Don McLean wrote a masterful tribute to Vincent Van Gogh, which is performed here to perfection. Feelings--wistful sadness, melancholy mixed with quiet happiness for the recognition and appreciation of the greatness of Van Gogh that was denied to him during his life. Loved the moving water and the painting transformation in the video. HF does it again 🙂
Love this collaboration! "Vincent" is such a great song by Don McLean! He originally did it in 1972. What a great remake with Home Free! Rob's voice is perfect for this song. Such a beautiful tribute to the sad life of the painter Vincent Van Gogh. He suffered from depression & committed suicide. He never saw any success during his life. But now his paintings are worth millions of dollars. Home Free also collaborated with Don on "American Pie".
Stunning! Don sounds great for 78! He was 75 when he did American Pie with HF. And those songs were sung 50 years ago. Home Free backing him up was wonderful. Rob killed it too. Loved the video with the paintings. Just superb. Good one Saeed!🤩😄
He is 78 and sounds just like he did when I first heard him about 40 years ago. He is a fantastic talent that truly isn't fading with age. I love the respect that Home Free show the true talent from years gone by. I really believe it is now mutual between them and Don and it shows in the way they sing together. Vincent Van Gogh was featured in this song beautifully. Artists singing about an artist and making it true auditory art...WOW!!!
Don McLean doesn't write lyrics - he puts poetry to music. He still sounds great. Home Free are perfect collaborators - they always highlight other artists and stay true to the artist's concept. Such a hauntingly beautiful song, beautifully sung. And I so want a copy of the picture at the end in which they're literally absorbed.
No need to explain how it made you feel... it's been doing that to some of us for the past 50 years! (And it can still bring me to tears!) The arrangement & vocals were extraordinary, of course, but the icing on the cake for me was the artistic choice to blend Don & the guys into Vincent's "Terrace at Night" at the end, keeping Vincent's memory alive and Don's classic song, as well. Now Home Free has been graciously allowed to join Don forever in this stunning tribute. ❤
A huge statement has been reinforced numerous times over the last half dozen years when notorious artists have collaborated with Home Free in singing legacy hits and in several cases have reached out to Home Free. Home Free has shown extraordinary respect to these artists to the point there is mutual respect and admiration that is very visible both ways. Home Free is a very humble group of guys who know how to pay their respects as they showcase these well-respected and well-known artists. Just wow, and we are the benefactors of this wonderful trust as they deliberately give each other and us a chance to enjoy once again a freshness to the decades that gone on before us with a wonderful tribute. Home Free is showing the industry a strong core value of High Regard, Strong Consideration, Attentiveness, High Opinion, and Due Regard for those who have set the stage for the music we enjoy today. Thank You Home Free, for your leadership by action that we all admire and appreciate doing things the right way!!!!! Notice the portrait at the end the center one has Don and Home Free amongst the ones hanging on the wall they are looking at. The warmth that Home Free brings to the song backing up Don is simply so pleasing to the ear!! ❣
I've known this song forever, but the lyrics resonated much more with this version. Home Free have a knack for doing that to me with all their songs - it's like I'm listening to it for the first time. Apparently even when it's Don doing his own lovely song!
It's such a touching song and they paid great respect to it here. One thing that touches me most is that they turned themselves into a impressionist painting as if Vincent Van Gogh did it himself. It's very moving. Thank you for reacting to this beauty.
It was a stroke of genius to use just the guitar without additional percussion. I like watching the shifting paintings behind them. Rob certainly rises to the occasion. Great reaction.
This is truly so phenomenal! What a voice Don McLean still has! And of course Austin also sang great, but Rob's voice is just perfect for this song. His voice so warm, soft as silk and full of emotion. The quiet background vocals and guitar playing complete it for me. It's the same great song as my youth, but with the Home Free twist it's something different, but stil amazing. A beautiful song where I, of course, as a Dutch person, know the history of Vincent van Gogh well. I lived not far from his birthplace for a while. If I could, I would have given Don McLean and Home Free a bouquet of sunflowers in memory of Vincent. The sunflower one of his most famous paintings 🌻...... 💖 💖💖💖💖💖
So beautiful. Tim was quoted as saying that this is perhaps the most perfect song ever written. Definitely watch the collab on American Pie. It's fabulous. They also back Don on the title track of his new album, American Boys. There's an audio-only version on Don's channel. It's a bop.
Don Mclean still got it. Don and Home Free did a great job together. The harmonies were great ,Rob and Austin did great. I could hear Tim's bass. I love Home Free and they are my favorite group. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Saeed .. this beautiful song has touched my soul for over 30 years. It never needed to be filled with instruments.. the words do just fine on their own. I hope you listen to it a few hundred times , like I have. 🤍🎼🤍
Don wrote this song after reading a book about Van Gogh. Don was struggling with things in his life at the time and the story of Vincent touched him. He wanted to capture the beauty of the paintings, which I feel he did beautifully. But he also wanted to show the world that Vincent wasn't insane. Don grasped that Vincent struggled with mental illness and depression and wanted to get the world to see the man as he was...a man who saw the world differently and who tried to show us what he saw.
This was on the American Pie album which I bought when I was a teen over 50 years ago. This was my favorite song on the album and sounds even better here.
For a couple years I had been having a recurring dreams that Home Free did this song -- I guess some dreams do come true. I have had that dream one more time since the release. My hubby of 52 years is Vincent and a painter and about the same age as Don!
This performance maintains an equal harmony vocal presence . Both artists are great! Don McLean 's voice remains truly exceptional. This song brings me back to the 1970s - 1980s, especially songs like 'American Pie' with its intensive lyric., Thanks for your reaction
Oh I just searched to see if you reacted to this song. You may want to go back to him playing this live pictures in a white shirt. Stellar performance and way more impactful I feel, anyway. Amazing song. Heartbreaking.

Every time I hear this song it moves me to tears. This is a Don McLean masterpiece and his collaboration with Home Free was beyond beautiful.
He is in his late 70s. He selected Home Free to do the 50th anniversary of American Pie. He sounds great with Home Free
They sound amazing together.
Don is 78 years

Such a beautifully written song from the past ... another great collab from Don and Home Free ! No need to talk , just listen to the gorgeous music !
I have loved "Vincent" since it was released in '71-'72. This collaboration with Don McLean has only renewed the love for this song.
79 years old……..they did a good job of this…
Thanks for letting me know. Great job!

Hi! Hope you are well. Such a beautiful song. Thanks for watching!
This song, for me, is for all the people who suffer mental illness and never been understand and got help.. 💔💔💔💔💔
❤️❤️❤️

#HOMEFREE...a masterpiece!
About Vincent Van Gogh. Look at all the paintings behind them.
Yes, i mentioned that in the video. Great painter.
He said that in the first pause
For a couple years I had been having a recurring dreams that Home Free did this song -- I guess some dreams do come true. I have had that dream one more time since the release. My hubby of 52 years is Vincent and a painter and about the same age as Don!
Wow! That is incredible! Sometimes i have that too, feels weird when it happens sometimes 😅. Thanks for sharing.

What a voice! Thanks for watching, Orly.
None of us were meant for this world, not the way it is now.
Agreed
Loved your reaction! Love Home Free!!!
Thanks so much.
Don, Rob and Austin killed this one. But Tim , Adam and Chance's bg vocals were incredible. You can see Chance getting lost in the song. Love it
I want the painting!! ❤❤
American Pie is great, but Vincent is a masterpiece.
Lovely 😍. I also like how they did the ending.
Wow, is correct!
Just subscribed, thank you for reacting to this beautiful collaboration.
Thanks so much for subscribing.
The cadence of this ssong is so unusual but helps convey the feelings. Notice the HF guys in the last watercolor at the end?
That was beautiful at the end.
I missed you. You haven't been coming up on my RUclips feed. As always Home Free is bringing us together.
Loved this one. Have one more Home Free reaction coming later today.

An incredible song. Definitely need to listen to his original version. Thanks for watching.
Don is geboren op 2 oktober 1945
Dankjewel!
For someone not knowing what the song was about, you were quite perceptive.
Thanks so much!
