Wow it certainly displays craftsmanship! Well done sir beautiful work
Sick finish right there. Can't wait to get in on the run!
Thank you for this!!!
Sure wish Kiesel would sell their necks again. I really loved working with them and playability was fantastic! It was a good run while it lasted... time to start building necks again. That’s going to be a beautiful guitar! I have several guitars and 6 are Carvins. Might get a Kiesel someday, I just enjoy building them. Thanks for the videos!
Could we see the pics of the finished product? Just wondering what it was going to look like whether it was going to be a satin finish or gloss?
gloss on their bursts, which look sex
@KieselGuitars So basically pressure sanding the finish will produce the distressed fade, thus letting the natural top show through... nice.
Sweet!
jeff, ive said it many times before, you my friend are an artist ,props to you and your Kiesel family
That moment you think "hey. My guitar is in process at kiesel shop ! I hope he'll work on mine !!!" XD
I will never buy another Gibson or Fender, from now on it will all be Kiesel or Carvin.
The best custom made guitars out there! Nobody can match their prices.
This video has single handedly pushed me over the threshold to buy a California Carved Top.
Same lel I’ve been saving for 5 years I’m too scared to just put it all in one guitar tho so I’m scared
@@gersongomez1876 Yeah hopefully idk if they’ll have a Black Friday sale cause the ones now are just some things not like a full on sale for the guitat
You're a beast Jeff. I have an ST300 and JB200C. Awesome, awesome guitars from a great company with a visionary business model.
GREAT LOOK! WHAT GRIT OF SANDPAPER DO U USE ON THAT LOOK????????
Michael - Jeff used 280 on that
He only used 280? The whole time? @kieselguitars
Mr. Miagi trained you well Daneilson!
Is that the track you are listening to in your earphones? Better not be SoundCloud rap.. 😂
All this time I've been pronouncing these as {Ky-Zel}. Just to find out it's {Key-sul) 😔
man...you rule that sandpaper....great job :)
Love this music though!! Also, goes without saying, awesome guitar!
Is that air or paint that you are using in that pressure hose? Sorry for the ignorant question
From the looks of it it is pressurized air to get all the gunk out of the sand paper
The level of work and craftsmanship this company puts into their instruments is incredible. Every Kiesel I've ever played has been perfect.
What products did you use to achieve the initial colour? Having a hard time finding anything similar.
Hi Jeff,
Do you sand the binding on the guitar as well?
Looks aces man! \m/
How thick does the veneer have to be to use this technique without sanding through?
all i see is sanding not how you finish a guitar
Is this color no longer offered? I don't see it on your website when I go to configure a custom guitar.
most fascinating video ever
Nice Job Jeff...Good to see the VP of Kiesel getting his hands dirty and doing a fantastic job! Must inspire your whole crew! Hats Off!!! Keep up the Great Work! :)
Legend!!! Thumbs up Jeff!!!
What's the assembly method on this one? Looks like the neck is "half-set half-tru", it seem to enter the body and stop at the 2nd pickup cavity but without being visible on the back?
Good skill. Good job Jeff!
awesome! music too!!!
Love it!
Killer finish. Who is the backing music?
+sepherus The intro is from Element 113 and the looping track is from Jonathan Jourdan (To Whom It May)
I'm think of getting a carvin for my first big buy. Quite surprised that Jeff is a trained luthier
What grit sandpaper do you use?
180- 220 you don't want to go finer, or the fibers on the maple with be tight (smooth as glass) and won't accept the stain. If you watch any PRS factory video, theysand with 220, wet the top to bring up the fibers, wait a few minutes, stain and sand back until only some color left and then use other stains to blend in to desired look. Then spray a finish, several coats, wet sand and buff out.
Awesome finish aside, I could listen to this loop track all day..
Finished?
Adam Sander
Haha
Is there an extra charge to get Jeff to work on your guitar?
+monomaiden There are several custom things that only Jeff does. You can call our guys at 858-GUITARS to spec out a build.
I could sand that thing like that. You can give me a job and I will do many guitars like that too. My services are $47 PH and I can work sats for double...is that OK? When do I start?
I love this finish with no glass on it just mate finish I want an aries 7 like this
That'd look great with a flamed maple f/board with flamed maple DENIM BLOCK INLAYS. Possible?
that would be amazing, or even those inlays in an ebony board
Gorgeous finish, this guitar is next level!
Guitars are all looking awesome!
I usually tape my headphone wires to my shirt with enough slack so they don't get pulled away, but are still out of the way. That's just me though...lol.
Bluetooth!.........No wires.........*>)
Run them under ur shirt or jacket. Or use bluetooth
is that sandpaper or steel wool youre using?
Looks like sandpaper and compressed air to clear dust. I just wonder what kind of stains he used, mostly for the white underneath.
Pablo Griswold I have a faded denim Carvin guitar. The white you are seeing is the flame maple itself, not a dye.
Oh, awesome! Thanks.
isn't it more logical to start from the inside and gradually remove the coating to the outside?
then it would be black on the outside and white on the inside, the opposite of what he made in this video
anyone knows the grit number used to sand the guitar>?
As a Luthier myself, I'd use 320 or 400 the guitar was most likely fine sanded to at least that beforehand. He's just taking off that very fine top layer.
I wonder if this would work on a mahogany body
Good job. 😎
Fackin hell all hand-sanded, is this because a hand sander would take too much off?
Normally its done with a small rotating sander.
how *it's* done
