What I saw that day (beautiful Luxor) and what was being reported back home completely changed my opinion of our news media. Your videos are always super enjoyable. Great work!! 👏
Great to see your videos Doug on the Asir region and Abha.I worked in Abha in the early-mid 80’s. I worked on the construction of the hospital (an Electrical manager). I remember travelling down the old washed out roads along the dry river beds from Abha to the Red Sea on Fridays, in a beat-up Toyota Land Cruiser. We slept on the on the beach at night. The beaches were deserted, only us. The Saudi people were always nice and never had any issues. Abha and Khamis seems to have changed so much.
I love your shows. You take us places we’d never go - and we learn that people are beautiful everywhere - unlike what we’ve been told. And the food!!!! Wow

Hello a thousand in Abha.. You must visit the heritage village of Al-Yanfeh, Tamniah.. Not far from Abha.. It has fresh water from the mountain that all visitors drink from .. It has old houses and a mosque built 1300 years ago.. Really worth a visit
Hi guest, your visit & touring those areas pretty close to Yemen's border & are only tens of kellometers away from war conflicts( in contrary to what media outlets in the US reporting fallesly to some extenct about Saudia & its ppl) , is a TRUELY ACTUAL PROOF of how safe our American friends, tourists from around the globe, can be in Saudia!!!, man i wish u a happy, safe, & enjoyable trip over there & elsewhere across Saudia!
Doug do you know what's the funny thing? 😄 That I was born here in Saudi, and lived all my life, 24 years in Saudi, but I've never been in these places and I've never tried these dishes.
US expat here. I've been on road trips all over Saudi with my Czech girlfriend. Great videos, man! You didn't miss much in Jizan though. The only reason we found to go there is to catch the free car ferry to Farasan Island, but take your own car because there is very little (to none) tourist infrastructure, including taxis. There are 2 hotels on the island (at least one of which has bungalows right on the beach you can stay in, but you can't book online. The island is absolutely amazing though. The care taker of an old preserved village personally showed us around and gave us a tour of the village, then had us follow him in our car to an old mosque about 5 minutes away that is usually locked but he has the keys, and it is stunning when you get inside. There are also native antelope in a preserve on the island. A Park Ranger found us driving on some really rough trails on one of their patrols and after trying to explain in broken Arabic what we were doing (looking for antelope), he was very nice but said we were very far from where they were, but pointed us in the right direction on Google Maps. The next day we went looking again, but didn't realize we were supposed to stop at the Ranger's Station first to get permission to drive into the preserve. A different Ranger found us on his patrol, but couldn't understand what we were trying to communicate. He radioed to his buddy to say there were 2 white people out there that didn't speak Arabic, who we heard ask in reply if the 2 white people were American and Czech. After getting that cleared up, the Ranger had us follow him and he showed us where the antelope where. Everyone was amazing there. Abha was also great. We ended up going to see the 747 the transported and reassembled on the hill a few minutes out of town and checked it out, which was cool. But the best part was the weather. I'm stuck in Riyadh now, but thanks for refresher. Fifa was also really beautiful, if you ever get the chance (but be careful, the cops kinda kicked us out of our camping spot because they were worried 2 white people would be kidnapped by Houthis).
@@eliasziad7864 "anti-Yemen".... Bro, you're coming at the wrong guy with that BS. My dad is from Ibb. His parents are from Ibb. Their parents are from Ibb. To wrap that all up in a pretty concise stereotype for brevity's sake, "white" people worked the easiest.

What he doesn't have the right to do is make claims about me like, "And you are mad at the Houthis for invading saudi Arabia," based on nothing but my kind words about average Saudi citizens. Some Southern Saudi people, even (especially) on Farasan, even consider themselves Yemeni still and can travel back and forth over the border without problems. He only brought up the skin color thing because he thought it would help make his anti-Saudi point. Skin tone is an objective fact and I didn't use it in a derogatory manor, only to explain reactions. "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" would be a very different book without knowing that Jim was a Black slave, and all the cultural connotations that came along with that in the time and place.
The most amazing thing about our food in the south is the history behind it. As you saw we consume lots of honey and fat as well as Asedah, these kind of food are popular in the history coz the people years ago used to work 24/7 to provide for their families. So they would eat these kind of food to keep them full for a longer time and give them more energy, in order to not stop all the time for eating
