The journey of a fan is typically being confused by this season, then getting to the last two episodes and loving them, and then rewatching the season and realizing what you had.
This is one of those episodes that gets a lot better on rewatches. The first time I found it too weird, and not something I wanted to watch so close to the finale. Now I love it. Space Elderly Britta? So stupid you have to love it. And the ending scene is top tier.
Abed's monologue about inviting shows into your life and accepting that it will have bad weeks, and that part about holding on/letting go is one of my favorite sentiments in this show and television as a whole.
Funny how Aaron correlates strange/weird with something that is bad. The weirder this show gets, the more obsessed I become. I love this season and think it's definitely way stronger than season 4.
I find this episode not weird at all. I like the moral of Abed about holding for too long . And also the ciritique about the abuse od flashback, it's a lazy way of doing storytelling.
Honestly here, i thought this one was worse than S4 on my first watch, it was jarring how different it was (you could feel the slower energy of the jokes because of the higher screentime compared to previous seasons); this episode for example was the first community episode i didn't feel like finish it on one sitting because how boring i found it (the post credits scene saved it for me jajaa) On rewatch thought it's definitely better than S4, still weird thought
I've always really liked this episode, but I'm not sure why. Elroy is hilarious, the Dean is terrible in the best way, Jeff and Abed play off of each other in a fun way. It's just fun
This and the next episode are 2 of the absolute best episodes in all of Community, and were probably the hardest to edit down to the 10 minute limit because they’re filled with comedic gems. This episode also proved Jim Rash was robbed of an Emmy Nomination for acting as well as Dan Pudi. And I believe this was Abed’s Inception episode because he was so disassociated from reality he almost ended up like Mal.
I love how Harmon uses the flashback sequences to point out and mock how flashbacks recontextualizes a story. Abed is basically trying to retcon stuff in order to save the day. Doesn't he also say in this episode like how if the story starts where it did, it must mean it can only get worse? By recontextualizing the scene he was trying to make the story fit a narrative, but that's not how life works. You can only shape the future, not the past, is the message. It's also the theme of the end tag.
This is one of my favorite episodes from seasons 4, 5 or 6. Lots of great moments in the RV. It has a dark ending though. :) You've probably already watched the finale, which is an episode I love.
I always loved this ep for it's real depiction of dysfunctional family/friend dynamics. A lot of S6 can be described this way and it makes sense how a lot of people don't get it. It's like the opposite of S4 where I don't get that season but a lot of people like it.
I feel like season 6 is them just flexing their comedy muscles. Developing these characters sort of takes a back seat in favor of making great comedy. It’s fair that people aren’t as invested in season 6 since 3 out of the 7 original study group members are gone. But on rewatches I sort of consider season 6 as a victory lap and just them making a funny show for the sake of being funny, which I’m all for!
I swear I feel like Dan Harmon writes more of his episodes backwards than he admits. Like he thought of a giant hand and giant watch and worked backwards from there.🤣🤣🤣
You know the crew are from a massive car culture when the idea of walking around while moving is a big deal and when someone says "Like a plane" it doesn't _immediately_ click that in fact it's like _almost any_ form of transportation _except_ a car (so bus, plane, train, ship etc.). (that said, camper vans - as we call them - _are_ pretty great :)
Season 6 is so good i simply dont get the hate. Easily a top 3 season, some of the funniest stuff in the show. Love the more absurdist lean to a lot of episodes.
I understand the hate, even if I completely disagree. It comes from people that miss the original cast and tone from seasons 1-3 and people like Aaron that don't like absurdity.
@@RoderickThe13 Agreed. Frankie and Elroy are great, but three sevenths of the original group are gone. I love season 6, but can understand fans who miss those characters.
Aaron's taste is so interesting in how mundane it is. He's a good case study of general populaces and how they tend to have visceral discomfort simply from something being different. You can see it in his struggle to articulate his own feeling, his almost defensiveness at the fact that he doesn't have much of a reason for his opinions, but nonetheless his inevitable human reaction of confusion = fear = bad.
This season is definitely influenced by his work with Justin Roiland on Rick and Morty. It's not necessarily BAD but it's super weird for Community and feels out of place. It's still funny, but it's not the vibe we're used to.
I guess I'll be the one person who agrees with Aaron that this episode (and much of this season) is a bit weird in a BAD way. Not worse than season 4 but a little self-indulgently meta on Harmon's part to the point that it loses focus. Luckily the last three episodes are a lot better
My strongest reaction to this episode was realising I have another tapestry in the same series as the one on the wall in the last scene. Otherwise, I have to say, I didn't find it a great episode.
Definitely the worst episode of the season. I like season 6 in general, it's definitely different, darker, weirder, but I think it holds itself up pretty well in general, even if this episode dropped the ball. And Franky and Elroy definitely help even though we lost Troy and Shirley. But they are running out of steam and know it, and decided to meta about it a bunch.
i agree this episode was wierd, somehow the jokes felt forced. i think they wanted to do another bottle episode, but the conflict got strangely agressive and "serious" (for this show) and that clashed with the jokey tone they wanted to shift to. (not allways, but enough times to be noticable) still not a horrible episode, but in my opinion one of the weakest eoisodes of season 6 and the show as a whole.

Rewatching season 6 makes it better every time. The tone shift is just super strange upon first viewing. Definitely wayyyyyy better than season 4.
This has to be the most unhinged bottle episode of any sitcom in history
You ever see the Vision Quest episode of Archer?
@@jrob18mvp Yeah, that one takes the cake when it comes to "unhinged."

Extra thick straps! Extra thick straps! Extra thick straps! Extra thick straps!
I just realised how close we are to the end 😢
I've been waiting for "a BETTER DADDY with a BIGGER HAND" from the moment this show was selected
This is honestly one of my favourite episodes of the whole show
This is legitimately my favourite episode of the entire show
Can't wait for next week! One of my favourites!

Community is a show that ends up as a different show than when it started.
I love this season
Its funny how they call season 6 weird and then watch a scene from the zombie episode.
I love that you can clearly see the transition to more rick & morty-esque adventures, and then dan harmon made rick & morty
"I'm Space Elder Britta"
“…What are you guys talking about?”
Me and my friend quote this often.
Season 6 is where the foundation for Rick and Morty really becomes more obvious.
I think Rick and Morty had already started by this point?
Love the quick shifts in Annie's expressions at 6:02 lmao

Watching Blind Wave react to Community is like getting a crash course in palmistry...except with more laughs and less RV repair skills! 😄
Annie: Are you going to eat me first?
_This better not awaken anything in me_
The right choice in many ways
Annie's pretty young, we try not to sexualize her
Not sexualizing young women is an old women psyop
imagine if they did arrested development after community or something. That Would Be Sick!
I love season 6, it's the season I re-watch the most.
Aaron can't appreciate weirdness. He wants things to happen only the way he thinks they will.
it's true both in action, animation and comedy he likes it vanilla occasionally with some sprinkles but that's about it.
Show went downhill towards the tail end of Season 3 and never really recovered.
@@retrojohnny1899 Most shows are better in the middle than the end.
look at how he views no country for old men

Top 3 episode of community for me.
I didn't love this episode as a whole, but Abed's hand speech kind of saves it for me. Unfortunately, everyone always cuts it out :(
Extra Thick Straps has embedded itself into my brain permanently.
S6 is my favorite season, it's just a bunch of random shit that is perfect
This entire episode is justified to me by the end tag. Similar to how buying the hand is justified by owning the giant watch.

Season 6 definitely felt weird for me but it's funnier than I remember on this second watch
Abed flash point paradox episode
You like everything as it happens and then you say bad after..
This season is cool. Some great episodes. I don't really care for this episode though, except for that ending scene!
The lack of love for Space Elder Britta... smh.
Season 6 is not very appealing on your first watch but rewatching it makes it much better ….
I love Space Elder Britta
I feel like losing Chevy and Donald kinda balances itself out. Chevy was the worst and Donald is the best, so.
Dean :I’m a child
Annie :You’re Child abuser

I hated this episode when I first saw it so I get it for Aaron but it’s a good one to me now

I really don't like season 6. Few exceptions.
