☼ I bid you welcome, ᴜɴᴅᴇᴀᴅ.
After I had dealt with the ancestral Serpent, I became aware of its descendants in the Darkroot Basin. It was said, the area was somehow connected to the Abyss and the long-lost city of Oolacile. How.. was for me to find out. I had navigated the forest while escaping the Valley of Drakes but somehow I had not dared to venture farther in due to an infestation of Crystal Golems who, to my utter disbelief, were not as cunning or durable as they might seem at first glance. The serpentine creature made itself known with roars hidden amongst the landscape and I was thrown off guard when one of its water projectiles hit me while I attended the Golems. As I walked into view, I came to breathe a sigh of relief. Neither was it as monstrous, nor intimidating as had been it's ancestor. However, where it stood aground was more treacherous against my advantage. As I approached cautiously, what caught my attention was a low howl amidst the air of the land that resonated more the further I focused on it. A howl of a dog? Or was it a wolf? I shook away the distraction or else my doom awaited. Somehow, the Serpent couldn't fathom how I could look straight into its eyes and not be intimidated, and that made it more enraged. I was smiling under my cloak as that was precisely my plan.
Thus was my encounter with the Serpent of Darkroot Basin, the Hydra.

Having fought the Black Hydra had made this far easier for me than was intended perhaps, but the issue here is the footing. There is a borderline amount of land where you can tread that is submerged but go too far left of that position and you would fall indefinitely. Stick to the tactics and have patience throughout it's tree clipping shenanigans and this is nothing unlike Black Hydra, if not easier.
☼ My First Ever Dark Souls Journey began back in 2011 on PC but I was too afraid to play them and my resolution wouldn't work out. It has been over a decade and I'm finally playing it now on PS4 Pro. Let's Begin our journey, Undead!
