- What should I know before I install a fiberglass pool myself?
You have to budget for expenses such as equipment, dirt hauling, plumbing, water, and more. You'll save about $6,000 to $10,000 overall. The most common challenge with DIY fiberglass pools is getting the pool shell level. Give yourself plenty of time to set it. For linear pools, you also have to make sure the pool walls stay straight.
DISCLAIMER: Many fiberglass pool manufactures sell direct to the consumer but River Pools no longer does.

@@liamhilt1822 Look out everyone, we got a grammar major here.
still have to convince the wife though
@@The220sit's not grammar; it's spelling and vocabulary.
It’s like he’s setting you up to not doing it yourself lol great salesman
I totally agree with you.. We put our fiberglass pool in ourselves with a few friends for less than 12k. Rented the equipment.. You're right. This guy wants the business..
@@susiek5205 where did you get your fiberglass pool from for 12k and what size is it
Hey there guy! I called your company and they state that I can’t purchase a fiberglass pool for a “DIY” project. Meaning I already have my own excavation team and crane. You have a product...I have money....I want to purchase your product with my money. Ok???? Please fill me in on how I can call y’all or a dealer up and get one of your super awesome pools sent to me and dropped off and you motor on down the road. Thanks...
Thanks for honest advice. Gives me stuff to think about. Do you do projects in northwestern PA? Thanks again.
$32,000 ? Before watching this video I was thinking $5000 would be the high end to install a pool kit yourself ?
Awesome 👍
Uhh i was thinking to fill the bottom with concrete then add wood for the sides and your done.
I actually did that up the mountains .. It works as long as u cement right
This guy don’t want us to do it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What if I have a 15×30 concrete hole in the ground already(used to be a concrete pool) can I get a fiberglass pool to fit inside?
Great question...Yes and no...Yes, a fiberglass pool can be placed in the existing hole. NO, because the concrete pool should be removed so that ground water can be managed properly around the pool shell.
you can get a liner for your existing pool. Some place will even come out and measure for you so that you get an exact fit.
@@RiverPools ...lives in the desert? No biggy as to ground water??
Also, like someone else asked... "your area"... Im in So CA. You?
If I were you I would change the title to 5 minutes at the pool, beating the timer every time!
I got the hole all need is best materials to set in place…
Yeah, I found a shell for $4500. It is a 15 x 40 and 8' deep. Use a laser level to get it level.
Please spill the beans on your pool project! Will you be making a video?
@@princessleala not any time soon. Just doing the research at this point.
Where did you find a deep shell for $4500? I’m finding it difficult to find a deep one.
@@princessleala I went to my local pool shop and specifically requested only the shell and 8 ft deep.
Sub everything out yourself! That’s what pool companies do anyways then they charge ridiculous fees on top.
What about An actual DIY fibreglass pool.
As in making the fibreglass mould and pool yourself?
Hell to much money forget ill make my own out of concrete .
Why not back fill with foam
Good idea, cost?
I was thinking the same thing. spray foam the exterior shell (let it harden) before it goes down (increases rigidity) and then either more foam or just backfill. Would make sense to lay it on 2” rigid foam as well
In time foam will deteriorate and collapse thus destroying the fiberglass pool
i did my own pool… it just cost me 75$ in walmart….no equipment, no problems, no concrete etc…
Hold it
"That is gonna cost, in our area, anywhere from $28,000-$33,000..."
Where is YOUR area?
A fiberglass pool install from River Pools in SL County, UT, is 90,000+.
I really enjoyed your videos but too bad this video is completely misleading and not true. You talk about doing the ultimate DIY. You also mention if you’re installing one of our pool and talk about the savings doing it yourself but your company will not even sell me a pool shell. They said they will only do it themselves or a dealer which you were in my area. Why even make this video wasting peoples?
Sorry for the frustration Kelton. Truly. This video was posted 3 years ago. A LOT has happened since then in terms of the company growing and repositioning to meet the growing demand. There are other manufacturers that sell direct to the consumer. At this time River Pools does not. Good luck on your project and thanks for watching and commenting!
This video serves to deter people from doing a DIY. River Pools won't even sell you a pool unless you pay them for everything. @@RiverPools

Worst video title ever, related to the content. A DIY pool would be building it yourself, not buying it from someone.
Why do u have to barry it????
Where else would an INGROUND pool go
Put above ground and push dirt up to it. Would be easier. 😁😁😁😁❤
Barry's getting buried?
Bill Peirce piping & leveling I would guess
that was a sad effort on explaining that
35000 to dig a hole your crazy
digging is literally 95% of the job, and it takes some pretty large equipment to do it quickly, hence the cost and obviously the quote includes a large profit for them
Just rent a back hoe or excavator 600$ dig the hole than have them do the rest. That’s where you save the money…
If you want to learn how to do a DIY, don't take advice from the guys who make money if you DON'T do a DIY.
