They did the same thing in Kiwami with the guy getting kicked behind the door. The guy just kind of gets kicked away noiselessly in the PS2 game, but he gives a much better reaction in Kiwami.
@@skitty21 Been playing Judgement on PSNow, one of my favourite passtimes getting from A to B is walking nonchalantly into parked motorbikes until they shatter beneath my feet :)
Why wouldn't he? Kiryu is usually incredibly stoic and almost nothing emotional gets him to lash out in genuine fits of anger. To see him suddenly pull this, I'd say Date reacted in the littlest manner he could've.
It’s funny too because it’s such a dramatic scene and has one of the most gut punching twists of the game… but then you go “wait this is when Kiryu hits the table right? YEAH!”
The most humorous part of this cutscene and why it became a meme is because of how loud the desk slam is compared to literally every other sound effect in this cutscene or even any other cutscene. It’s like they recorded the sound of someone slamming a desk but forgot to balance the audio.
Don't get me wrong, I love this scene, and the table finally gets the beat down it deserves, but a friend pointed out that in OG 2 Kiryu walks like he's been wearing heels his entire life and I can't unsee it
I recommend not looking at yakuza meme, you might get accidentally spoiled. at least finish kiwami 2, since most meme revolves around 0 - k2 and obvious Yakuza 5 / lost judgement
nah it's not sad or anything like that if you're just thinking about this particular scene. Honestly across the 4 Yakuza games (0, K1, K2, 3) I have played, the only "sad" scene I could think of is Majima's quite farewell to Makoto in 0. That's it.
I always love how big Kiryu's feet look in those shoes. It's especially awesome when winning a fight with a heated kick, like that's a big huge fucking boot lmao
I just realised even in the original version the computer screen BARELY bounces, but it still does. The little details this game had is nuts Edit: they probably made the laptop bounce more in the remake because it looks like a more modern device so its lighter
The game still happens in the same year according to the disclaimer at the beginning (even if Kiryu still takes selfies like in 6). I think it was changed because that's a metal desk. There is no way a metal desk while slammed sounded so quiet. But also metal desks are normally more flimsy. So the lapto woud bounce more.
I didnt even laugh during the regular but with the remastered. I was busting out laughing. Most probably because of all the memes I've seen associated with it
Sound wise, kiwami 2 makes more sense, It actually sounds like a metal desk with things on it being slammed. Y2 sound could be a wooden desk with nothing on it the way it sounds. I understand why Kiwami is so funny tho, i mean, nothing sounds this loud in the entire scene, and then Kiryu decided i needed to have tinnitus But also even if the chair isn't visible in Y2 you still hear it slide when Kiryu gets up In Kiwami 2 kiryu just phases the chair out of existence when he gets up.
Not the music though. The original games trump Kiwami completely with their music, with the only exception being before Ryuji's second-last fight. Using the theme from Tachibana's death for that scene was genius, and the only time I'll ever condone RGG Studio's music reusual.
Also wanted to say that the ps5 times it's trophy for completing the chapter at this mark.. so if you check out the trophy, you are immediately hit by this clip.. They knew what they were doing.
