FINNALY!!! I've been looking for this game forever! Canadians don't realize they aren't unbeatable
Tyler Basel
Except when it counted about a week later 😆
Every team is beatable. Some less, some more. Team Canada is nearly unbeatable in the OG and World Cup.
@@trevorwilson5496 canada lost in olympic lmao🤣🤣
Ludicrous statement. Any team is beatable in any given game that's why the Olympic one-game system is so nail-biting. Look at the USA vs USSR in 1980 or Canada vs USSR in 1981. It only takes a couple bad decisions or a few bad plays to sink the boat. USSR head coach Tikhonov pulled Tretiak in 1980 and probably did so prematurely and upset his team. At the same time, Bowman put in Mike Liut against the USSR in 1981 when he should have put Edwards in as Edwards was far better in that tournament.
@@SaiputeraNo they didn’t lmao. They beat USA in the finals.
Rafalski was a beast. Miller great saves. just wish this was the gold medal game. oh well.
We would’ve scored the overtime goal in the gold medal game to complete the comeback and finish undefeated in that olympic tournament, if John Tortorella had been the head coach, instead of Ron Wilson. In my opinion, Torts would’ve had his team playing on fire. I know this based on how Herb Brooks did this in 1980.
I remember watching this game live and thinking that this was the greatest hockey game I'd ever watched.
dback139 watching this from my tv at home and thought that this was the greatest hockey game I’d ever watched. :D
What about Canada vs. Russia in 1/4 final ?
I felt kinda sick watching this game, it was so close to call. The ending was brilliant. Storybook finish.
This game means a lot to me, this very game made me a hockey fan, and a big one at that. I'm American, and if USA hadn't won, I probably wouldn't be such a big hockey fan, and I would be missing out on such a great game. So uhh, thanks Canada!
This game made me fall in love with hockey, I was 10. What a special win
Man Rafalski had a great game. I'm a Flyers fan but I still miss watching him play in the NHL.
I loved the pressure Team Canada put on in the end. That was prob the best I've ever seen. But that was also great D by Team USA to not allow the tying goal. Hockey at its finest
I remember watching this game in the cafeteria of my college in Massachusetts. Literally the whole place jumped around and we lost our shit when Kesler scored. North America owns everyone else at hockey. Best rivalry in hockey bar none is USA and Canada.
Messier90
Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czechoslovakia are all better than USA at ice hockey.
Ice Hockey*
@@michaelfusmusic9447 Soviet Union is also better than USA
Rikistoteles
Yes.
No they are not so fuck off...
I remember watching the final moments of this match on TV 6 years ago. Literally jumped out of my seat when the score said US beat Canada 5-3.
If only this was the gold medal game 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
As a Canadian it’s beautiful having our brothers in stars to back us up if it isn’t Canada we cheer for the states!
Nah, can't stand the insufferable americans. I cheer for the Swedes if Canada goes out.
People saying hockey is Canada's game right but now more kids play soccer than hockey in Canada and every year more and more Americans are joining hockey every year.
Daniel Puckoff The USA is better than Sweden they have played great in the last 2 Olympics until they played the best team Canada who they played as equal but Canada just came out ahead.
o D a n i e l At World Championships Sweden is better because the USA is missing a lot more players than Sweden. But at the Olympics I think the USA is better now but it is close
o D a n i e l Okay yeah they are missing some of their best but a lot also do go and play for them, and they also have some of their best players in Europe ready for the Worlds unlike USA and Canada. For the Olympics I know they're historically more decorated but look at this Olympics results they beat Czech by 2 we won by 4, and they lost to Canada by 3 we lost by 1 and I know what happened against Finland but that game really didn't matter to us after losing to Canada again under 24 hours before. Also the 2006 tournament doesn't really show how good they are now considering how many of their players from 2006 are already gone.
US and Canada played twice in the Olympics. Once in the preliminary round where USA won, and once in the Gold medal game where Canada wone.
kesler was unreal this game
yeah thanks man...People say how much they hate Tortsy cuz of his interviews but hes still a good coach and has a cup under his belt..and yeah i know im glad avery is done
for those that think canada is that much ahead of the US in hockey, just a reminder that we have Quick and Schneider and Miller in goal, and you guys have Fatso, Luongo, and Fleury. advantage USA.
One gold medal btw was as the BACKUP TO ROBERTO LUONGO. brodeur didnt play in the gold medal game (or any other game after his outing vs. the USA in the prelim round). And the stanley cup hasn't been won by a canadian team since 1993 when the habs beat the kings.
Is there a version with Doc Emrick’s pbp? I had it on my TiVo for years. Incredible stuff at the end.
love those team usa jerseys
dandandamattressman a nod to the 1960 Team that won Gold
BEST GAME OLYMPICS 2010
whats the name of the rock song in the begining around 6:00
Fuck shit!! It’s here! Finally!!!!! You can’t recognize how long I’ve been looking for this game from internet!!!!! You know, I’m from Finland and always supportin’ finnish national team but that game at those olympics.......been playing and watching hockey over 20 years and have to say, I have ever seen game like that, that is easily the best hockey match ever, best through the history. Rafalski was fucking god
Is there any video with commentary
5 years late but ruclips.net/video/WYqxEb1stPg/видео.html
@@InfiniteHorizons I appreciate the 5 year late comment
@@StonedSpagooter No problem lol
@@InfiniteHorizons wrong game
@@wildcatmateo Oh sorry lol
i would say hes had 3 good seasons (2010 he won 39 games, 2011 he carried the team when kopitar shattered his ankle, 2012 he should have won conn smythe). your argument of fleury is just as ridiculous (hes been fortunate to have an unbelievabe offense the last 5 years) because if the kings had fleury they would have missed the playoffs
your point on fleury is just wrong. have you seen him play the last two years? jesus! the goals he gives up. brodeur meanwhile wasnt the number one for canada in the 2010 olympics, but the number one (luongo) might not be back either. price is an option and the nhl "experts" on nhl.com and espn have said that the US is much deeper in goal than canada is
Can't believe USA actually won this game.
The number of people in this game who played for the Ducks or Devils is pretty high lol
It has to be said that Canada is better then the USA in hockey but we also have to realize in the last 5 years USA has played Canada as equals all 3 time even winning one which is a great achievement. Hopefully we finally beat them in a knockout game in the 2016 world cup.
Not just sports, ANYTHING! When you combine anything to measure both country's they are both GREAT. Both country's are awesome places to live and North America is something to be happy of.
Where is the commentary at?
I play field hockey (not a womans sport in the UK) but I always wanted to try this. However the nearest rink is in Telford and my parents don't have a car. I am satisfied with field hockey (also known as "hockey" here) but I want to try this as it seems interesting too.
i have heard of subban. i think hes another bernier (very talented but not yet ready)
I live in the USA and i play hockey. I wish hockey was as popular in the US as it is in Canada, but the matter of fact is that it is not. If you polled everyone in America and asked them if they knew who Sidney Crosby or Alex Ovechkin was, maybe 1/10 people would know them, compared to like 10/10 in Canada...
but congrats on the big win though...
Hockey is popular in parts of the USA like the east coast and the Midwest
yeah true
You people never cease to amaze me on how much you can argue. Its getting ridiculous.
Canada was more dominant in this game than in the gold medal game.
great games between these two.... one question.... where is doc, enzo and pierre?
Avery retired, we traded dubinsky, and del zotto isnt cheap and MDZ is only 21
and yes canada did beat us later on your soil but you have to admit, you guys werent used to losing so you guys got chippy, just look at pronger. but yeah it was well deserved for both teams
A win is a win. Even if you win by 20 goals or 1 goal.
whats wrong with boston, they won the cup (with an american goalie no less). but bernier when he gets traded will be a stud. the kings will still get a ton in return.
@nikebauer1993 ok... well, I do agree. But as a coach, you'd definitely want to try out both goalies and see who you should put, that you believe will be better for the team. Mike Babcock put Luongo in net against first game 1 against norway and he was fine, and then brodeur against Switzerland and from that on, brodeur then shown why Luongo should start in net after 2 more games.
we may not have the offensive or defensive depth that is true. name one expert who would take fleury over quick. if quick had the same numbers he had with the kings on that penguins team, he would have had 45 wins.
@nikebauer1993 Toews however is more of a defensive forward like Mike Richard.
the penguins also were near the top in scoring too whereas the kings were dead last. canada will probably outplay the us everytime (they did in both games yet still came out 1-1) but the US goaltending will give them a chance.
Hot goaly ... But in the final he was beaten!!!😃😄
I miss the commentators.
can you do this for womens hockey too? thank you
even tho I no who wins, its for fun.
sorry everyone, the USA deserved to win that game, they were a better team.
Why is there no commentary
Quantity of shots doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't score now does it?
Het I'm a American but i love team canada hockey team and they so deserved to win the us did come close so close they had to go into overtime but team canada really did deserve to win and i cant stand how in the olympics it only shows what the us is competing in and it doesnt show anybody else
@nikebauer1993 well, Switzerlands got pretty solid defense and Jonas Hiller was on top of his game, thats why both US and Canada had trouble scoring. Well, Babcock like each line doing their own things like the Nash-Toews-Richard line would consider to be the shutdown line, I don't think Iginla works well with Toews LOL.
5 players from this game are retired. 6, but pronger hasn't officially retired.
This was the dark night of the soul for Canada. The dark before the dawn of Luongo.
Luongo, home ice, and the referees.
Though I am American and cheer for the US National Team, almost all of my favorite hockey players (Toews, Thornton, Couture) are Canadians with the exception of Joe Pavelski. So I'm always happy to see Canada kicking ass at the Olympics. I don't get this whole stupid nationalism argument over the internet.
Sad it’s been 14 years
ummm canada is also good at curling, ice fishing and beer drinking. please take it back that canada is only good at hockey:)
I'm talking 2014 guys. Not history but this team and this Olympics.
I'm going to have to disagree with you. Age does not always equal experience and many of those younger players you mentioned played in big games before this. Syndey, Getzlaf, Fleury, Staal, and Perry all had won the Stanley Cup and Richards won the Calder Cup and started in many NHL playoff games before the 2010 Winter Olympics. Also, there were many seasoned vets like Pronger, Iginla, Brodeur, Heatley, Marleau, Niedermeyer, Boyle, Luongo, Morrow, and Thorton on Team Canada to add experience.
I don't know about the anti American and anti Canadian sentiments on here, all I know is this was a damn good game on both sides. I play hockey and have met quite a few Canadians. They're all right by me. I actually hope to visit Canada someday. just a friendly comment...
@TheWolves81 Yeah Right we have the BEST HOCKEY PLAYERS IN THE WORLD
Well at least Americans can play all sports well. Not just a couple.
lol! jealous much!
THE BEST GOAL IN HOCKEY HISTORY CROSBY
Actually, it's a very big stat. Because if you have a higher population, you can generate more athletes, and have a better chance at more medals. That's why USA/China always has the most medals. Because they can send the most athletes.
USA = 300 million people / 37 medals = 8.1 million people per medal
Canada = 30 million people / 26 medals = 1.1 million people per medal
And, the best, as one Finn politely pointed out to me, was Finland, with 300,000 people per medal.
Where is the commentary ?
This is the official Olympic channel, so no national broadcast like NBC or RDS or CTV is allowed.
i was at this game
@DEhockey75
U2 Vertigo
"Tremendously tremendous"
This is truly the greatest hockey rivalry ever. The States have great team work and passion. Sure it sucks to lose but it is nice to have a challenge. Canada is the best in hockey and I am very proud of that. Too bad both Canadians and Americans make this a nationalist battle. If only it would be the North American Vs the World Allstars battle again. Canada and the US do well on their own. Think about the ferocity they would have if they all played together. It would certainly be an epic game!
Exactly !!
Hmmm last time I checked they did win this game... And also tied the gold medal game with 32 seconds left. I don't remember Canada tieing this game? All I remember is the greatest empty net goal ever.
@nikebauer1993 First off, I didn't say Canada destroyed the U.S.... I'm saying, if it wasn't for this loss, Canada would have stuck with the same lineups and same goaliee.. obviously Broduer was the problem for us, as well as the chemistry issue with the players, it took this loss for our team to make the necessary changes to the lineups and goalies which eventually paid off!!
i knw right?! and yeah i am so happy Avery is gone, totally agree. and good!
And maybe if All Americans had an ice rink in their backyards history would be a little different.
A lot of people, actually. When you send more athletes you have a better chance at more medals. Simple math. If the Americans send 1/10 of the athletes they did to these olympics, would they still win 37 medals? Maybe, but they'd have to work MUCH HARDER for it.
Классика мирового хоккея
I miss having him on the Devils
They outshot the USA 39-36 in the gold medal game. Its was pretty even. Even in this game a lot of the 45 shots were grade A chances. Outhitting a team means nothing.
You should look at basketball golds then.
In the gold medal game.
Why does martin brodeur have a USA hockey stick? look at 19:10 lol
Haha, the Americans winning this game just led to their own downfall!! Thank you U.S.A!!
If Canada is so good then what happened in 1998 and 2006?
how well did canada do in 1998 or 2002? well in 98 we finished fourth and in 02 we killed the americans in the gold medal game 5-2. not 8th.
5-2 is being “killed”....🤔
Canada has a better hockey team than the USA but the gap is closing.
Ooops 24 seconds left *
USA went 1-1 vs Canada in that Olympics..
L.O.L....I hope you're joking here. For starters, Canada is a winter country, and we won 14 gold last winter olympics. Thats the highest in olympic history fyi. Also, USA has about 10x the population of Canada but only around 6x the amount of total olympic medals accumulated before London 2012. You know what that means? USA is performing worse per capita than the "athletically challenged" Canada. How could you possibly down Canada when your main winning factor over us is population?
umad
quick had a 1.95 gaa.
well look at you lolololololololol
I totally agree. Canada is the best at hockey. It means nothing. Why? Because it the only sport Canadians are good at. Its easy to be great at one sport if you put so much effort into it and ignore other sports, so I cant give you that much credit. Dont be jealous that Canada is athletically challenged compared to the US!
They tied it with 24 secs left. Did Canada do that in this game? No. Thank you Kesler. Either way the 2 country's are equal at hockey simple as that.
North America is equal. End of story. The only problem I have is neither country wanting to teacher about either country which just embraces more stereotypes. Here in NS man some people are harsh to the USA even tho they have never been there.
Good comment. Canadians are pretty closed-minded about the US. And no little about it.
ok fine...i dont like his style of play
dont -try to play canadians hockey-we are to damn good
You couldnt be more wrong. Just Stop Canada won., but the way USA is going it wont be too long till we eclipse Canada with the stars like Kane, ect. Bigger Population and game becoming more popular is bad for Canada.
kesler was a fucking monster in this game
Yes he was. Too bad the WCOH was formatted with the NA Team as it robbed the US of guys like Matthews, Gaudreau, Eichel, Larkin, Saad, Jones and Trouba.
Also cant believe Kessel, Kreider and Johnson weren't there.
Thаt team USA had to won gold medal
ha canada loses to the US again just like the world juniors. Canada is starting to lose in the only sport they are really good in. Come on canada!!!!!!!!!
You do realize Canada still has the most World Junior gold medals. Literally Canada has 5 times the amount of golds USA has. 5 of them were consecutive in fact. Most players in the NHL are Canadian, and most con smythe trophies have been won by Canadians. Canada also has the most olympic gold medals, again more than triple USAs. 2 of the last 3 winter olympics have been golds for Canada, all 3 have been gold for the women, and since 2000 Canada has won the world juniors 5 times in a row as I said.... so no, Canada is NOT 'starting to lose'. You realize even in this tournament this game was part of Canada ended up winning right?
Quole1234 Actually they had 2 consecutive 5 year gold winning streaks in the juniors. Whats funny is that USA only has 3 total.
Quole1234 Vous êtes tout à fait raison quole 1234 En fait, le Canada a gagné 3-2 hier chez les juniors et ils ont gagné la médaille d'or aux Jeux olympiques de 2010.
i meant they are starting to lose. in the last 4
years no gold medal.
and no canadian team wins the stanley cup.
