  • When someone says they have diabetes, often they are referring to type 2 diabetes, which is the most common form of diabetes.
    Ozempic can be used for type 2 diabetes, but what about type 1 diabetes?!
    Let’s get into it!

    T1D for 43 yrs. On a Tandem insulin pump and Dexcom CGM. I was on ozempic for 4 months before I had to discontinue due to excessive diarrhea, vomiting and belching. I lost 27 lbs in the first 2 months, weight that I had gained after three years of Achilles injuries and two surgeries. I was able to decrease my daily insulin requirements from 90 units to around 60 units and my time in range went from 70% to 80%.

    GLP-1 causes delayed stomach emptying (On Ozempic, this could be as much as 2 hours later based on my CGM blood sugar curves) In other words, adding GLP-1 medications may impact when/how you inject your insulin. In other words, it is very important to consult with your healthcare providers.

    This video may eventually have to be re-visited. Some new research with small group of 10 patients, who were newly diagnosed with type-1 diabetes, was published (9/8/2023) as correspondence of New England Journal of Medicine by Dr. Paresh Dandona. After three months of taking semaglutide, all 10 patients were able to stop taking prandial insulin. And after six months of taking semaglutide, seven patients were able to stop basal insulin as well.

    0.7 Reduction in a1c is still a lot and makes a difference long term! Whatever I tried, also with low carb i only managed to lower my a1c from 6.6 to 6.2%. unfortunately it is not a sustainable diet for me. So again at 6.5% with 80% time in range. If i could lower it to 5.8% that would be awsome and i am pretty sure that would mean about 95% time in range. Every 0.1 makes a difference. I have diabetes for 33 years, many of them not in good control. So every year that I can add in low numbers adds up for my time on this planet

    T2 used to be on ozempic. Lost 22 lbs got off bp medicines. But i had no appetite. No thirst. Glucose contol fsntastic. But I couldn't stand never be hungry
    Never been thirsty and having to force myself to remember to drink liquid. Plus the shortage twice in the 6-months i took it. It did lower my a1c. Been off since October. Gained 10 lbs during the holidays. A1c went way up. I have finally lost that weight back. Started a cgm 23 days ago. A2c dropping. I can tell by my average glucose level. It will probably be down 2 points when I see doctor in 10 weeks.

      Really? In Germany it is 80 Euros per month ... Anyway, how many years longer do you live or live without complications with a a1c lowered at 0.7% - i would say a lot. For me that would probably mean a time in range of nearly 100 instead of 80 percent which really means a lot. I would almost be normoglycemic. It would mean a lot to me. Unfortunately t1ds in Germany are not eligiable for prescription if not obese and you can't buy without prescription 😢 i am 10 kg overweight and more stable bloodsugars would help me trememdously for losing weight. Just in this moment i need a snack to prevent a low ...😢

  • @jesuspirela7568
    @jesuspirela7568 5 месяцев назад

    I’ve been T1D for 18 years and I use 2 insulines since the beginning, shot and long action. What about if I used both with ozempic? I’m not replacing my 2 main insulines and just adding one more to help me reduce my weight because T1D can also get fat too. I read that ozempic could help me to be more sensible to my insulines and I think that would be a good point because I may reduce my main insulines amount but never replace them. Give me your opinion please 😢 I wanna reduce my weight.
