Best I’ve come up with so far is deeply felt compursion for the immense joy & job well done of both the marching band and Chappell roan (I know she wasn’t there on the field - but being such an icon so early in her career that a famous marching band does a four song tribute to you - that is a job well done!)

I cried too!!!! I'm an Ally. Have been since the 80's, when I had to watch people I loved be attacked for just being themselves. I lost someone very dear to me from AIDS, and his family had to hide his cause of death because sympathy would have turned to disapproval. I think I cried because seeing the current political climate returning to a place of SO MUCH hate for the LGBTQ community has been heartbreaking. Then to see Chappell Roan and her music being SO loved and SO accepted and NORMALIZED by others (like this band), gives me hope that "we" as a people are still morally and emotionally moving in the right direction.
I was excited to see so many men in the color guard and cheerleaders! That was NOT the case when I was in marching band just 10 years ago, it makes me so happy to see gender boundaries breaking down like that now!
I go to a school in a small town (pop of 9500) so are band is fairly small and our guard is only me and two of my other friends who are both girls, but I’m working on getting more people including guys to join bc guard is super cool and everyone should do it :)
