15 Year Old Impact Driver Restoration | Hitachi Cordless Oil Pulse Driver, Model WP 12DM

  • I bought this impact driver only 15$ cause it looks very old and the battery also dead. There is some water inside the box I think I couldn't get it back to work. Incidentally, I picked up another battery at good condition. The seller gave it to me for free. Finally, I can get this impact driver back to life. This tool is really powerful and greatly reduces striking noise. At the end of the video, you will see the drill testing and comparing.

This procedure is only slightly different from my own preferred restoration method:
    1) Tear down the tool to the smallest components, de-greasing and performing rust removal along the way.
    2) Forget how all the pieces go back together. Put them all in a box and set them out on the curb on trash day.
    3) Purchase a new impact driver.

The best restoring channel. You have inspired me to buy old electric tools and restore them for my workshop instead of just buying new ones. So far It's really cheap to get great tools, that I simply couldnt afford otherwise. It's so much fun to bring them back to life when someone has abandoned them.

@Klippy Klop I''m in the process of restoring them and I have a thing for old german Fein power tools. I was thinking about uploading a restoration video, but It will take me a while to do so. @@xenonram I agree as well, but at the same time I've been troubled with his coffee grinder restoration. I'm coffee machines / grinders oriented and he should have either buy new conical burr or create one. He just cleaned the old one, which makes his entire restoration useless, because he will never get decent coffee out of that. Kinda pointless restoration. But I fully agree on his craftsmanship, he is really skilled.

Charge the battery with a powersupply 12v 200 mAp for some hours - then try the charger again

@@MohdAzylee Shelf life is different from charge circles and current draw. A battery that is used hard, like power tool batteries, is under high loads, which kills the battery faster. Ni-MH and Ni-Cad batteries are garbage. It's a wonder how we used them for so long. We would never have picket sized smart phones if not for lithium batteries. Look and LiPo batteries can have CDR (current draw ratings) in excess of 60C. (60 times the capacity) For a 1500 mAh LiPo battery that has a 60C CDR, can handle 90 amps! (That a siht load of current)

hey dude, thx alot for your vids; but for your health: you should never get in skin contact with chemicals. all of them are made of oil products and are very harmful (not yet but soon).
If you like your skin, your hand quality and your liver, always wear those nitrile gloves.

He'll be just fine. If you think that touching some grease to do a restoration a couple times a month has any measurable impact on your health, I suggest you look into exposure. A guy getting some grease on his hands a couple times a month, and washing it of, zero worry. A mechanic with free on his hands all day, every day, slight worry. There are literally millions of other factors that are orders of magnitude more concerning.
