Hello! Local from Budapest here. "Freedom" square is actually one that is kind of an inside joke for us hungarians. Most of the soviet memorobilia has been shipped to the outskirts of the city (like Stalin's boots which were the leftovers after the statue was smashed during the 1956 freedomfight) and are in a place called "memento park". The airquotes you've used are exactly how every hungarian feels when we look at that depravity, we are also "free" to keep it around =D . Setting up the US mission there and the statues were actually a small form of rebellion itself and made quite a stir. About the history of Budapest: it was actually 3 towns: Buda, Óbuda and Pest. Since then a lot of other smaller towns were absorbed as the capital grows. Lovely to have had you in Budapest! We need more people like you visiting! If you want to see a compeltely different country: visit the countryside as well :)
Seriously, one day in Budapest, and you managed to explain Hungary's historic "cross roads" status aversion and its strife for sovereignty! Bravo, kudos, welcome for ever!
The daughter should be really proud of her dad! Great video, great person!
you've managed to choke me up a few times. No mean feast, My home town, beautiful city and a worthy homage by you Sir. Well done and thank you.
