Looks absolutely awesome I need to get another critter Nation unit I have 12 rats my 3 boys are in a double critter Nation and my 9 girls are in a double critter Nation but I might get another unit for my girls
I have 6 rats currently in a double critter nation+ a huge run. I’m getting 3 more in a few weeks, so I just purchased the add on unit for it! I’m so excited for all 9 of my bois to enjoy their new big house. Plus an add on to their run.
I’m glad you explained the mechanics. I’m in no position to get rats yet but when I do, this is the cage I want and it’s helpful to see how it connects before I get it so I can plan 🙂
I currently have 2 doubles and 1 single, and I just bought 2 more doubles. Hoping to at some point have a 3 x3 , so for now I will be 1add on short but it is going to be a huge expansion for my 5 females!! Although I am planning on finding a trio of babies to add to the current group as many of them just hit 2 y/o
Love it! And I don’t even have rats. I literally round you when I got my first leo (whos 2 now) and was looking for care tips. I have 3 leos now and just wanted to say your videos are awesome and also were insanely helpful when I took in my rescue leo (Evan age 4) a few months ago.
If you don't mind buying used, check out places like craigslist and Facebook marketplace! I got a double ferret nation on facebook marketplace for $150. I also got two 40 gallon breeders on there for $100, one of which is a front opening zoomed. I ALWAYS recommend checking secondhand sites, especially if you're short on cash 🙃
Great setup, do you think that a single critter nation is enough for two females, or should I go with the double? I have fairly limited space. Thank you.
I’m late but right now I have 2 boys that are each in a single due to them not getting along despite multiple introductions over months. Have a question, can you stack the singles one on top of another where they can’t get to each other? The singles side by side takes up a lot of space that I would like to save. TIA!
I love this set up! Where did you get the acrylic? I just got 3 baby rats and they're loving the single right now. But I'd like to expand when I can afford it
I have Ferrets, I used this brand cage for! For anyone wanting to expand their units WIDTH-WISE (side by side)... You'll need to use a little DYI creativity! Buy heavy duty zip-ties, preferably the metal (not plastic) kind of zip-ties! STEP ONE: Assemble the new critter nation cage you are gonna add on! But leave the side cage pieces (walls) off on one side! So it will be enclosed 3/4 of the way, with the opening facing the direction to connect to the other critter nation! DO NOT ATTACH THE WHEELS ON THE OPEN SIDE'S LEGS... STEP TWO: Remove the side cage pieces (walls) of the other critter nation on one side. The side facing where the other cage will connect to! You'll want all 4 wheels attached on this cage! STEP THREE: Push the two critter nation cages together side by side, and rest the no-wheels legs of the one cage, on top of the wheels of the other cage! The wheels will act as a support, to hold the add-on cage up - where they'll be even/level with one another! (This is the only way they can squish up close & level with each other! If both cages have all four wheels on, the middle-most wheels with keep you from pushing them close enough together! That's why one cage needs to have no wheels, and you rest the legs on top of the other cage's wheels!) STEP FOUR: zip-tie the two cages together from the bottom, in the front, middle, & back! Then Zip-tie them together again on Top, from the front, middle, & back! And just zip-tie as much as you are comfortable with - to keep the two cages close & tight to one another, with plenty of support! Zip-tie the middle legs together too! And that's it! Make sure both cages have their roofs on top! And it'll be an extra wide critter nation with two cages side by side! And the middle wheels (locked) will support & hold up the 2nd cage's legs that are resting on top of them! Plus they'll be zip-tied together as well!
So if I was planning on getting rats, which I am, could I just buy two deluxe critter nations and put them side by side by just taking the sides off like you explained? Because I’m planning on getting 4-5 male rats at some point in the future and I want to make sure they have lots of room to move around but my room is only 7ft tall but I have a Great Wall that can fit it 4 ft across and 6ft High or would it be a waste? I’m actually really curious and could use any tips you could give.
Was it easy to take the cage apart to add the add on? I have a two story model and would like to get the add on to have 3 levels for my chinchilla. I am worried that I won't be able to take the top off to add the extra level.
Is it challenging to get the middle floor out without completely disassembling? We have a DCN and I haven't been brave enough to yank that middle yet! 😬
I have a single unit CN rn for my 2 ratties, the add on unit is coming in 2 days, but i was wondering if you thought 6 rats total would be okay in a double critter nation? My friend needs to get rid of 3 rats and my one rat was pregnant when i got her so i know im keeping atleast one. Would it be cruel to keep 6 in a double critter nation?
I love your cage and am super inspired by it. But abhorrent is a strong and super judgmental word to use about housing four rats in a single critter nation. I have three in a double. But they are quite old and not energetic and definitely would be fine in a single unit. It would be abhorrent if you stuck four rats in a single unit and never let them out for playtime or interacted with them for sure. Even four babies/young rats in a single is questionable considering their energy level.
I love the effort you put in the enrichment of your animals
Thanks :)
I love the amount of space you’ve given them
That cage is amazing that’s literally my dream cage
Aw thanks :D
Bare minimum who? We don't know her 😂
YES 👏🏻
Carleigh Rose the cage i have is apparently good for 6 rats but i feel bad about having two in it 😳😳😳
@@skrunklycreationz I felt that, I have four rats in a double critter nation and I still feel like its too small
KaiTheWolf same lmao i got 2 more and now i have the double, i think im just gonna keep adding more toys/hammocks to it
😂 love this. Humans are so domesticated!
Looks absolutely awesome I need to get another critter Nation unit I have 12 rats my 3 boys are in a double critter Nation and my 9 girls are in a double critter Nation but I might get another unit for my girls
It’s been so great to see the rats interact with all of the extra space! I’m sure yours would love it!
I want to be your rat and live in there. They have more style than I do. Love you and your channel! 💕 thank you 🙏
Awww thank you so much!! ❤️
That's an awesome cage!! So much space that the rats are gonna enjoy ^^ I can't wait to see the cage tour!
Thanks :)

i love your cage! could you do a video where you show how you clean it?
I haven’t ever filmed a cleaning video but maybe I will!
This is so awesome! I know your rat babies have to be so happy. ❤️😊
Thanks :)
You explained this perfectly
Oh thanks!

So true!!! the cage I had before this one I sold to someone on Craigslist. The deals are out there!
What did you use for the base tray? Did you get it off amazon or somewhere else
Great setup, do you think that a single critter nation is enough for two females, or should I go with the double? I have fairly limited space. Thank you.
Yes a single critter nation is OK for two females but I recommend having three females as a trio of rats is better than two

Yup it took all of 10 minutes
Is it challenging to get the middle floor out without completely disassembling? We have a DCN and I haven't been brave enough to yank that middle yet! 😬
You do have to take the top off and slide out one side partially to wiggle the middle shelf out of place
is the bar spacing small enough for baby rats? (4-5 weeks old)

6 should be okay in a double critter nation, just make sure you’re giving them plenty of time outside the cage :)
Would you recommend using a critter nation for a hedgehog?
I think pug pibble hedgie does. Though it’s been a while since I have seen their content so I could be wrong
I have a huge rat living around henre but I'm scared to try to feed him by hand he must be At least as heavy as a full grown 🐇
Their home is better than mine 😂😂 lucky rats
Honestly same. Their house is way cooler than my bedroom
Not sure why anyone would thumbs down, but okay.
I love rats my first favourt pet
