Absolutely spot on impersonation of Hughie Green by John Bluthal. If you're interested in seeing how accurate he is, try searching for opportunity Knocks, he was the compare and what this characterisation is based on.
My mum played piano for Spike once. It was when he was visiting a junior school in torbay. She was a very tallented pianist. (Grade 8, I think?) And was roped in to play. I was off school ill on that day. I remember that it seemed like a mild inconvenience that mum had to step out for a bit. And now, looking back on it, I realise that those few moments could have meant so much more. I miss you Spike. I miss you even more, mum. ❤❤❤❤
Although born in Marylebone, London, the real Hughie Green spent his childhood in Canada, hence the accent. Hughie was quite the standard for impressionists back then, especially Mike Yarwood.
Not really suitable for youtube, but try to listen to the old BBC radio show "The Goon Show" starring Peter Sellers, Harry Seacombe and Spike Milligan (also written by him) also Michael Bentine in the early days. Absolute insanity, it's the 1950's version of "Bottom" live. On a side note, try Gerard Hoffnung at the Oxford Union, wonderfully funny and the retelling of the bricklayers story is pure class... and never forget the french widow in every room.
I always thought Spike was funniest when being interviewed. I watched an interview with him on Wogan when I was a kid and nearly split the three stitches I had in the back of my head.
Look up spike when he was on Parkinson in Australia, the other guests were Harry Secombe and Gough Whitlam, each time I watch it I can't stop laughing.
Although it's radio the goon show is the inspiration for most comedy that comes after, I used too borrow the records from the library I still believe the best british comedy is from the radio ,the goons the navy lark ,just a minute ( original ) I'm sorry I haven't a clue , there are so many ,cabin pressure is best of the new ones.
I have watched every single episode of the original What's My Line. John Daly, Bennet Cerf (You know his pad in NYC went for $8.5M? it is nice though. Arlene Francis and Dorothy Kilgallen (ended her own life with 1950s housewives favourite, Street Valium)
Playing my vinyl has put me in some pain, I slipped off a cliff, braking my eye orbit, nose, and cheek bone, I film playing music in my favourite places, cliffs, moors, forest and even underground in a 400 year old mine, I've damage my cartridge in my knee from a tree fall, and at the minute recovering from a broken coccyx, from slipping on algae covered submerged rocks playing music in a flowing stream, (was a joke about live streaming my music)😂
Currently I’m on a pills, drinks and massages cycle for my better half who has acute back pain… lumbago they said, but didn’t do anything to help, apart from painkillers that don’t work. 😟😖
A disturbingly accurate portrayal of Hughie Green.
Played by John Bluthal who did everything from this and Carry On films (and many others) to the Vicar of Dibley in his later life.
@PHDarren thankyou,I thought I recognised him,but wondered where from,he was frank Pickle in Dibley. I will be able to sleep now🤣cheers

If you notice in all of Spikes sketches the actors costumes all have the wardrobe tags still on them .

have you seen Spikes "waiter, there is a fly in my soup" sketch ? one of my favourites - another great one is the Pakistani Daleks

There has already been a reaction to The Last Goon Show Of All in his back catalogue.

Possibly the only one you wouldn't get the jail for :)

@@clarestewart877 😁 my goofy ass kid causes me to act like that lol
😂😂😂😂😂
as the old joke goes My husband has a terrible problem with his back, What's the problem, He can't get it out of bed
The audoo sync was terrible on that video. It drifted so bad it was seconds out by the end.
Hughie Green was a predator
Yes the British comedian Hughie Green really was that weird
It was a complete piss-take of what tv programmes can be. We see the banality these days. This doesn't give endorsement. Very funny.
