Your Cinelli track bike is gorgeous. 02:06 You look beautiful in the intro, and your hair looks fantastic. 🔥 Loved the video rolling into and around the city. 👌
Well done Amy great ride , lovely weather hopefully we will see some decent weather soon. I know how you feel not being able to get on the bike, I have the same problem but mine is my back, enjoy the rest of your weekend
Thank you Terry. Sorry to hear about your back, I hope it eases up soon. We will not take the freedom of movement for granted after these setbacks will we x
I am so tempted to get a fixed gear bike, it looks like you are having such a blast. But having got into cycling as a a somewhat more vintage fella, I am concerned that I won' pick it up and will continually stop peddling!!
It’s pretty tough on the knees but SO fun! One of my friends did stop pedalling and went over the handlebars and broke his back, it’s not an unfounded concern! But mostly it’s fun, especially doing skidzzzzz
@@amerridesbikes So, since this video I have been trawling fixed gear bikes on FB Marketplace, and I ACTUALLY BOUGHT ONE!!!! I took my first (ever) uber slow and timid fixie ride, and although it was slow, it was so much fun. I hope you don't mind, but I will put out a video shortly and give you a little shout out for the inspiration.
Hate to say it, but that bridge you said was London Bridge was actually Southwark Bridge 😆 Looked a fun ride, got me missing long days and warm weather. On the RLJ, Sunday in central London is generally about the most reasonable time to do it...
Darn it, I knew somebody would bust me on that one 🤫😆 I edited out the bit with the Southwark sign on it that I clearly didn’t see at the time then got it all wrong talking 🙈 haha. I CANNOT WAIT for more warm weather and city rides. Sunday is about the only time for a London ride, agreed 😊
Yesss hope you have a great time. It really is a great way to ride. Bit sad the terrain where I live doesn’t really suit riding fixed as it’s so fun! Thank you so much for your support, means a lot 🫶🏼
@amerridesbikes No yard sales or bailouts! No ambulance ride! It was a lot of fun, and completely different from riding with a freehub, although there was once when I was on the verge of panic... Enjoy your new week Amy, and THANK YOU for all you do!
Bring back the summer! Yep, defensive rider here too. Stick to the rules, keep myself safe, don’t piss people off. Not foolproof and each to their own, but it’s how I feel comfortable.
These are words to live by 🙌🏼 Avoiding danger is a priority there’s already too many people taking liberties with our wellbeing. Come onnnn summer! 😊 ☀️ 🤞🏼
Well I was riding around London on Saturday for a Easter charity event called the bunny 🐰 hop on a bmx & it was freezing 🥶 wish the weather was like what you had 😂
in the usa stopping on red lights/stop signs is governed by the state not Feds. In my state/city, as long as one slow down long enough to touch the pavement with a foot, check for traffic then continue if clear.
Ah so those are the rules. I’ve only ridden in New York on your side of the pond and learned my street etiquette from messengers. Haven’t been arrested for running a red there yet but we’ll see … 🫣😬
I’m not capable enough for brakeless riding, but a lot of others do seem to think they are you’re right. You’re not old, you just have more life experience 😎
So fun, I am looking forward to cycling in London on my road bike in some better weather Did you take the train up from Cornwall? Trains from here in Exeter tend to say bike spaces booked already
I tend to drive as it’s sadly a) so much cheaper at £175 return and b) trains in Cornwall are becoming borderline mythical creatures. Plus even when you book a bike space they aren’t always guaranteed when you get there (two per train is frankly ridiculous). I am taking my. Ike to Leeds on the train next month though, wish me luck!
@@amerridesbikes Fair enough, trains are quickly becoming hit or miss although the main Exeter-Paddington has been almost 100% reliable for me Where do you park up? Best of luck!
@@ClarkDroneFilms my sister lives in zone 4 so I park at her house and stay there. It’s a good ride into the city from there :) Trains here have been mostly rail replacement buses in Cornwall. Sounds like living upcountry in Exeter is much better!
Red lights: We have lights that only change if they detect a car waiting. If it's just a cycle, they'll NEVER change. So yeah, in those cases, I just look and go.
This is so true! There are some special cycling ones here that still don’t have motion sensors capable of picking up a cyclist so I end up having to press the pedestrian button and crossing on red! A good point well made 🙌🏼
As a London cyclist, I'm gonna say that if it's clear, as in no oncoming traffic or pedestrians crossing, then it's safer and sensible to crawl through a red light. There's been too many cases of cyclists dying at red lights, especially in central London. Even had a case a couple of years ago when the police were instructing cyclists to ignore the red lights along The Mall due to roadworks closing the road to motorised traffic. Naturally, the Daily Mail didn't see it that way and were running stories about cyclists blowing red lights outside Buckingham Palace 🤦🏿🤦🏿
There definitely are times when it is safer as a cyclist to go through on red. Particularly junctions with crazy left turns where cyclists have to wait on the left, if I’m not mistaken. The Daily hate Mail love to paint all cyclists (and women, and many other communities) in poor light but that’s pretty outrageous isn’t it. One day we will get that ride in Merv and you can show me around properly 🤗🙌🏼
No its never all right to blow a red light. In an ideal world it would be fine if the road is totally clear, But in this world you need to be aware of metal box dwellers who get angry and drive more aggressively. They may noy hit you but they could hit someone else or contribute to the anti cyclist rhetoric that puts us all in danger. Think of the cycling community and stand at the lights for a minute or two.
There genuinely are instances when it is safer to cross on red on a bicycle. I drive 20,000 miles a year all over the country and I ride a motorbike so I am familiar with how ignorant and aggressive the “metal box dwellers” are. I personally have mostly stopped road cycling as the standards of driving and unnecessary aggression is frightening and too many take liberties with my life. There are some incredibly thoughtless cyclists that give us all a bad name, not going to deny that. It’s a very delicate situation but the privilege and entitlement of road users on both sides can be quite astounding
As an avid cyclist doing over 2000 miles away on my bikes, why do vloggers always hold them the camera? It isn’t safe, potentially an offence if you have a snobby copper, and you can get camera mounts .. itchy Boots does it, why can’t cyclists…
Thanks for sharing your opinions comparing cycling to motorcycling 🤷🏼♀️ Why don’t you start your own channel, see how you get on vlogging using such a camera mount technique and tell aaaaaall of us cyclists how you think it should be done, from your experience?
Forget red lights, whats more worrying is that youre riding around 1 handed and talking to a camera.very dangerous in my opinion.but then these days noone sees what they do as wrong until.....
Some amazing footage. Really good film. The closing shot was brilliant. Thank you😊
Thank you so much Chas 🙏🏼 I enjoyed the ride 🙂
Wish we had that weather in London right now - hard to imagine after all this wet & cold rubbish!!!! Hope you’re healing fast and out again soon! ❤❤❤
