Unfortunately not 😉
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB but undoubtedly a fan, I hear ;-)
@@windsormusic absolutely yes!
Loyal to Roland, but maybe not this round!
hear the difference in the quality of the keyboard itself
06 almost sounds chunkier in a bad way
The real Fantom has more body to the sound than the Fantom 0. They said that the Fantom 0 would sound as good as the real Fantom, but it doesn't.
@Simbor Nabor The other sounds of the real Fantom also sound richer than those on the Fantom 0. It's the difference between cutting throug a mix or not.
To my deaf ears both sounds the same if you are not trying find a bone in a d**k......
I would say, sounds are the same
I hear no difference imho its some filter that makes sound sound more oomp if its same technology Id expect same results from both devices
Yeah, but they are identical in their sounds and effects. It is exactly the same engine except for a couple of cases.
Exact same sound generator, just different a build quality not to insult the buyers' cost of the top model.
Schiller on end ... :)
Yes 😉
I hear almost no difference. Only the Fantom 6 sounds better because of aftertouch
Sound the same, stop trying to said that the fantom6 sound better than the fantom06 .
Un cambio con una cobalt 8 🙂
06 powered by adaptor and only 6 kg..........6 powered by ac cord and weight is 15+ kg.........light weight no good.
hyperventilate, respect
No aftertouch! 😡😠🤬

Old Fantom g is better than both new fantom
