I was 6 year old during this riot and was living in Delhi with my Hindu family. I vaguely remember our Sikh neighbor family in Karol Bagh but I do remember two boys of my age named Monty and Vippy. I was so excited that Monty and Vippy were spending few days at my house without knowing circumstances that forced them. Even though I was excited they are at my house, they were not. I still remember fear in there eyes. I remember my father was posted at Jammu airbase and my grandfather was the one who brought this Sikh family home. I lost touch with them as we moved to Jorhat air base after few years. I wish and prey for them and all my Sikh brothers.

Here is a story that i have heard from my father. My great grand father was an Ina soldier. He fought with the britishers as well as the Americans in ww2 in burma. His sikh friend gave his life in front of him saving his life becoz he was in superior position in Ina gandhi brigade. During the 1984 riots or genocide what ever u call it, that sikh friend's wife his son and son's wife came to kolkata to stay for 5 days. We welcome them. After that they went to punjab. Back then letters were exchange to communicate.but sadly my great grand father died in 85 . And we lost the connection with them. Don't know where r they now.

How come this was riots? It was a very well-planned one-sided attack on the Sikh community and thoroughly attacked Sikh Family houses. There was no attack on other people from the attacking side. Here is a story that i have heard from my father. My great grand father was an Ina soldier. He fought with the britishers as well as the Americans in ww2 in burma. His sikh friend gave his life in front of him saving his life becoz he was in superior position in Ina gandhi brigade. During the 1984 riots or genocide what ever u call it, that sikh friend's wife his son and son's wife came to kolkata to stay for 5 days. We welcome them. After that they went to punjab. Back then letters were exchange to communicate.but sadly my great grand father died in 85 . And we lost the connection with them. Don't know where r they now.

This incident was an eye opener for Sikh Community.
It was darkest of all times when we were killing our own brothers. I am not comparing anything but it was similarly hell for Hindus too especially in Punjab and Haryana districts bordering Panjab. My mom used to tell me that if someone is travelling from Rohtak to chandigarh then its only gods grace that they are alive if they cross Ambala. So many incidents were there when whole roadways bus was asked to step down and people with red thread on their hand or those who were without turban and were though to be Hindu, they were slain by terrorists or shot down. It was done in Lalru, Fatehabad, Khannauri, Ambala, Nangal, Nahan and ofcourse Bhinderwala said he will kill one hindu every 30mins if his demands are not met.
Same was with the Sikhs, when Congress leader was killed by her own guards, her followers or goons of congress started a fire which was totally set by a propaganda to eliminate sikhs just to make a statement and countless sikh brother sisters were identified picked and killed mercilessly they had to get their hair cut.
There should be a proper closure to this, we new generation want more answers why that happened and whom to blame. We need to know more stories and must there be an acceptance and apology from govt. They should accept their mistake, that yes we mishandled terrorist bhinderwala, yes we could have easily smoked them out of Darbar Sahib, by cutting off supplies or smoke bombs and saved countless lives we didnt need to fire at Harmandir Sahin, yes it was a congress and Akali dal and many more parties' scandal and agenda to create a divide to stay in power.
