Nothing compares to the cinderella story of Isidro Garcia. He was supposedly just a spectator in a championship fight between then WBO champion Jose "Carita" Lopez against the challenger Alejandro Montiel until he suddenly withdrew from the fight leaving the champion without an oppponent. Isidro Garcia who was eating hotdogs in the audience agreed to step-up and fight for the championship using borrowed equipment. He ended up winning the WBO belt.

I know his manager started the whole hotdog thing but it’s not true. It’s actually impossible to be true given the time he pulled out. Unless the suggestion is on 4 hours he took it THEN went to his seat to watch his own undercard and had a hot dog then went and got prepared haha. It’s amazing enough as is we don’t need a hotdog story to sweeten it haha he likely got inthe story from a slightly similar one nearly a decade prior. This was Tomashek’s ridiculous title bout with Tommy The Duke in the early 90s. I’ve researched that fight for ages and it’s clear doughboy was the back up fighter - super talented journeymen and the slick option when you needed to spar of the big boys on the club scene who wasn’t actually expecting to be put in especially as they got within one hour that’s impossibly rare so like any good country boy he slammed some brewskies and got ready to watch his favorite prize fighter with the boys. Needless to say He was pissed drunk and literally was seen on camera with hotdogs (multiple) literally minutes before the fight when Morrison called him up for his Foreman tuneup he couldn’t avoid haha truly one for the ages. Though unlike chino, tommy could have literally killed his late notice replacement if he wanted. Chino however could flat out crack. Not in any way taking away from him I’m saying he was genuinely very talented and on weight. Tomashek on the other hand… I mean … probably the nicest heavyweight in history atleast that’s for sure I’ll leave it at that 😂

Ruiz's personality shows there is a HUGE difference between respect and fear. Sometimes men, and people in general confuse the two. Just like there's a difference between maturity and cowardice. This is especially applicable as a warrior is older, and content in his manhood and chooses to live another day to protect and provide for his legacy...it's better to be a warrior in the garden, than be a gardener in a war.

Hey wade. Great video. Not sure if I am correct or not but I counted Joe's punches during the fight. He threw 15 half assed jabs. Maybe one or two were sort of kind of half decent. But none of the jabs did any damage. Then I counted 3 or four punches. I guess you would call it a right hook? I don't know. Only one of those was semi hard. He just showed no power at all. It looked to me like he just didn't want to get hurt. Playing it very safe and conservative. On the other hand ksi threw some hard punches. Very aggressive. He definitely was dominating. The one thing I saw that I haven't heard anyone say anything about except the one commentator during the fight was that KSI kept his hands down basically the whole time. Over confidence and show boating imo. One thing I've been told since day one was keep your hands up always. Defend yourself because you never know when they are going to throw something in there and catch you with a punch and catch you off guard. But if your hands are up at least you have a chance that punch isn't going to connect or at least not as hard because your hands are up. I cringe when I see fighters in there with their hands down. Look what happened to Cody garbrandt.......not once but twice. Showboating with his hands down and got caught and ko'd twice. Just because he was show boating. And I think he was better than both of those fighters but they caught on and got the timing right and just laid him out. Yes, KSI is super quick but a good smart professional fighter is going to put him to sleep if he's doing that to them. If tommy is smart enough he is just licking his lips waiting to get into that ring and wait for his chance to do it. I don't think that hands down is going to fly with a good boxer. Now looked horrible imo. He looked timid and he didn't throw any meaningful punches besides maybe one or so. And didn't do any damage. This is just my opinion but I would like to hear someone who knows more than I do to comment on it. Thanks.

José Carita Lopez vs Vargas it is said Vargas was eating a hotdog in the stands when he was called in to fill in last minute and won the 112lb WBO championship 2. Martin Coggi vs some Colombian who came in on short notice to fight a very good champion in his backyard though the Colombian lost he was blindly robbed in one of the most shameless act of home cooking in boxing history

There was a fight around the same year as the Ruiz fight here between a short blabby Mexican and a tall and really buff black guy. The Mexican won. He was so much shorter that he could mostly do uppercuts. But he won. Was amazing. If anyone might be able to give me the fighter’s names I’d really appreciate it. My friend was going to save it for me and accidentally deleted it. Thanks !

After that short notice win, Andy Ruiz, the human burrito, came to all the wrong conclusions about why and how he won, and hired a local taco truck owner to be his chef during training for the Anthony Joshua rematch.
"Yeah, in hindsight, that was probably a bad idea. People kept telling me how great it was that I was so chubby and how much I'd done for fat people by winning the first fight, and Joshua's muscles didn't help him, so it sort of made sense in my head. I figured if I just increased my calorie intake by eating even more street food, I'd be in even better shape and take him out earlier than in the first fight. That's when I asked Juan to help me prepare for the fight and he was happy to do it. It was probably the most delicious camp I've ever had; I was feeling good, other than the million trips to the bathroom, but I'm Mexican so I'm used to that. Anyway, let's do a third fight and this time I'll eat a salad or two. Maybe."
Tacos had a short notice win over Andy Ruiz.

Don't underestimate a seemingly chubby guy. I used to work with a big chubby Latino and he was strong as a bull and quick! Now add to that determination and a good chin. Ruiz is like a grizzly bear 🐻. He actually uses his weight to his advantage as he generates so much power with that winging hook. It's impossible not to love the guy.....great sportsmanship.
