Only watch the video today so my comments are 7 months late. Anyway it's wonderful to hear someone in RUclips talk about Nikon Wonder Picture Control, it works, it's easy and gives excellent results but, no one talks about it and, everyone talks about Fuji recepies, like if everyone is making a copy paste from each other. Thanks a lot for this information.
Thank you so much Frederico without this video I would never have known that I had access to such classic film stock to enhance my shot's. As always I very much appreciate your help. Thank You. Terry.
Hi Frederik, another great video, thank you! I often use picture controls with raw, however - to your point - non-Nikon software ignores picture controls. But I use CaptureNX2 (+ColorEfex3 plugin for filters) - and these picture controls are all there. Super helpful. Cheers from Canada!
Good information here Frederik! I bought a D700 in June and I just recently sent it back to replace internal battery that maintains time and date (under warranty) so I don't currently have my D700. I loaded some black and white profiles in my D7200 and will be trying them later on today. Thank you! :)
Thank you Lawrence! I have never owned a D7200, but I have seen grown men crying when parting with that camera, so I think you have another Nikon classic right there!
Wooooowwwww i had no idea you could do this. This is a huge imporvment to user experience, not that it was at all bad to begin with but i am ztoked about this
@@frederikboving It was one of your videos that sort of prmpted me to upgrade. I now have a D4 and a D750. thanks again and keep up the good work! Now all I need is a good lens for sports and wildlife, etc.
Another great video! Yesterday I bought a d700 so I am "studying" all your videos... 😅. I take a lot B&W photos. Is it posible to customize one of the front buttons for a specific Profile Picture (like a Kodak T 400)? or another way to easly change from profile to another?
Hi! What I have done is to get access to the "my menu" via the function buttons, and then in my menu I put the top priority items on top of the list, and in this case the picture profile. I must admit that I have not tried this for the picture profiles as such (I tend to stay in the same profile for a long time) but I would imagine that it works. Hope this helps! All the best!
The D700 gets praise for its color but if you’re able to import different color profiles won’t any decent camera do? Also my computer doesn’t recognize my camera when connected, do I have to use a card reader?
Not sure why your computer won't recognize the camera - it should work as far as I know. Try switching the camera off and on again to see if that makes a difference. I use a card reader but that is because it is faster to load the images that way. Color rendering is very much subjective and hence in personal preference territory and hence your question is difficult to answer - there are probably as many options as there are photographers...
@@frederikboving I googled the connection issue and it turns out that Nikon removed the mass storage option from the menu which allowed direct connection from camera to computer. It has to be done with a card reader. Have you tried yours?
@@frederikboving I found that I can connect with Nikon transfer. I always use a card reader, I was curious because I just got the d700, thinking something might be wrong with it.
Hi, it is important that you create a sub folder in the SD card named exact like what I show in the video. Same name. Capital letters. And that you store the profile files in that folder. Otherwise the camera cannot see the files. Hope this helps 🙏🏻
Some memory cards have a little switch to block the card from being written to. You can also try to export a profile from the camera to the card - that should create the needed folders.
@@iansean324 Got it. On the Nikon D4 there is standard, neutral, vivid, monochrome, portrait and landscape, so I guess the specific number of picture control options varies from camera model to camera model.
There are landscape and portrait picture controls that Nikon released about 15 years ago on their website. Also picture controls to replicate the DX2 colour modes 1-3. I think they got lost when Nikon moved the server. I found them on the Nikon china website (Google translate was a big help). The portrait one is great. Haven't tried the landscape.

Thanks for still posting so many useful tips for the D700, much appreciated!
This man is making the D700 even more of a great camera by being very detailed. Only negative thing is everyone is going to want this camera more 😅.
