- It may come as a surprise but one of us doesn't have a motorcycle license... Despite being a professional Motocross racer for 14 years, named the Monster Energy Supercross Rookie of the Year in 2015, being featured in countless of our own vlogs, owning multiple Harleys over the years, Cole never got around to getting his motorcycle license. So lance decided it was time to change that and forced Cole to go start the process and get his permit. Follow along to see if our boy passes the test after the 6th try!

Cole take the Harley MSF Course! Now that you have your permit, once you pass the class (which you would do with your eyes closed), you go to the DMV with the certificate of completion and you get your license. You won't have to take the DMV riding test!

In CA you used to be able to get your MC license at 15. Only good advice I ever got from my old man was "never let your motorcycle license expire."

How would it expire any different than your driving licenses? .. pay the fee.. bam, new one. I've had one for 15- 20 years.. no issues. And I deffinetly remember not being sold beer in that time because of a expired license.
@@dormantmenaceAny time you change states, add endorsements (class A, commercial, tanker, hazmat, doubles, renewal) they always say "does this look correct". I've seen the MC endorsement disappear (more than once) during the process and had it corrected before I walked out. MC license 40+ years.

Started on dirtbikes at age 4...rode my dirtbike all over town at 12 like a hooligan🤣 at 16 i got a sportster. Never got my bike license until 2 yrs ago at age 44. Rode all those years without it. I finally went n did my permiy/road test at dmv. Hardest part was shaking all the years of bad habits on my road test.
Originally from Cali, I took my motorcycle test in Wisconsin. Easiest place to get your permit & license. Riding 28° with wind chill.

Pennsylvania here, motorcycle test has 3 figure 8's, no slalom, and just a "go 30mph, start braking at thia line, stop before you get to this line" ... that figure 8 is definitely possible on a bagger but highly recommend using a small bike just to get it over with
I live in Virginia and didn't want to take the MSF course or spend the money, so I did it the "unconventional" way. I studied, unlike Cole lol, and went to the DMV and took the written exam, passed 100% the first time lol, so easy and held my permit for a year. I bought my friends 03 GSXR600 and rode solo and with them. Luckily, the local dmv shut down after covid and moved locations, but the course was still on the lot painted. So, I went there and practiced the 4 tests like every weekend. The four tests consited of of from a stop, making a left turn and staying within the lines and coming to a non skidding stop with your front tire in the box. The next test wasa two part test basically, so from a stop you weave through like 4 or 5 cones I believe, then a right turn and ending with a right hand u-turn, 500 and under has a smaller turning space than 600cc and above. The third test is quick stop from a steady speed of like 15mph and coming to a stop without skidding. Finally the last test is accelerating and maintaing like 15 mph and at a certain marker swerving left or right and coming to a stop. The tester thought I was a lil crazy for taking the tests on a sportbike like the 600, but I passed, just put my foot down once on the cone weave.

Now to make myself feel a bit older, I got my endorsement in Cali while stationed there in 1993. Took it on a KZ550 Zephyr. The turning radius was full lock to lock. I did not have a good time, but passed on my 2nd attempt at the course that day. That was also my first street bike. Best thing I ever did after that was take MSF courses every year for 4 years after. Also had to take it at least once to ride on base.

I missed that same question about following a car in front of you at night closer to use their headlights. I got my bike & permit during Covid, couldn’t make appointments at the dmv at that time. I had to go a few times on my day off to get in line at like 6am, shit sucked! Got the permit tho! I took the safety course to get my license, 2 day program about 6-7 hours each day. Saves me about $350 a year having that certification on insurance. That covered the cost of the class

This was so funny to see one of the best moto guys struggle to get his bike permit but was awesome to see Cole get it done ! Always look forward to Wednesday , also just kitted my 2020 road glide with the full Thrashin risers and bar setup and it absolutely made me love the bike even more . Thanks from down under 🇦🇺

That permit test is hard asf. I failed the first time and passed the second. The DMV is close to my house, so the other night I went to practice doing the circle. After about 2 mins, I realized that shit is damn near impossible on a street glide.
I dont know why it never clicked that that was Cole Seely......insane

I grew up down the street from that DMV. Got my license there at 16 and all. Pro tip: go to the Simi Valley DMV every time. It’s always less wait, nicer staff and all that jazz. Got my M1 in Simi and it was easy as pie.

I'm 47, owned 5 Harleys, 2 R1's, and tons of dirt bikes. Been riding for 35 years. Still need to get a riding permit let alone a motorcycle endorsement 😅😂 🤙

We need the cover Cole is putting together. The is so little room with my apex’s on and rubbing the heck out of that stock cover. I have been looking for extensions but with risers am already dragging the exhaust shield and I’m afraid with extensions I’ll be back to dragging the board. This would be a perfect solution and what I have been looking for. Get it out!!!

I got tagged in Florida for no MC Endorsement after I got hit by a car and police were called..LOLZ...luckily I wasnt injured but the cop STILL gave me a ticket even though he also gave the car driver a ticker for running into me. I ended up joining the USMC and took lollypop test in 29 Palms California in 1989 in order to be able to ride on base. After passing the test, I also had to do the MSF beginners course and the Experienced Riders course every 2 years in order to be allowed to ride on a military base. COngrats Cole!! The tests all have at least 8-10 questions that the answer is wrong unless you read the book...where there are multiple right answers, but they want the one from the book.

I took the CHP course 2 years ago and never had to even get my permit or do the lollipop course at the DMV. Just showed up for class, rode for 2 days, and got my endorsement. Lots of "dirty" riders (unlicensed), new riders, and people with dirtbike experience. I highly recommend it!
I got my first permit a couple of years ago, miss 3, back then I had them print it out on paper baby....... I told them computers make me nervous.... Here in California......

Got mine in Tennessee when I was 14 now I’m 69 1/2 still riding just got a new Road Glide CVO ST and I got a Street Glide that’s a Navy Seal paint job in remembrance of a local Seal Team 6 it’s bad ass steals the show every year in Sturgis. Love to watch you guys . Cole Sealy definitely a good pickup . Being a Harley dealer since 1955 I was 1 then I’ve seen a lot . Got Honda franchise in 1969 got my first Cr250 in 1973 And raced motocross till 1998 . I knew all the old mx riders then . My heroe was Marty Smith . Got to see Trans USA races in ST Louis Missouri. Watched the Russian team there and all other countries. What y’all got coming for the new Road Glide ST?
Permit, lol i did the same thing, tried to take the test without reading anything and I failed. Didn't want to try again till I read the DMV book. Then I got some tests on my phone which helped a lot and then I passed the second time. I've been to that Seafood place many years ago. Great place.

In Colorado you have to do the MFS course to get you license. They only do the road test at two dmvs in Colorado in like the remote areas.
Had the same things happen to me over here in Georgia over the 25 years of riding. Our drivers licence says recreational vehicle which is what usually a motorcycle is. Cops usually just give a ticket of what they pulled you over for here, but I've had my bike impounded once. Been pulled over by all of them, sheriff, police, gsp, marshall, ect. So for Cole, I feel your pain but reluctance to conform, cause the thought doesn't cross your mind until you get pulled over.

Usually the schools riding test is easier cause the obstacle has way more space and the Chp class get you a discount for your motorcycles insurance

I cannot believe Cole failed the test 5 times in a row. Passed on the first time. Got the book in the morning, studied it at work (don't employ me at Thrashin!), and took the test that lunch. Been riding dirt bikes when I was a teen from an XR75 to 125, but got my first road bike, a Heritage Softail, in my early 30s. Darn bike was a fat hog for the DMV course. The large front tire and fender made it impossible to see the lines. I called the MSF coordinator and left a message saying I was on vacation and ready to take the course. He called me later in the afternoon, and asked if I can attend the class starting that night and the weekends. Sure no problem. Showed up and the instructor asked everyone how long did they have to wait. All the replies were around 4 months. When he got to me, I told him that I signed up for the wait list today. I was the most hated student in the class by the looks of everyone. Passed the class and got my M1 the next business day. Been lane splitting, carpool lane riding for my commute ever since. Experienced the raging cagers that weave to cut me off, or open a door.

This is great. I blew up my cam bearing on gear drive and it destroyed my motor. Then I moved away and moved back and had to take my original state license again and flunked 2 times in a row

Took a riders course at Milwaukee Harley..passed. Took certificate given at Milwaukee HD to Wisconsin DMV and was given motorcycle endorsememt.
I used to get a learners motorcycle permit every 6 months. I never got my motorcycle license because my grandfather owned the Harley-Davidson dealership and I have dealer tags. I once tried to take the test in 1989 and failed it. I never have been legal.
Wow. In Denmark you need medical test, theory lessons and driving lessons and finally tests. Cost around $1500.
As much as I Know Cole can ride .. If he Biffs one of your Rides with No CA M3 You are on the Hook !! Just Saying .. Now he needs the MSF to get the Ins Lower .. Got mine on my 650 Bonneville at 15 1/2 in Daly City CA .. Ride On !!

Here in Michigan they call it a Motorcycle Endorsement. A 30 question written test and 5 minutes or less 5 minute skills riding test in a parking lot with a Private Testing CO ..
I'm a lot like these guys. I got my first Harley in 2008 and just took off riding. I've had about 15 different motorcycles since then just because I love getting new Harleys and trading. Now I've decided at 35 it's time to be a law abiding citizen and get my endorsement and I gotta do all this crap too. lol Fortunately in Arkansas it's a little less serious of a test, I hear.

I took the dmv skills course in Virginia, I took it on a Kawasaki z400 and it was really easy, cone weave, right turn to u turn, brake test and i was done, took like 5 min, def would’ve been a lot more difficult on my Harley
If you release the rear brake and your wheels aren’t aligned it’s possible to High side off the motorcycle as the rear tire regains traction. The recommendation for a rear wheel lockup is hold the brake unless you are sure the wheels are aligned.
I was watching this episode and seen the cam cover you guys made I have a suggestion make a chrome one and also anodized different colors the Chrome one would look sick on that bike

DMV personnel will not allow you to film the motorcycle driving portion. U’ll have to go stealth so we can see video of Cole testing😆 If he’s really worried, there’s usually other DMV’s that will let you practice their course outside business hours👍

@THRASHIN allot better then allot of people's I think we'll in northern Wisconsin anyways I don't take my hogs to a harley shop but have a bike shop that works on nothing but Harleys and I remember when I picked it up dude was super excited said he had to show everyone at the shop was the best they had seen there anyways lol

I have literally no clue how but honest to god I passed my driver license test and behind the wheel first try missed one of the trick questions. I passed my motorcycle test and behind the wheel first try with no studying and my class a written and behind the wheel with endorsements first try no studying lol maybe that’s the trick don’t study and use what you think the “safe” thing to do would be 🤣 I am definitely guilty of riding dirty for years too hahaha
FXDLI’s are the best dyna made. FXDXi’s are okay, they have a horrible tank tho.

In Florida the minute you get a motorcycle they (the state) check to see if you have a motorcycle license. If not you got like 30 days then they are coming after you.
