About forty years ago, while working as housekeeper in a nursing home, I was taught to always flush first, then use a Johnny mop to gently and quickly plunge and lower the water level in the toilet so I could effectively apply a measured amount of bowl cleaner, let that sit and work on any stains while I removed bathroom trash, replaced toilet paper/ towels, cleaned/disinfected the sink and mirror, then the outside/back/ sides of the toilet, then back to cleaning the actual toilet bowl, flush one more and boom, I was done except for sweeping and mopping the floor on my way out. Cleaned some very explosively soiled toilets and bathrooms in my day🙃. We used soft nylon long handled brushes on any stubborn residues. @J Archa You must have been taught by Don Aslett? He is the first place I heard the word Johnny mop. So glad I can switch to bar keepers friend. Merry Christmas.
By putting the Johnny mop in the dirty, soiled toilet ( to use as a plunger to lower the water level), if you then later used that same mop to mop the floors you were smearing poop around on the floors. This is very unsanitary. Mops that are going to be used to mop the floors shouldn’t be used in toilets whether they are soiled or not.
Thanks for sharing. I've been trying to think of ways to lower the water in the public restrooms I clean. I do place towels over the censors so they don't flush while I work.
Vinegar soaked tissues tucked up under the lip will also remove minerals and bacteria. Leave it for at least an hour or overnight and then you can flush. There are skinny long handled cleaning brushes that work very well under the lip. After flushing the vinegar tissue away you can brush and it's amazing how much mildew and rust flow away.
Great tip. Thanks for sharing. This makes sense because vinegar is a 2.5 on the pH scale so as an acid I can imagine the cleaning power a soaked tissue would have. 👍
I did that. The dark mineral deposits came off, but I think the vinegar dripped down and damaged the porcelain finish of the toilet bowl. It doesn’t look as shiny, doesn’t feel slick like the outside, and water seems to stick to it.
Thank you! It works!!! I never heard of barkeepers friend cleaner until I saw your vid today. Found it at Walmart. We have a stain on the inside rim of a toilet bowl-I've used Comet, and Comet with bleach and the stain remained. I used the bartenders friend and the stain is GONE!!! Thank you!!!
Glad I could help! I'm glad to know that it worked for you. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for watching the video, I appreciate it!
I don't know why....but this was SO SATISFYING to watch! I LOVE the process of cleaning....just watching dirty and messy becoming sparkling clean! Love BKF!!!
I have loved BKF since I learned about it a few years ago. I keep both the liquid and powder forms depending on my needs. One of my best friends since we were babies and shared a crib and playpen in Sunday School told me about it to clean my range and oven. Sold! You are so talented! You make it all look so easy and quick. I look at housework and feel anxious and overwhelmed.
I've always found that even generic dishwashing powder for dishwashers works best for bathrooms toilets showers tubs sprinkle it in and then use a regular broom to sweep it in or rotate this will make your grout look brand new it'll also make your tub and shower look brand new works great for toilet bowls as well. And works great for tile floors.
This was a life saver and sooo cheap!! I've used this stuff forever but never in my toilet and never read the label stating that it removes rust!! I almost tried another method but this was so much easier and I already had some!! It cleaned it to look like new!! PS I didn't worry about shutting the water off to the toilet, it cleaned fine with water still in toilet!! When I was done I used it on my shower and it worked like a charm there as well! Save yourself some hassle, and money just get this stuff its amazing for all kinds of metals as well, copper and stainless steel as well I've also used the liquid kind too but prefer the cleanser.
I remember on the FB forum someone asking how to access the product after she bought Bar Keeper Friend. Everyone was helpful to tell her to peel the sticker off the top of the can! If you don't know, you don't know. It gave me a laugh, having grown up with powdered cleansers.
I always leave the sticker on, but use scissors to cut off part so only a couple holes are open. Much easier to get right portion--keeps excess amount from being used when not needed. saves $$$$$
I use the toilet brush to bring down the water level in the toilet. Do it that same was as you did with the plunger, only with more "plunges." It seems to work a little faster.
Yes, in customers' homes, there is not always the luxury of a bucket nearby. But if there was - that is a great way to go. Thanks for recommending this. 👍👍👍
I have 2 great big water pictures. I use one of those for the bathrooms. It holds several quarts of water when full and has a handle for pouring. It works great if you have one that big.
Thank you! You helped me solve a bad soap scum problem that a senior friend had at his house. I did the vinegar/Dawn dish soap and the Bar Keeper Friend. Followed up with my steam cleaner. He's very happy 😊.
I cleaned a house with a very similar ring. I tried multiple cleaners on it. After the 10th cleaning, I went to the Barkeeper's friend cleanser. It did the job. It's my go to solution now for toilet cleaning.
Thanks for the reminder. I'm pretty sure that by touching all the cleaning supplies in my caddy they will be contaminated by the end of any job. We do have a paid training course on how to clean and sanitize the supplies and equipment between jobs to prevent cross contamination from home to home. savvycleaner.com/equipment-cleaning/
I cleaned houses professionally too and believe me when I tell you that nothing is better at cleaning ring stains on porcelain than rubbing the ring with a PUMMIS stone. It will not scratch the porcelain at all and you can rub quite hard. Try it. I’ll be shocked!
I've been using pumice for 20 years. Never a problem if used properly. Make sure to pre soak in the toilet for a couple of mins then scrub scrub dip, scrub scrub dip.etc. Pumie brand from Walmart cos it's cheapest there. I use bkf for maintenance but still need pumice every month or 2 in hard water areas. It will take off more than bkf.
@@RamonaAnne I love blue dawn. Especially with marble and other stone finishes that can be ruined with things like vinegar or strong cleaning products.
Love this stuff since discovering it. Clean glass top stoves, scratched a floor tile moving your fridge? Use this to remove worn metal from appliance legs, burnt on carbon in pans - carbon steel/enameled cast iron/stainless doesnt matter but dry carbon steel pans immediately after as they react & rust otherwise. Haven't tried it on toilets though.
I have recently discovered Barkeeper's Friend, and it is completely worth the few extra cents it costs over Comet (previous best). And, I use it to clean my toilets. (Conventional toilet cleaners are almost ineffective when you have well water!) Thanks to thumis video info, I will start using the rubber gloves & the 'scrubber'!
I've used a regular cleaner and drywall sanding screen, essentially a light pumice, with fantastic results on an older home. I'll be using bar keepers friend periodically on maintenance rotation with Oak & Willow's toilet pods!
I also use the drywall sanding screen for toilets.Thats a little secret not many know about.I learned that trick years ago when I worked for a cleaning company!!
@@judys5767 Yes, I've resorted to using it; wet it's not so bad, but dry it scratches worse. Still didn't get my toilet clean of iron stain. Nothing has and I think it has caused more staining. My plumber recommended a pumice stone. Not so sure it's the answer.
Barkeeper's friend is a good product, I'll use a little bit of comet first to clean the germs, and then follow it up with the pumice stone. I get them at home Depot (use the one that's got a finer grit). Wear a pair of rubber gloves while cleaning. I do that about once a month and it keeps the toilet ring free. I think the pumice stone is better for the environment too.
The pumice stone does work - that is true, and you need a very gentle touch when using one. For this reason, we don't allow our professional cleaners to use it, because they are usually barreling through a house at maximum efficiency speed. Too much pressure scrubbing a pumice stone (which is in fact a stone) against a porcelain coating can scratch the coating right off the inside bowl of the toilet leaving the ring area bare ceramic. The next time anyone uses a liquid bowl cleaner it permanently stains the toilet ring area (blueish).
I doubt any homeowner would agree to your using a pumice stone on their toilet. I had a housecleaner for a short time, and told her to use only my cleaning products, cloths, etc. She scratched my bathtub faucet and I couldn’t fathom how. Well, I found a small piece of steel wool she brought and stashed in my laundry closet. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid. I didn’t want anything abrasive used in my home.
I used it on the hard water and soap scum build up in my shower that hadn't been cleaned in years and it cleaned everything in minutes. I did spray vinegar on the walls first and while they were damp, then scrubbed with BKF Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner. Great product. Made from beets.
Did you disinfect the Bar Keepers Friend container and where it sat in your bag later? You switched hands with dirty gloves on. Small things like this and my ocd about cross contamination is what holds me back in hiring a cleaner.
Good catch. No. During a cleaning job we touch all of our cleaning supplies and our cleaning caddy handle. The cleaning supplies are sanitized between each job so it doesn't cross contaminate between homes. You can learn more about it in this course in our library. Learn more here: savvycleaner.com/equipment-cleaning/
Another great reason to use the powdered cleanser in the toilet. If it gets on a stone floor, it can be swept up without harming the stone. Thanks for bringing this up.
Was going to ask about this just before you posted it here. Unsightly "rust" ring remains after two applications (maybe because it's been there so long) but will try a third time. Results still better than previous attempts at removal. Always wanted to try this product anyway.
Create a Bar Keepers Friend paste and let it sit for 2 minutes. That usually breaks down the rust, lime or hard water stains. And you will need a scrubby to scrub the ring area. The toilet brush isn't as firm as a scrubby in my opinion. Let me know how it goes for you. I'm eager to hear your results.
@@cynthiakeller5954 Not completely even after leaving paste on over 15 minutes at the risk of pitting. Ring's a lot less visible than before though. It's a lesson on not remedying issues sooner.
BKF will also rejuvenate aluminum that you accidently put in the dishwasher. Those nice aluminum ice cream scoops - that aren't supposed to go in the dishwasher because they turn black can be fully restored with BKF and a scotch pad. I love BKF!
Great idea, however, I do encourage people to try not using aluminum for anything you may put in mouth or on your body. Aluminum is a heavy metal. It stores in fat cells. The brain is 60% fat. Aluminum in our system has been proven to contribute to alzheimers. It can b found in antacids, deoderant, tooth paste & as it's a Great heat conductor, pots & pans & inner parts of espresso machines etc. If I'm covering something with foil,I put a layer of parchment between 1st. If you've ever covered say a lasagna or any acid based food w aluminum,or left an aluminum utensil or pan soaking, that pitting you see after is the metal leaching into your food,or breaking down... caution Be Well
We usually ask the customer where they want us to start if they are home so we don't interfere with their morning routine. If they are not at home we usually start in the same room and work our way around the house in a pattern that makes sense for the priorities and the time allotted for the job. There is more than one right room to start in.
Thank you thank you thank you, and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year! This method worked quickly and perfectly! I had the liquid form of BKF on hand. I'm 67 with a lot of medical problems so I really appreciated this video. I've tried all types of cleaners over the years but could never get rid of the rings no matter how hard I scrubbed. I'm getting rid of my Bon Ami cleanser, toilet bowl cleaner, Lime Away, and the annoying ineffective toilet bowl brush! I'll just use a little dish wand with BKF on it for maintenance cleaning (along with disinfectant spray). 👍
Thanks but my stains are below the water line. I have tried everything. How do I drain out the water? I am afraid to turn knobs after reading comments.
I use bar keepers too. Then plunger and dry the bowl and apply a coating of NuFinish car polish. I use it on my porcelain sinks and quartz countertops too. Buff off obviously
Great informative video, thank you! I would suggest using drywall screen instead of the sponge. You can rinse it off and use it again. It's not absorbent like a sponge.
@@ameliadavis1979 what's the difference from a toilet bowl brush? I can clean a drywall screen much better and it doesn't hang out by my toilet. I think it's much cleaner.
Bar Keeper's friend? I've seen that cleanser at the Walmart here, getting it and cleaning the grunge in the toilet, WOW that toilet bowl was squeaky clean after you finished cleaning it Angela! 😊👍
It might work for light to medium stains but for heavy rust stains, you might want to consider using a specialized rust remover or a toilet bowl cleaner specifically designed to tackle rust.
The powder cleaner doesn't leave stains on the floors if it spills like regular toilet bowl cleaner can do if it leaks in your caddy, or gets carried across a carpeted floor. It's much safer than some liquid acids.
If there is no calcium ring in my toilets, I will just use soap. I believe it keeps the bacteria from developing resistance to some of these harsher chemicals unnecessarily. The toilet in her example though, did require some abrasion and stain removal chemicals.
I always close the lid before flushing. I once rented where the pipe and tank buildup made it impossible to remove all the minerals and stains. I dealt with until the move.I was wondering if replacing the tank would have helped.
@@AskAngelaBrown I was afraid to lift the heavy lid to the tank. I'm so glad I then bought a house with a brand new commode!! Cleaning it is easy-peasy.
Ever hear of Shaws pads. I don't want to bust anybody's bubble, but spray any old bathroom cleaner. Use a Shaws pad and sand it right off. It's done fast. Was designed by a plumber. It's great on thick burnt greasy stuck on pots and pans in no time and no scratches. True Value and Amazon has them.
@@AskAngelaBrown They have different names. There is a little variety. Here's one: Toilet Ring Remover - Environmentally Friendly Cleaner Pads for Use on Porcelain Toilets, Ceramic Tiles, Sinks and More. Just type shaw pads in Amazon. They seem a little expensive. I cut them in half and reuse one 20 times. I'm economical. After a few years I would feel something needed in my home is missing if I didn't have them on hand.
Great question. Ajax Powdered cleanser and Comet have pH balances in the 10 to 10.5 range. The Bar Keepers Friend powdered cleanser is a 1.5 - 2.5 on the pH scale putting it more in line with a toilet bowl cleaner that has the power to clean out heavy duty or (deep cleaning) gunk. All would work in a toilet (because of the porcelain coating) but the Ajax and Comet may not remove all the traces of the toilet bowl ring and may need to done a second or third time plus a lot of elbow grease.
Any grocery seems to carry it. It removes mineral build up like Lime Away so don't use on granite or marble because you will get etching. But it is a treasure for removing minerals and rust.
Personally I have never had good success with Bar Keepers Friend removing stains. It is a good surfactant, meaning it removes soil, but not stains. No matter how hard I scrub, or how long I let it set. Or how many repeat applications. I have high mineral water, and the toilet rings are almost ever present. Pumice will take it off, as will a scotch brite pad (the green one-NOT the sponge.) But pumice also etches the finish so makes stain removal harder in the future. So what am I doing wrong?
There are a few things that could be contributing to your difficulty in removing stains with Bar Keepers Friend. One possibility is that the type of stain you are trying to remove is not responsive to the cleaning agents in Bar Keepers Friend. Different cleaning products are formulated to address specific types of stains, and it's possible that the product you are using is not well-suited to the stains you are trying to remove. And like you said, a pumice stone can remove the rings but will etch the finish. So I'm wondering if that is what has happened in this case. If the porcelain or ceramic coating in a toilet has been removed with a pumice stone - any colored solution can leave a permanent stain around the ring line since the coating has been removed. Bar Keepers Friend, in this case, most likely won't remove the staining from the raw ceramic. Another possibility is that the surface you are cleaning is too heavily soiled or has built-up layers of grime that are preventing the product from effectively removing stains. In this case, you may need to use a stronger cleaning product like a liquid hydrochloric acid that can treat it differently than a powdered plus water paste.
Your BKF is going down the drain if you don't flush and turn the knob under the toilet to stop the flow at the start of this process. I've grown tired on Comet not doing a good job like it used to. I'll try the BKF. Thank you for the video! And, turn the water back on. Lol
@@AskAngelaBrown You don’t have to explain each step but just seeing the full cleaning process and which sequence to clean everything would be helpful. You could overlay some music and speed up the video.
Actually is you just get some cheap shaving cream and spray it all over the station and inside of the toilet bowl let it sit on there for about 15 min then use a sponge with a scrubbing side and just got over that with the scrubbing side then wipe with the sponge side it will clean it so nice and sparkling clean.
Both tubs in my rented apartment have been paintd. It started to peel just by my using a magic eraser things. What can I use to clean this painted surface without peeling off the paint?
There is not much you can do. Painting a tub can cause it to peel after a while especially if the paint wasn't sealed properly or hasn't fully cured. When cleaning the tub, avoid using abrasive cleaners and use mild soap (like dawn dish soap and a gentle sponge.)
Hi there, I have a question about this tutorial. I had a flood when first moving into a new ho e in the bathroom as the flusher got stuck and so didn't know how to stop the water flowing so had upstairs leaking into my toilet. I've recently found a very old stain arou d the rim near holes but hard to reach, what can i do? I literally cannot get rid of the blackness 😢😢
My toilet, even thought I had been clean daily, still has a hard mineral ring. I can actually feel it when I run my hand through. I used that product and scrub but it barely comes off.
Comet is perfect for maintenance cleaning. It has a pH of around 10 so it is more alkaline than an an acid - and if you don't have tough stains to clean, it's perfect.
@@AskAngelaBrown awesome. I spray bleach all purpose in the bowl then sprinkle comet then use the brush. The outside of the toilet I spray all purpose and wipe and dry or use a clorox wipe then dry. Looks so nice!

Hi Angela, Wow, that toilett was really dirty, I'd like to know how do you clean the toilette brush and utilities? and It's it also necessary to use every time a new sponge? Thank you
Hi and yes, the toilet was really that dirty - which is why we flush the toilet first to see what flushes down and what stays and how bad it is. I've seen toilets much worse that had rust or iron below that water line. The key to ring prevention is to brush the toilet each day for 10 seconds. That will keep rings from forming. To clean the brush just rinse it in the clean toilet water and leave it drip drying between the seat and the rim usually does the trick. As for the sponge - you don't need one unless you're doing a deep clean, and you'll toss it when you are done with the deep clean, so an old sponge you're going to toss anyway works just fine.
I'm thanking the Lord for you! This video is just what I needed. The toilet looks like one of ours, and my efforts so far have not removed the stains. You've just taught me what to do with BKF. What do you think of old toothbrushes instead of old sponges for this?
EASIEST WAY IS TO TAKE PAPER TOWELS SOAK AND WET IT WITH WHITE VENEGAR AND PUT IT ALL AROUND THE AREAS NEEDED TO BE CLEANED, BEST TO DO IT AT NIGHT BEFORE GOING TO BED. WHEN YOU WAKE UP, ALL THAT STAIN IS GONE. YOU HARDLY NEED TO DO ANY SCRUBBING AT ALL, JUST USE THE TOILET SCRUBBER WITH HANDLE AND QUICKLY GO AROUND IT. VINEGAR IS THE BEST REMOVER OF STAINS BECAUSE IT IS ACIDIC.
Get rid of that ring by spraying it with WD40. Spray soak thoroughly then sprinkle Comet on liberally. Close the lid and let soak for 30 mins. Before spraying with WD40 flush toilet. After 30mins I use scrub brush or better yet if you dont have brush. Use the scrubbling bubbles product with the flushable pads
Thank you for your question. A mixture of vinegar and baking soda can be effective. Let it sit for some time, then scrub with a toilet brush to help break down and remove the limescale. Another product that you might want to try is Lime-A-Way Bathroom Cleaner - amzn.to/3S71IzE (affiliate link*)
Great instructions - thanks, but I couldn't remove a thin brown mineral ring stain despite a lot of scrubbing. Maybe a pummice stone - but not sure if this is a good idea since it might damage the ceramic surface?
I wonder how much of that would have come off without any product, just a gentle scrub with the toilet brush as you did? I always try first with no product, just a little agitation, somas to minimize product use.
Yes, the BKF works really well, and by creating a paste and letting it sit for just two minutes, it came right off. It literally removed everything an acidic liquid toilet bowl cleaner would have removed. 👏👏👏
One of the best things to clean a toilet with hard water stains is an SOS pad takes the staining right off and doesn’t scratch the porcelain The toilet looks brand new when you’re done
Barkeepers friend can't be mixed with other cleansers (it can be extremely dangerous or even fatal). But I'm not sure how long you have to wait for (after the bowl has already been cleaned with some other cleaning product) until it's safe again. Anyone know how to research a question like that?
Not the same as Comet. Comet (depending on the version) is closer to a pH of 10 while Bar Keepers Friend is the pH of 1.5 to 2.5. So the Bar Keepers Friend is on the acidic side and Comet is on the Alkaline side of the pH scale. They do two different things. Comet would be great for a maintenance clean.
What exactly was the "surface stain" in toilet bowl? I have water stains in my toilet bowl that I havent been able to remove. I tried comet, straight bleach and bathroom cleaners. Nothing. I read about using high potency vinegar and let it sit. But Bar keepers friend looks easier and prob smells a lot better. Will BKF work on any water stain? Idk if i have hard or soft water stains. I guess I should find out.
It's hard to say exactly what the stain is - it looks like rust, but it didn't bleed below the water line so I don't think it is rust or the water would have left streaks coming from the top of the toilet bowl through the drain. Let me know how it works for you. I'm curious to hear your experience.
Hey SusanBrooklyn, straight bleach works great with stubborn stains. The trick is you must let it sit for a few days. That means you must not use the toilet at all. Hopefully, you have an additional toilet. Good luck!

Thank you!
Love BKF!!!
LOL. Well, thank you for watching then, I'm so glad you stopped by. 🤗
Thanks so much for leaving a comment about Bar Keepers Friend. I think you will find it cleans your toilet easy and quick too. 😊
Bar Keepers Friends is amazing.
WooHoo! I think it’s amazing too.
Good to know, thanks for sharing this tip!
It's a low sudsing grease cutter. Love it for tile floors.
I cannot live without it!
That worked so well! Wish I’d known that 20 years ago!
We learn something new each day. Give it a try! Thanks for watching.
Love this! So glad you gave this a try. Thanks for sharing your expirience and feedback, I appreciate it!
White vinegar used regularly prevents build up in toilets.
Pour in distribute with brush ...let set 2 hours ..again brush and flush.
I remember on the FB forum someone asking how to access the product after she bought Bar Keeper Friend. Everyone was helpful to tell her to peel the sticker off the top of the can! If you don't know, you don't know. It gave me a laugh, having grown up with powdered cleansers.
You make a good point. We had a woman in our group who tried to use a can opener and destroyed the top of the powdered cleanser container.
I always leave the sticker on, but use scissors to cut off part so only a couple holes are open. Much easier to get right portion--keeps excess amount from being used when not needed. saves $$$$$
@@toodie535what a brilliant idea!! Thank you
I use the toilet brush to bring down the water level in the toilet. Do it that same was as you did with the plunger, only with more "plunges." It seems to work a little faster.
Thanks for the tip! 👍
If you dump water down the toilet first, it’ll lower the water level and make it a little easier
I always do this. A small pail of water is all it takes.
Thank you! You helped me solve a bad soap scum problem that a senior friend had at his house. I did the vinegar/Dawn dish soap and the Bar Keeper Friend. Followed up with my steam cleaner. He's very happy 😊.
That is wonderful, you are a great friend! Glad the video was helpful. Thanks for sharing your results and for watching the video, I appreciate it!😊
I cleaned a house with a very similar ring. I tried multiple cleaners on it. After the 10th cleaning, I went to the Barkeeper's friend cleanser. It did the job.
It's my go to solution now for toilet cleaning.
That is good to know, thanks for sharing your experience with the product!
Angela, I just had to mention that by hitting your can of cleanser against the toilet rim will contaminate the can with toilet germs and bacteria.
Thanks for the tip. Do you have a particular brand of pumice stone that you recommend?
I use the pumice stone as well! Nothing works better for me!
The pumice stone is the only thing that works on my hard water ring in the toilet.

Glad you like the product. Thanks for sharing your input and for watching the video, I appreciate it!
dont know about BKF but Bon Ami is a feldspar-based scourer and it has NO NASTY CHLORINE BLEACH.
I found Zep liquid toilet bowel cleaner on Amazon and it works GREAT! Just thought I'd share, also Citric Acid gets rid of that dark rings.
Thank you for sharing this tip!
Not sure if all household toilets work the same but if I pour a pail of water in he bowl it drops the level without needing a plunger
Yes, that works as well. Thanks for the tip. 👍
I've used a regular cleaner and drywall sanding screen, essentially a light pumice, with fantastic results on an older home. I'll be using bar keepers friend periodically on maintenance rotation with Oak & Willow's toilet pods!
Awesome system. Thanks for sharing this. 👍
I also use the drywall sanding screen for toilets.Thats a little secret not many know about.I learned that trick years ago when I worked for a cleaning company!!
Did the pumice eventually scratch the porcelain?
@@judys5767 not if you use it completely wet.
I tried the barkeepers friend in my bathroom now it sparkles, thank you!
Wonderful, so glad you gave it a try! Thanks for sharing your input, we appreciate it!
The BKF container holes never seem to flow well for me. I transferred (and labeled) to an old parmesan cheese shaker.
You are not alone when it comes to that. I've heard this from others too. And they also transfer to another container. Thanks for watching!
I transferred mine because I didn't want it getting all over my cleaning bag
Citric acid works a charm. No scrubbing.
Thanks for sharing this tip. 👍
I do this but it can be costly.
Great tip!
Thank you for making my life easier🤗
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Grossed me out with not using clean gloves/hands & that container/caddy!

It's so good! Try it and let me know how you like it and how it works for you. 👍
One other note for newbies - be careful with overspray. If the client’s flooring is natural stone (like marble) many products will etch the finish.
Another great reason to use the powdered cleanser in the toilet. If it gets on a stone floor, it can be swept up without harming the stone. Thanks for bringing this up.
@@AskAngelaBrown Bar Keepers Friend is one of my favorite cleaners. A staple everyone should keep on hand!
Outstanding !!
Can't wait to try Bar Keepers Friend on my toilet.
Thank you for posting, this is life changing for me !!
I’m so glad you are as excited as I am about cleaning. Keep me posted on how it works out for your toilet. 😊
@@AskAngelaBrown That's exactly what I did, as instructed here. Maybe I'll try leaving the paste on longer than two minutes.
@@Broken_Arrow58 be careful, it can also "pit" the porcelain if left too long
@@Broken_Arrow58 Did that work? My toilet has all sorts of mineral stains. The part where the water is sparkling white. Not the rest of the bow.
I love BKF!
Thanks for sharing this tip! BKF is great!
Great idea,however,
I do encourage people to try not using aluminum for anything you may put in mouth or on your body.
If you've ever covered say a lasagna or any acid based food w aluminum,or left an aluminum utensil or pan soaking, that pitting you see after is the metal leaching into your food,or breaking down... caution

Do you have a video on how you clean an entire house as in where do you start first and end
We usually ask the customer where they want us to start if they are home so we don't interfere with their morning routine. If they are not at home we usually start in the same room and work our way around the house in a pattern that makes sense for the priorities and the time allotted for the job. There is more than one right room to start in.

Chlorine bleach in comet, plus dyes and artificial perfumes not good for any living thing.

Can it clean the very bad rust from the toilet bowl?
It might work for light to medium stains but for heavy rust stains, you might want to consider using a specialized rust remover or a toilet bowl cleaner specifically designed to tackle rust.
Thanks for posting this video really cool to see a powder cleaner
The powder cleaner doesn't leave stains on the floors if it spills like regular toilet bowl cleaner can do if it leaks in your caddy, or gets carried across a carpeted floor. It's much safer than some liquid acids.

Where do I get this at,here in Va.
You should be able to buy this at places like Lowe's, Walmart, a supermarket or Amazon.
You didn't use regular powdered cleanser like Ajax? Is that because of the porcelain coating?
Great question. Ajax Powdered cleanser and Comet have pH balances in the 10 to 10.5 range. The Bar Keepers Friend powdered cleanser is a 1.5 - 2.5 on the pH scale putting it more in line with a toilet bowl cleaner that has the power to clean out heavy duty or (deep cleaning) gunk. All would work in a toilet (because of the porcelain coating) but the Ajax and Comet may not remove all the traces of the toilet bowl ring and may need to done a second or third time plus a lot of elbow grease.
What stores do you know normally carry this product? Thanks again for this helpful video.
Check out the where to buy page for Bar Keepers Friend: barkeepersfriend.com/where-to-buy/
Pour scalding hot water down the bowl or drain both will work.
Thanks for the tip.
Your BKF is going down the drain if you don't flush and turn the knob under the toilet to stop the flow at the start of this process. I've grown tired on Comet not doing a good job like it used to. I'll try the BKF. Thank you for the video! And, turn the water back on. Lol
I appreciate the tip. Let me know what you think of Bar Keepers Friend. 👍

Every house is different. If you want to start cleaning houses then go work for a cleaning service and learn by experience

Comet is perfect for maintenance cleaning. It has a pH of around 10 so it is more alkaline than an an acid - and if you don't have tough stains to clean, it's perfect.

Glad it was helpful! Old toothrushes might also work, it might cover a smaller area though. Give it a try and let me know how it turns out.
This is great to know!
It's a game changer - you may never need to buy liquid toilet bowl cleaner again. This does the trick every time.

What do you recommend for hard brown limescale at the very bottom of the bowl in the neck area?
Thank you for your question. A mixture of vinegar and baking soda can be effective. Let it sit for some time, then scrub with a toilet brush to help break down and remove the limescale. Another product that you might want to try is Lime-A-Way Bathroom Cleaner - amzn.to/3S71IzE (affiliate link*)
Great instructions - thanks, but I couldn't remove a thin brown mineral ring stain despite a lot of scrubbing. Maybe a pummice stone - but not sure if this is a good idea since it might damage the ceramic surface?
Pumice stone can work, but use it gently with light pressure to avoid scratching

Wonderful information and great video
Glad it was helpful!
I have what looks like rust under the water, plus the yucky ring like in this video. Any suggestions? I do have BKF so I will try that.
Yes, do try it and let me know how it works for you. I'm eager to hear your results.
In an earlier video you recommended making the paste with Comet with bleach. Which one should I get?
You can try both, but in this case I would go with BKF.
If you have city water, it's not hard and comet will do. If you have hard water, you'll need the bfk to break down mineral deposits.
Good luck!
@@geeters47 that's ridiculous, sorry. There are easier and quicker ways then needing straight bleach on it for days.
Vinegar is my next try.
Hi. We have that crusty brown stains in the bottom of the toilet in the outlet for the toilet. Any ideas on how to clean that area?
Have you tried Bar Keepers Friend?
@@AskAngelaBrown no. I’ll try that next. I e tried vinegar and baking soda and that didn’t work
